para sa iyo kaibigan Paul Ko, Editor-in-Chief

M aybe you have heard of the story of a man who hated his wife's cat and he decided to get rid of it. He drove 20 blocks away from home and dropped the cat there. The cat was already

walking up the driveway when he approached his home. The next day, he decided to drop the cat 40 blocks away but the same thing happened. He kept on increasing the number of blocks but the cat kept on coming home before him. At last he decided to drive a few miles away, turn right, then left, past the bridge, then right again and another right and so on until he reached what he thought was a perfect spot and dropped the cat there. Hours later, the man called his wife at home and asked her, "Is the cat there?" "Yes, why do you ask?" answered his wife. Frustrated the man said, "Put that cat on the phone, I am lost and I need directions. " Do you need divine directions for life?

The Bible says, "Show me thy ways, 0 LORD; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day. Remember, 0 LORD, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old."

pananaw

ni Pastor Paul Ko

4 Jan-Apr 20 I 2

Page 5: Kaibigan Magazine 2012 V1

Paano babangon sa buhay?

AM IN IN AT I LAP IT ANG KALALAGAYAN SADIYOS

Huwag

Kaibigan 5

Page 6: Kaibigan Magazine 2012 V1

Ang nasulat sa diary niya ay: "From this moment 1 promise that I'll tty to do whatever you tell me for the rest of my life, insofar as you 'l/make it clear to me what your wishes are. I'm weak and many times I'll probably renege (di tumupad) on this. But Lord, you 'll have to help me with that too. Puede natin sabihin sa maikling paraan ang buhay ni Catherine Marshall's: God can, if we will let him touch us.

Knowing that GOD is always with me. But I felt something was still

missing. I remember when I was young, ayokong mamis ang pagdalo ko sa church. I realized I don 't fee l HIS presence. I dont take it seriously asking HIS help.

Year 2009 month of January when I arrived in Taiwan. I am so blessed kasi Kristiyano ang naging amo ko. Nagsimula akong magsimba sa isang church sa downtown Taipei for a year. Ngunit nararamdaman ko that

Kaibi g an 7

Page 8: Kaibigan Magazine 2012 V1

my spirit is not growing.

August 29 first time kong umattend ng TAGALOG FELLOWSHIP worship service.

Buong puso kong tinanggap SlY A bilang aking TAGAPAGLIGTAS.

Taong Mayo 29,20 I 0, I was baptized. The burden that I carry inside me was washed away. I felt a kind of strength that I never felt before.

Alam ko na rin na being a Christian is not always easy. But if GOD is with me, a bed of nails wi ll become a bed full of roses.

2nd Cor. 5; 17 says, am now a new creation because of our LORD JESUS CHRIST,

MY SERVICE AND DEDICATION will be to him until the last breath of my life. Maraming salamat sa ating Pastor Paul, BSCC staff, to my beloved employer to all my friends at MOMS for Jesus. Sana marami pa kayong matulungan kagaya kong minsan na naging madilim ang nakaraan at muting nagliwanag dahil sa ating PANGINOON JESUS. TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!!

Ephesians 5:21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. 22 Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head oft he church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. 25 Husbands, love your wives. just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy. cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself 29 After all, no one ever hated his own body. but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church-- 30 for we are members of his body. 5:31 "For this reason a man will/eave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh." 32 This is a profound mystery-- but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33 However. each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself and the wife must respect her husband.

This arguably the most famous text in the NT on marriage. In what follows we will look at the basic ideas Paul is offering and then look specifically at one.

There are Six basic elements presented here:

I . What is the power for marriage? This is found in v. 21: 'submit yourselves to one another out of fear o,(Christ. ' Fear produces something good. In Psalm 130: 'thou forgives sin, therefore I will fear you.' It seems that fear doesn't mean 'lo be a.fi'aid of or scared of .. ' Fear means to be in awe of, overwhelmed by .... to be in amazement of. So, out of fear of Christ, you are enabled to serve.

Why is this important?

Paul is assuming we 'can ' be unselfish but our nature is self-centeredness. This is the most basic problem of every marriage.

Further, Paul is assuming that the gospel is the answer to this problem. After all, the gospel is that we are more weak than we ever dared believe but more valued and loved than we could have ever dreamed possible. What does this do?

This makes you a strong and a humble person ... both at the same time.

