About Astute Business

Astute Business Solutions was engaged to provide wide variety of services to Program Office, KPIT and ETS divisions on various PeopleSoft initiatives at Kaiser including rollout of PeopleSoft systems to new regions, minor enhancements to existing functionalities and system changes to address National Agreement Implementation (NAI) provisions.

Business Challenge

Defined Contribution (DC 1%) Project: Provide an annual 1% Performance based contribution plan when a region’s performance equals or exceeds budgeted margin of plus 0.25%. Configuration, Development, Testing and Production Support responsibilities were handled by Astute resources.

Employer Match Contribution (ER 1.25%) Project: Provide eligible LMP employees, 1.25% of their annual salaries as employer match contribution to those employees participating in a savings plan currently. In 2008, approx 43,000 employees benefited from the distributions with a projected payout of $34 Million. Responsibilities handled by Astute resources include Configuration, Development, Testing, Production Support, Transition and Project Management tasks.

NAI Attendance 2007 Projects: Enhancements and fixes providing short and long term solutions to address issues identified in Payroll, Benefits, Leave Balance and other functional areas.

NAI Attendance 2008 Projects: Enhancements and fixes providing long term system solutions to address issues identified in Payroll, Benefits, Leave Balance and other functional areas.

Time and Labor Projects: Various projects executed under Time and Labor include: Attendance/Absenteeism Tracking & Reporting (National and regional reports that provide progress on attendance management), Attendance Engagement Model (Team collaboration tools to track and report on attendance engagement work and progress) and Time-Off Request Tracking (Online request form to expedite time-off requests, approvals/disapprovals with report summaries for use in planning staffing and backfill at team level).

Healthcare Reimbursement Account Project (HRA): Set up an HRA account for eligible employees who become plan participants when they retire. The account may be used to reimburse participants for medical, dental, vision and hearing care expenses. Define eligibility criteria, calculation rules and disbursement procedure. Prepare business proccess

Attendance Election and Cash-Out Project (2007-2008): Employees were able to elect to cash Attendance Election and Cash-Out Project (2007-2008): Employees were able to elect to cash out unused annual sick leave hours utilizing Hewitt as our benefits service provider. 5,434 employees participated in 2007 election period. Provide an online self service tool for employees to view unused annual sick leave balance and elect to cash out. 4,894 employees participated in the 2008 election period.
