Weekly Overview of School Activities
Everyone had a great morning on Monday with Ride To School Day. It is a great
opportunity for everyone to check that their bicycle equipment is safe before
riding their bikes and practice their road safety skills whilst riding their bikes.
This week we are continuing to be write letters (the old snail mail version) to
each other. Our spelling focus is i=igloo and in maths we will be subtracting
numbers using a variety of strategies.
Thank you to Ryder and Samantha for being our class leaders last week.

students learning these class sight words as well as their magic words. We
have had some students reach their gold and red magic words well done!
In maths we are looking at the numbers 6,7,8,9 and 10 as well as 2D shapes.
Congratulations to all students on their dedication to home reading. Keep up
the great work!

Congratulations and well done to all the children who participated in Ride To
School Day yesterday.
The past few weeks we have been working with the wonderful Roald Dahl text
“Esio Trot”. The children will be able to tell you about the story so far and what is
special about the title of the book. We have completed invitations, character
descriptions (with illustrations) and predictions of the novel, with much more to
come.
In maths, we have been working on time. The children have looked at hours, half
hours, quarter past and quarter to. We have begun exploring minutes past and
minutes too as well.
Please keep remembering to do your homework and home reading.
Year 4/5 Mary Liston
Thank you to all those who participated in Ride to School Day, which as always
was a terrific turnout. A huge thank you to Steve Campbell who provided the
support he has done so for five years. We appreciate his time and efforts.
We also have many parents who have rode with us for five years!
I hope many of you got to the Art and Craft Show at the weekend and saw our
class displays on show. Thank you to Mrs Fraser who worked with the students
for the display.
Year 5/6 Joanne Malmo
The students are continuing to improve each week during band sessions, Tony
and Kim are impressed with their dedication.
Today, the Year 6 students received their permission note for the Peer Support
Camp next term. Please read the details carefully and feel free to speak with
me or Mary Liston if you have any queries.
Well done to the SRC who organised a wonderful fundraiser last week for
Progress Pikinini, especially to Blake Bridgett for his input.

STEWART HOUSE DONATION DRIVE 2016
Every year 1,800 public school children attend our safe haven
next to Curl Curl beach at no cost to their parents or
carers. During a 12 day stay they are provided with dental,
optical, hearing and medical screening and treatment.
Children participate in educational programs and excursions
designed to develop their social and emotional skills, build self-
esteem and improve their overall well-being.
This experience provides children with a much needed break
from their current circumstance. Our children are inspired to see beyond the present
and to have real hope and positive aspirations for their future.
Children in the care of Stewart House attend a specific purpose school onsite for 8
days of their 12-day stay. The NSW Department of Education and Communities
provides infrastructure and staffing support for this school.
All others costs associated with the childrens' stay are met from charitable donations.
Stewart House is holding it’s annual donation drive. All families were sent home a
donation envelope with the Kalori today that must be returned by Friday 29th April.
Well done