This is the power of a good marriage, and everything that follows is built on this. In other words, we aren't to be legalists or relativists. Think about it this way.

The gospel says we need to continually repent as saved people. All oflife is repentance. The legalist does it out of anxiety, we do it out ofthankfulness to God. This produces gospel based self-esteem. In other words, I can be honest with God about my sin without fear of rejection. No faking or hiding allowed. Out of fear of Christ, knowing what he has done for me makes me humble and courageous. This is the power of marriage.

2. This text also gives us the definition of

JO Jan - Apr 2012

marriage: it is a covenant .... 'cleave unto his wife', means to be glued to, to be bound legally to someone. It means essentially that marriage is an institution of law entered into through public promise.

3. This text also teaches the priority of marriage: 'leave family, leave all other allegiances, and enter into it as a priority'. Before you married, your family was the most powerful force in your life .... now your marriage is. It must have priority over all other relationships. Some never leave their parents/family ...... their parents sti ll have control over their patterns of behavior, even if you hate your parents! What about my job or career? Friends? Marriage has priority over all of these. God invented marriage and it must work according to His rules. If you don't tbllow this it will distort your marriage.

4. Paul lays out the purposes of marriage: 'the two shall become 'one flesh'. This means a relationship of Vulnerability and Exposure. The ultimate purpose is 'soul oneness' .... like physical nakedness ..... no secrets.

The reason you aren't to be naked with someone who is not your spouse is because to do this, to only expose part of yourself, leads to distortion .... the total 'you' isn't there. And this is distorting to the image God has in us.

5. This text a lso tells us something about the structure of marriage: the structure of marriage is the 'head body· relationship. Complimentary functions. The differences are important if we are going to complete one another. To recognize and operate out of these is essential. The roles are not interchangeable.

6. Lastly, Paul tells us something about the mystery of marriage: marriage is basically a mirror of the relationship between Christ and his church. Notice that the entire relationship in marriage is based on the metaphors of Christ relating to his church. When a man and woman are united in marriage, we glimpse what it will

Page 11: Kaibigan Magazine 2012 V1

be like to know Him on the last day when he returns for his church. To be washed? 'to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without sta in or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.

In other words, Marriage is invented by God to be a vehicle to turn you into someone holy. It is meant to give us a foretaste of eternity with Him.

Marriage is not an 'end in itself· It is not the ultimate objective but the means designed by god to turn us into some else, someone holy. Marriage involves ridding each other of the dirt/faults that we have. Anyone married knows this is not a 'spa' experience. Cleaning wounds is painful.

1 Corinthians 4:5 Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time: wait till the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives o.fmen's hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God.

So will marriage. Marriage reveals the flaws in each of us. Marriage doesn't create the flaws .... it reveals them. Your pride, worry, ego, self-righteousness? When your friend tells you something, you can ignore it or leave. Not in

marriage ... it is a covenant. Marriage holds a mirror up to you ...... the real you is there. It is tough and painful.

For the first time in your life, you will discover your flaws in a way you cannot escape them .... and you will find out how much you really need Jesus. The things your parents tried to tell you, your fi·iends, etc ...... are now being revealed by your ·tove. ·

Marriage brings out the worst in you. Why? Because marriage reveals your heart. So what happens is that your marriage will show you your true self and that will call you to an encounter with God like you've never had before. lffi·iends sharpen you like 'iron shmpens iron.' just think what your wife can do!

When a gemologist polishes fine stones, he places the diamonds in a small device called a 'gem tumbler' and places some grinding compound inside, spins the wheel and in the end, beautiful shiny stones are revealed. Marriage is the grinding compound God uses to shine and polish us into the image of His Son Jesus.

Are you the real Robert Redford?

Ang tutuo lahat tayo to some degree ay ipokrito.

!sang palsipikadong alagad. Tinawag siyang "doomed to destruction'' sa Juan 17:12.

Part 2 of The Chief End of Man is Glorifying God and Enjoying Him Forever

Okay, maybe this isn't REALLY what happened, but I think it's funny nevertheless :)

On the very first day, God created the cow. He said to the cow, "Today I have created you! As a cow, you must go to the field with the farmer all day long. You will work all day under the sun! I will give you a life span of 50 years ... "

The cow objected, "What? This kind of tough life you want me to live for 50 years? Let me have 20 years, and the 30 years I'll give back to you." So God agreed.

