Kaduna State Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture is to partner with EZZYKASH Media Partners and The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Kaduna state chapter for the maiden edition of Kaduna State Films Festival tagged “Unifying Nigeria through Films”. The festival is intended to be an annual event that will propagate culture, explore tourism potentials and promote the film industry in Kaduna and Nigeria at large. The festival which is expected to bring together great and prominent stakeholders in Nigeria's entertainment industry; actors, film makers, producers, entrepreneurs, investors and unions, will help youths to acquire skills for entrepreneurship and employments through film production there by helping to further reduce social vices in the state. Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development is leaving no stone unturned in preparation for the 3rd Women Economic Empowerment Summit. As a step in that direction, the ministry embarked on advocacy visits to line Ministries with the aim of soliciting for working collaboration with them to ensure the success of the summit. One of such Ministries visited was the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture.

During the visit, the Commissioner, Hon. Daniel Danauta pledged his unwavering support for the project as it centers on youths as the core mandate of his ministry. The commissioner noted that the project has both a national and state obligation to fulfil.“Achieving goal 5 of the SDG is an obligation we all must fulfil as a people, as our dear state made history in 2017 as the first state in the country to launch the local SDGs data and strategy development for implementation” he further noted, “This therefore calls for action to enable the achievement of those goals” Hon. Danauta then assigned one of the management staff of the ministry, Hajiya Maryam Muazu as the desk officer of this project.

Earlier in her presentation to the Commissioner, the

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs and

Social Development, Umma K. Ahmed explained that

the visit was in connection with the forth coming

Women Empowerment Summit which is planned to

take a different dimension with a focus on youths. She

said this is because the ministry believes that

addressing gender issues require innovation and an

opportunistic trait and every opportunity and chance

must be seized to expand the space for women and

the poor generally.

The dimension of this year's summit is leveraging on

the presentation of the Deputy Governor of Kaduna

state, Arch. Barnabas Bala Bantex at the 72nd UN

General Assembly on the state's effort towards

achieving goal 5 of the Sustainable Development

Goals i.e. “Achieving Gender Equality”.

Since gender inequality is a human issue rather than

just a woman issue, the ministry is planning this

edition of the summit to create an opportunity to

change the narratives on the involvement of Kaduna

youths in enhancing gender equity.

This year's summit is aimed at promoting gender

sensitization that will polarize traditional gender roles

and suggest alternative way of thinking and

behaviour that youths can associate with.

Women Economic Empowerment Summit is an

annual event of the Ministry of Women Affairs and

Social Development and it is used to commemorate

the international Women's day. Its first edition held in

2016.

The Commissioner of Youth Sports and Culture, Hon

Daniel Danauta was presented with players of and a

use for training.

The Commissioner of Youths, Sports and Culture, on

behalf of the Kaduna state government, expressed

profound appreciation to the State Association

Chairman for the support and resources been sunk to

never be sufficient for sports because it is seen as a

recreational and leisure activity, it is important to note

that sports is big business and an economic venture

that will one day get ahead of oil.

The Permanent Secretary, Mal. Musa Adamu, who is

also a squash veteran, congratulated the players for

making the state proud, he encouraged them to be
