► Wild birds found in any city park are wild. We allow nature to

take its course however that may be. Therefore we are very

reluctant to respond to wild bird issues.

► Dog waste stations have been installed at various city parks.

Please be courteous to others and pick up after your pet.

► Be aware that according to city ordinance #1318A pets are to be leashed at all times while in the city parks.

Group Use Reservations

The City of Kalispell has many wonderful gardens & facilities for hosting a group event. Guaranteed use of a

facility is obtained through a paid Reservation Permit from the Kalispell City Parks and Recreation.

For all groups (Family gatherings, weddings, company picnics, sports events, booths and vendor set up, music

functions and community events) prior approval and a reservation is needed.

Reservation fees for the following sites are assessed based on event type, group size, and length of time facility

is needed. Fees are collected at the time a reservation is made.

WOODLAND PARK - 705 2nd

Street East

ROSE GARDEN will hold approximately 50 people comfortably.

FORMAL GARDEN will hold approximately 100 people. Electricity upon request.

MAIN PAVILION will hold approximately 120 people, has electricity, charcoal grill & lights.

LAGOON PAVILION will hold approximately 80 people, has electricity, grill and year round bathrooms.

There is limited parking (15 cars). Cars must not block cul-de-sac.

MINI-GAZEBOS will hold approximately 15 people each and are utilized on a first come first serve basis

only.

HISTORIC GAZEBO holds 10 people *

ROTARY PAVILION holds 30 people *

* (access beyond the gate is limited to one vehicle to drop off supplies or for handicap access)

LIONS PARK PAVILION - Hwy 93 S. & 3rd

Ave. E. Holds approximately 60 people; electricity available upon request.

DEPOT PARK PAVILION - Center Street & Main Has electricity and lights upon request.

COURTHOUSE PARK - 800 South Main Courthouse East park does not have facilities. Courthouse West park has

a gazebo.

Vending Permits

A vending permit is required for vending on the Public Way (including park locations) within the City of

Kalispell. Permits are required for both products and services. A vendor must be invited by the event

organizer to vend at a special event. There are both annual and community event vending permits

available. The vending ordinance and permit application can be found online at:

information, costs and specifics related to the permit process.

FLATHEAD CHEERLEADING Come learn how to cheer for your favorite sport and team. New cheers, chants, jumps and stunts will be

FIRST MONTANA BANK KIDS TRIATHLON

This event is for children 4-13 years of age who want to compete in a triathlon. This event is made up of a swim, bike and run and is broken down into age groups. The 4-5 age groups will swim 25 yards (must have a parent in water with them), Bike ½ mile and run 500 yards. The 6-8 age group will swim 50 yards (parent can help if needed in the water), bike 1 mile and run 500 yards. The 9-13 age group will swim 150 yards, bike 3 miles and run 1 mile.

Please note this year that the age groups are categorized by color. The 4-5 year olds are green, 6-8 year olds are red and 9-13 year olds are yellow.

SANTA’S CALLING The Kalispell City Parks and Recreation Department is currently contracting with Arctic Bell to acquire a direct

line to Santa Claus at the North Pole. Moms and Dads, if you want your child/children to receive a personal

phone call from Santa on Thursday, December 10, from 5-7 pm, let Santa know by contacting us. Just mail a

postcard or letter to Kalispell City Parks and Recreation, P.O. Box 1997, Kalispell, MT 59903 or send an e-mail

to [email protected] by December 9.

Please include in your letter the name or names of your children, the Phone Number for Santa to call, possible

gifts, age, gender, pet names, grade, and any other information which will be helpful to Santa.

TREECYCLE RIDE The Kalispell TreeCycle Ride is a family friendly bike ride that will take participants on a tour of notable trees

around Kalispell. The event is meant to educate while providing an enjoyable ride through the beautiful trees of

Kalispell. If you are unable to ride feel free to follow the tour by car.

SUMMER DAY CAMP Come out and experience the “spirit of camp.” Field trips, sports, arts & crafts, swimming, games and lots more!

This is a wonderful way to spend your summer days in a safe and healthy environment. Kids eat for free!

NFL PUNT, PASS, KICK This is a football skills competition. Participants compete in three events for a combined score. Winners advance

to the sectional competition. A Birth Certificate (copy) is required to participate.