On the second day, God created the dog. God said to the dog, ··What y ou are supposed to do is to sit all day by the door of your house. Any people that come in, you will have to bark at them! I 'll give a life span of20 years. ··

The dog objected, "What? All day long to sit by the door? No way! I give you back my other 10 years of life! " So God agreed.

On the third day, God created the monkey. He said to the monkey, ''Monkeys have to entertain people. You ·ve got to make them laugh and do monkey tricks. I'll give you 20 years life span. "

The monkey objected. ··What? Make them laugh? Do monkey faces and tricks? Ten years will do, and the other I 0 years rl! give you back. " So God agreed.

On the fourth day, God created man and said to him, ·· Yow'job is to sleep, eat, and play. You will

enjoy ve1y much in your life. All you need to do is to enjoy and do nothing. This kind of life, I'll give you a 20 year life span. "

The man objected ... What? Such a good life! Eat, play. sleep, do nothing? Enjoy the best and you expect me to live only for 20 years? No way, man! Why don 't we make a deal? Since the cow gave you back 30 years, and the dog gave you back I 0 years and the monkey gave you back I 0 years. I will take them from you! That makes my life span 70 years. right?" So God agreed.

AND THAT'S WHY .... In our first 20 years, we eat, sleep, play, enjoy the

best and do nothing much. For the next 30 years, we work all day long, suffer and get to support the family. For the next I 0 years, we entertain our grandchi ldren by making monkey faces and monkey tricks. And for the last I 0 years, we stay at home, sit by the front door and bark at people! But do you want a better deal with God?

Last Sunday Jan. I, 2012 we were reflecting on the question "What is the chief end of man?" and the answer, "The chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy Himforevel: " Today we shall reflect on the second part of that answer and that's enjoying him forever. What does it mean to enjoy God forever? Enjoying God means (I) Loving God (2) Investing Life for God's purpose (3) Enduring suffering, trials and persecutions. Enjoying God means ...

LOVING GOD Our whole life's joy is dependent on loving God

with our whole being. The point of Jesus is made clear regarding enjoying God in Matthew 22:34-40. There was a conversation between Jesus and the Sadducees about a certain issue and the Pharisees joined the conversation.

''Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees. the Pharisees got together. One of them. an experl in the law. tested him with this question: "Teacher. which is the greatest commandmenl in the Law?" Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.· This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

Jesus said in Mark 12:28b-31 passage said, ''there is no other commandment greater than these."'

The point: You can have religion like what the Pharisees and the Sadducees have, observing the rules and regulations of the law, and yet live a life dead, lifeless and withoutjoy. To Jesus, loving God is the main thing that gives life and joy! Not the religious rules and laws without it! God's love is what drives the law, not the other way around. To the religious leaders, the law drives their religion that seems to exclude love.

But what does it mean to "love God?" How do I know if I love God? What precisely should a man do or feel to fulfill this greatest of all commandments? Let us go over some Bible passages that answer the question:

If you love me, you will keep my commandments. John 14:15. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love: just as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in His love. John 15:10 He who has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me ... John 14:21 .. .for he who loves his neighbor has

fulfilled the law. For this, 'You shall not commit adulte1y, you shall not murde1~ you shall not steal, you shall not covet'. and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this saying, 'You

16 Jan - Apr 2012

shall love your neighbor as yourself' ... therefore love is the fulfillment oft he law. Roms./3:8a-10 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome. JJohn 5:3

There are more of similar passages even in the Old Testament.

God's s ingle highest priority for mankind, or for any specific man, is that a man love God by obeying His commandments. This is the truth. This is from God. There is no more important pursuit, no greater commandment, no more supreme duty. If any man dreams up a higher calling then he fails to grasp the very nature of "the whole Law and the Prophets." The Love of God mobilizes us to obey the law, not following the law in the absence of loving God. It is the Spirit of loving God that we see the wisdom of why we should obey God's command. We understand why we have to obey. That is why we enjoy God forever because of the result of our obedience. l believe that loving God by obeying His commandment ensure that I get maximum joy so that God gets the maximum glory! Enjoying God means ....

INVESTING LIFE FOR GOD'S ETERNAL PURPOSE

In what is the Apostle Paul investing His life? Philippians 1 :21 , Paul says,

"For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain."

What does Paul mean here? He is saying I find my life joyful, meaningful, purposeful, productive, and happy only in Christ. 1t is in Christ that he wanted to invest wholly his entire life. The return on the eternal investment he seeking is expressed in Phil. 3:8,

''What is more. 1 consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.jor whose sake I have lost all things. 1 consider them garbage that 1 may gain Christ"

Paul was extremely happy as a result. He wrote in Philippians,

''Rejoice and again I say Rejoice!" Where is your life invested? Do they satisfy

your li fe? When we witness the power and glory of God at work in Christ, when we have tasted God unfailing love because of the grace he lavished on us, all the spiritual blessings indicated in Ephesians I :3-1 0, when God put his Holy Spirit in you, your motivation in life change. See how the Psalmist

Page 17: Kaibigan Magazine 2012 V1

expressed his experience. "I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than l{fe, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as !live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods: with singing lips my mouth will praise you. " ... -Psalm 63:2-5

Life not invested in and for God is vain, useless life. It does not satisfy. It bores. No wonder why many people who seem to have everything in this life find it a hollow life. There is that hole in the center of their lives that only God can fill. Why would some people hate their lives and commit suicide in spite ofhaving everything in this world? Because they find no meaning and purpose there. The Apostle Paul finds no meaning and purpose in human religion and strivings. It was a wasted investment. He knows because he has served a dead religion zealously. He found that God's love and purpose is better than li fe. Have you tried investing more of your time, talent and resources in God's eternal purpose? May I encourage you if you have not done so yet you may when Pastor Michael Payne arrives and start leading the church next week; don't ask him what he can do for our church. Ask yourself what you can do to help Pastor Mike grow our church to the glory of God. Make an eternal investment. Offer your time, talent and resources to the maximum in God's work and experience the joy it entails. Enjoying God means ....

ENDURING SUFFERING, TRIALS, OR PERSECUTIONS

Enjoying God does not exclude suffering, trials and persecution but every experience will be for your spiritual benefit as well. Enjoying God is not fi·eedom from these things. When we choose to enjoy God, we choose to endure whatever suffering, trials and persecution that may come our way. We do not avoid them. We count it al l joy. We choose to join Christ in His sufferings. We endure suffering for Christ because of the glory it brings to God and the salvation it brings to others. In fact suffering display the glory of God. Let us take the example of the Apostle Paul. Who among us have suffered the same c ircumstance that the Apostle Paul went through? He chooses and does things out of Love of God in whom he delights in. The Apostle Paul shared his experience:

1 Corinthians 1:8-10, Paul wrote, ··we

do not want you to be uninformed. brothers and sisters, about the troubles we experienced in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of lifo itself Indeed, we felt we had received the sentence of death.

But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us again. On him we have set our hope that he wi ll continue to deliver us." And in,

2 Corinthians 4:7-17. ·?but we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 8 We are hard pressed on evety side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair: 9 persecllfed, but not abandoned: struck down, but not destroyed. 10 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. 11 For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus· sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body. 12 So then, death is at work in us. but life is at work in you ........ 15 All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to ovetflow to the glory of God. 16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet imvardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 for our light and momentary troubles are achievingfor us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. "Paul finds greater meaning and joy in God ·s eternal love and purpose.

Indeed enjoying God includes taking up your cross. Matthew 16:24 says,

"Then Jesus said to his disciples, ··whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross andfollow me."

You don't find satisfying life if you want to save it on your terms. You find satisfying life by loving God and obeying Him even through suffering, trials and persecution!

2 Tim. 3:12 says, "In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus

Kaibigan 17

Page 18: Kaibigan Magazine 2012 V1

will be persecuted in the world." I Pet. 4:I2, "Dear friends, do not be surprised at thejieryordeaithat has come on you to test you. as though something strange were happening to you." Phil. I:29 says, 'For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him."

In Colossians I :24-29, Apostle Paul says, 'Now I rejoice in what I am suffering/or you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ's afflictions. for the sake of his body, which is the church. 25 I have become its servant by the commission God gave me to present to you the word of God in its fullness- 26 the myste1y that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the Lord's people. 27 to them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glmy. 28 He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone ji.dly mature in Christ. 29 To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me."

2 Tim. I :8 says, "So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner. Rathet; join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God. "

You cannot enjoy God if you are ashamed of the testimony of being a prisoner of Him.