DISC GOLF

We have an 18 hole course set up at Lawrence Park. For a map and info call 758-7849 or stop by our office at

306 First Ave. East.

HORSE SHOES See how close you can get to tossing a few ringers. There are 3 pits for use at Woodland Park. The pits are

located at the left of the East entrance. The East entrance is off of Woodland Park Drive. We also have 2 pits

located at Lawrence Park, North Main Street. The pits are across the road from the pavilion. For additional info

call 758-7849.

DANCE LESSONS

West Coast Swing for beginners and beyond. Singles and couples are welcome. Must attend first class.

Participation in Parks and Recreation activities and events through sponsorship is a great way to connect with our

community. We welcome your interest in a sponsorship and look forward to working with you and helping you

T-shirt Sale

We have extra Youth T-shirts that need a home. If you are in need of an extra T-shirt or two, drop by our office

(306 First Ave. E.), to see what we have available. T-shirts are $2.50 each or 3 for $6.00. Proceeds go to our

Scholarship Program.

City Resident Discount

City residents contribute directly to the operation of Parks and Recreation programs through payment of their property taxes. A

resident discount gives residents a reduced rate on most recreation programs and park reservations. The resident discount is optional.

Residents who choose not to take advantage of the discount will pay the regular fee, along with all other participants.

Who is a Kalispell City Resident? Kalispell City residents live within the city limits proper. The actual boundaries for the City of Kalispell are not the same area as those

set by the U.S. Postal Service for mail delivery. Even though you may have a Kalispell mailing address, you might not reside within

the city limits. We can help you verify whether your address is within the city limits by calling 758-7849.

How do I Get a City Resident Discount? If you are a Kalispell City property owner all you need to do is let us know what your address is and we can look you up on our

property owner list. If you are a renter we ask that you bring in a current Rental Receipt or Lease Agreement that clearly shows your name, the address, and a recent date. This will prove your residency. Bring proof to 306 First Avenue East. Office hours are Monday

through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Registration

1. You must pre-register for all recreation programs.

2. Class/program sizes are limited & filled on a 1st come 1st serve basis.

3. Participants are not registered until all fees are paid or assistance has been arranged.

4. Complete payment must accompany registration. 5. If financial assistance is needed, limited scholarships are available. (See Scholarships) 6. Registrations received and/or postmarked after the deadline date either by mail or in person will be assessed a $10 late fee and assigned to the first team with space available.

Scholarship Donations

If you wish to contribute an extra dollar or two, your donation will help a child to participate in a recreation program that could not do

so otherwise. Please indicate the amount of your donation on a registration form.

Scholarships

1. Scholarship requests must be made in writing by filling out a scholarship application.

2. Requests must be submitted with sufficient time for review and to meet any deadline.

3. Scholarships are awarded on funds available and on a sliding scale, which is determined by the scholarship application and a

scholarship committee.

4. Scholarships are awarded on funds available and determined on an individual need basis. Each scholarship is limited to one

program per year (based on the City’s fiscal year) and is limited to $100 per child.

Refund/Credit Policy

Not applicable to all programs. Youth camp, afterschool, and reservations have refund policies specific to

programs.

15 1. No refunds given for fees less than $20.

2. No refunds given for requests made less than two full weeks prior to the start date of any class, program, or session; this is due

to the fact that expenses will have already been incurred or in process due to staffing, supplies and/or field trips.

3. No refunds given for circumstances beyond our control such as, but not limited to, natural disasters, acts of war, terrorism, or

epidemics.

4. Requests made two full weeks prior to the start date of any class, program, or session; a full refund will be issued minus a $10

administration fee or a full credit will be issued with a six month expiration date.

5. Requests due to emergencies will be determined by the number of days registered for minus the days missed. Emergencies

such as an illness or injury accompanied by a doctor’s note, loss of employment, or a death in the family will qualify as an

emergency.

6. Emergency requests after 14 days of a missed class, program, or session – No refund/credit given.

7. If a class or program is cancelled by the Recreation Department 100% refund/credit will be given. 8. No refunds/credits given for leaving early or coming late.

9. Credit card refunds will be made only to the same card used for the original transaction minus a $10 administration fee.

10. Youth Camp and After School rollover credits and/or refunds are subject to the parent packet specific to that program.

11. The credit certificate must accompany a registration form to be valid.