In Acts 5:41, The apostles Peter and John after being flogged for speaking in the name of Christ were enjoying or rejoicing or are happy in spite of what they have received from the hands of the religious leaders and quote, •· The apostles left the Sanhedrin. rejoicing because they had been counted worlhy of suffering disgrace for the Name .. , They even told the re ligious leaders happi ly; ''we ought /o obey God rather /han men" (Acts 5:29). That's an example of how the Apostles enjoy God because the suffering is nothing compared to being counted worthy for Christ.

There is a better way to maximize real joy and pleasure on earth. If we love God supremely, circumstance is irrelevant because delight is in God. Enduring suffering for Christ is gain and

J8 Jan -Apr 2012

gives glory to God. In Phil. 2:5-8 Paul says, "In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God. did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage: 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death- even death on a cross!''

Jesus our Lord endured the cross and death. Why?

Hebrews 12: 2-3, says, ''Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and pe1:(ecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross. scorning its shame, and sal down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart." There is eternal joy and bliss for enduring suffering for the Gospel!

James I: 2-4 tell believers why they should welcome trials and sufferings when he wrote, "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."

In growing the joy of this church, endure whatever hardship we must face for the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

CONCLUS ION: Enjoying God means (I) Loving God (2) Investing Life for God's Purpose, (3) Enduring sufferings, trials and persecutions.

We are summoned not to a miserable life, but summoned to display the glory of God on earth because we were created by Him and For Him alone. We can realize joyful life by our love and obedience to Him even through sufferings and trials of many kinds. The whole experience of really enjoying God is dependent on loving Him, obeying Him to fulfill his purpose with whole heart, soul, and mind!

manufacturing sectors ay mga dalaga at binata edad 25-30 years old.

10 Possible Causes of Fatigue

The biggest cause of tiredness these days, says Ralston, is "the modern American lifestyle. Being overweight, eating too many fast

foods, and not exercising enough. ·• There are three key lifestyle changes that

can make a big difference in your energy level, doctors say:

I. What you eat. Don't try for a quick-fix spurt of energy from caffeine and sugar; it will only leave you more fatigued as your blood sugar levels fluctuate wildly. Instead, go for a balanced, healthy diet replete with fruits, vegetables, and lean protein. "Most people fee/like they're less tired if they eat a healthy diet, " says Ralston. Eating healthy a lso means you'll carry less weight, and obesity is a big contributor to fatigue.

2. How much you sleep. About 60% of women, according to the 2007 Sleep in America poll, say they only get a few good nights' sleep a week or less. To get more Zs, avoid caffeine

26 Jan - Apr 2012

and alcohol in the hours just before bedtime, and keep your sleep space quiet and restful.

3. How much you exercise. This is the biggie, says Ralston. He suggests that the best prescription for ordinary, garden-variety tiredness is regular, vigorous exercise. Complete your exercise at least three hours before bedtime.

Shouldn' t exercise tire you out, not rev you up? The reality is that exercise breeds energy. Almost all the studies that have looked at this question have found the same thing: Sedentary people who start exercising fee l much less fatigue than people who continue to s louch on the couch -- and exercise often boosts energy even more than medication.

So what's the prescription? How much exercise do you need, how often, and for how long, before you start noticing an end to your exhaustion? Ralston recommends 40 minutes, at least four days a week, to get you going.

How soon should you see results? It took you awhile to get this worn out, and you're not going to

Page 27: Kaibigan Magazine 2012 V1

feel better overnight. "You need to give it at least a month," Ralston advises. Within that time, you should feel at least some improvement. Keep with it for three to six months more, and you should start feeling much better.

If you follow your exercise prescription for at least a month -- and you're also making enough time for sleep-- and you're still feeling lousy, look into other causes, Ralston advises.

What Else Could Be Wrong? Chronic tiredness is associated with many

different medical conditions. How can you figure out which one might be the culprit?

The short answer is, you can't tell. You'll need a doctor for that.

Here are some of the top suspects, according to Sandra Fryhofer, MD, clinical associate professor of medicine at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta and a past president of the American College of Physicians:

4. Anemia. "This is a very common cause of fatigue and very easy to check with a simple blood test," she says. " It 's particularly a problem for women, especially those who are having heavy menstrual periods." You can remedy anemia with an iron-rich diet, heavy in meats and dark, leafy greens, or supplements if you have a chronic iron deficiency.

5. Deficiencies in key nutrients, such as potassium. Again, this is easily checked with blood testing.

6. Thyroid problems . Over- and under-active thyroids both can cause fatigue, Fryhofer says. A blood test for your level of thyroid-

stimulating hormone can help evaluate your thyroid function.

7. Diabetes. People who have uncontro lled diabetes "'just plain don 'tfeel good. "Fryhofer says. "If you feel draggy and you're also having blurred vision or lots of urination, you should get that checked with a blood test. "

8. Depression. If your feelings of exhaustion are accompanied by sadness and loss of appetite, and you just can't take any pleasure in things you once enjoyed, you may be experiencing depression.

9. Obstructive sleep apnea. If you never feel rested, ask the person you sleep with if you're bothering them with your snoring. If they say yes, look into testing at a sleep lab. Some other symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea include waking up each morning feeling unrefreshed and having morning headaches.

I 0. Undiagnosed heart disease. Tiredness can be a sign of heart trouble, particularly in women, Ralston says. "If you have trouble with exercise you used to do easily, or if you start feeling worse when you exercise, this could be a red flag for heart trouble. If you have any doubts, see your doct01: "

Resolving Anger Doesn't Require Venting

When we talk about calming down and controlling anger, we don ' t mean denying it. Some people may think that

controlling anger means ignoring it, pushing it away, or stifling it. That is unproductive. We want to teach children a strategy to address their feelings and manage them in a healthy way. Anger should not be stiRed and ignored, but rage does need to be controlled.

Some people believe that the only way to get rid of anger is to drain it by venting. Unfortunately, this venting doesn't take into consideration the person upon whom that anger is vented. Venting anger is selfish and hurtful to others; it's a demonstration of a lack of self-control.

Often the expression of anger is harmful and hurtful to other people. Proverbs 29: II says,

':A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control."

Venting anger may bring immediate resolution on a feeling level. Exploding and venting anger often helps a person feel better. The problem is, allowing children to vent their anger doesn't teach them how to manage their emotions in constructive ways. So the next time the child feels enraged, he is more likely to be explosive.

The solution is to help children learn to control their emotions and funne l the energy into constructive solutions. The most important key in any anger management plan is to learn to

28 Jan -Apr 2012

stop and take a break from the situation to sett l e down and then reenter in a more self controlled way.

Refuse to dialogue with children when they're angry. Require an angry ch ild to sit in the hall or on the bottom step and settle down before proceeding. If you dialogue with an angry child you may even get angry as well and then a battle will ensue. Don't let anger control your fami ly dynamics. If your child even begins to get angry, stop the process sooner.

This tip comes from Chapter 5 '' Dealing with Anger in Children" in the book Home Improvement, The Parenting Book You Can Read to Your Kids by Dr Sc.on Turansky and Joanne Miller, RN, BSN.at www.biblicalparenting.org.

SalibNya adalah kehendak Bapa

(Kebaktian Jumat Agung-20 12)

Firman: Yesaya 53: 10-12

S iapakah yang menyalibkan Tuhan Yesus? Siapakah sebenarnya yang mengambil nyawaNya? Orang Yahudi-kah? Tentara

tentara Romawi-kah?

(Rom 5:8). Apa yang te1jadi?

I.Anak menebus dosa manusia. ''ia menyerahkan dirinya sebagai korban penebus salah" (ay JOb). (Kalam Hidup: korban penebus dosa). Dosa apa? "karena pemberontakan kita'' (ay 5). "karena kejahatan kit a" (ay 5). "Kita sekalian sesal seperti domba, masing-masing leila mengambil jalannya sendiri" (ay 6), tidak mau taat dan menentang kehendakNya. Rasul Paulus berkata ..

2.Anak memberi kemenangan " ... ia ak.an melihal lerang dan menjadi puas" (ay 11 ). ·· I ni adalah jemaat Kristus!

Holy Living (Colossians 3 : 12- 17, NIY)

Therefore, as God 's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with lc_mp_ssion l, lk_ndn_ssl, humility,lg_ntl_nessl and patience. Bear with each other and lforg_vel one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on II_ ve l, which binds them a ll together in perfect lun_ tyl. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to lp_acel. And be lth_nkfull . Let the message of Christ dwel l among you richly as you teach and ladm_nish l one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with lgr_ tit_del in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
