Swimming Carnival
Congratulations to all students who attended and participated in our Annual Swimming Carnival, which was held at the Lismore Memorial Baths on Thursday February 14. Now although this date clashed with Valentines day it was clear there was going to be no love lost in the pool between the houses as they competed feverishly for the title so comprehensively won by Bradman house last year. I was very impressed with the enthusiasm, participation and cooperation of so many students throughout the day especially given the at times drizzling rain that fell at times. Congratulations to Cuthbert house (709 points) for winning the Carnival and holding off a fast finishing Newcombe house (698 points) in 2nd place. They were not so closely followed by Bradman (3rd) and Fraser house in 4th. Perhaps the mighty powerhouses of the past few years are finally slipping.
The following students were our age champions:
Boys Girls12 years Cooper Power Elanor Gibson13 years Samuel Roberts Tilly Smith14 years Jack Jung Chloe Bertram 15 years Billy Wright Carly Hamshaw 16 years Byron Wright Sinovai Rooney17+ years Spencer Sullivan Amelia Jones Wright Many thanks to the following staff who are our House Patrons for 2019:
Bradman Mr Kirkland Fraser Mr Van den BergCuthbert Mr Condon Newcombe Mr Wallace
Our House Patrons are supported by a wonderful group of Sporting House Captains and Vice Captains and I would also like to acknowledge their efforts in motivating our students at the carnival. I look forward to working with you at our upcoming sporting events.
I would also like to give a special thank you to our enthusiastic Teachers, for their efforts in making this day a success. Thank you
Well done Year 12 for your spirited participation on the day. This was clearly evident all day and in the Staff vs. Year 12 Relay; however despite entering 3 teams, youthful exuberance was no match for the talent and expe-rience of the Staff team that blew the students out of the water to remain undefeated for the past 6 years..
Finally, good luck to all swimmers who will be representing our school at the Zone Swimming Carnival at Lis-more on Tuesday February 26.
ThanksMr Dalli – Carnival Organiser

Oh behalf of the school community I would like to welcome you to The Rivers Secondary College, Kadina High Campus.
The Rivers Secondary College, Kadina High Campus has a proud history of achievement.
We continually aim to provide quality education to develop the individual talents, interests and abilities of our students to give them the capability and confidence to succeed in the 21st century.
We are a co-educational, comprehensive high school, seeking always to provide our students with the opportunities to acquire the knowledge, understanding, skills and values for productive and rewarding lives.
Our facilities include a fully operational Trade Training Centre. The Trade Training Centre included an upgrade of several million dollars to both Hospitality and Metals. The school gymnasium funded through the Premier Sporting grants is fully operational. Students and their parents have many expectations of education. It is our aim to fulfill these expectations. These facilities continue to give our students new and exciting experiences.
A covered outdoor learning area has been constructed against the art classrooms allowing additional outdoor covered learning areas for both art classes and SVET classes.
A newly renovated air conditioned learning space upstairs in the library includes new furniture with tables that the students can draw on and use for collaboration. We have also introduced a class set of brand new high end touch screen laptops for all students of Kadina to use.
Refurbishment of our Music rooms now offers the highest standards in the performing arts.We have caring, experienced and well-qualified teachers, who are committed to encouraging personal excellence enhanced by our supportive student welfare and discipline system.
I wish all the best for your childs education throughout 2019 and beyond.
Yours sincerely,
Pr incipals Welcome
2019 School Captains with The Hon. Thomas George, MP and Executive Principal Mr Greg Smith and Kadina High Campus Principal Mr Ian Davies.
Student Representat ive Counci l (SRC )
After being formally inducted Friday morning, the 2019 Kadina High Campus SRC got straight to work developing their objectives for the year.
They formed committees to target the key areas they want to improve around the school for 2019. These areas include student health and wellbeing initiatives, increasing school spirit and improving student learning and recreation spaces in the school.
The 2019 Kadina High Campus SRC are an enthusiastic group of young leaders and I look forward to seeing their achievements throughout the year.
Elizabeth Clifford, SRC Teacher Coordinator
Student Representat ive Counci l (SRC ) Af ternoon
Thank you to all family, friends, parents and carers who attended this years Induction of Student Leaders Student Representative Council. A special thanks to The Hon. Thomas George, MP - Parliament of NSW who is a regular attendee at this special event.
Our SRC is a group of students elected by their fellow peers to represent all students on our campus. The students are actively involved in opportunities to organise ways for students to participate in campus life. The SRC works democratically to represent the student body in school decision-making. Our students work together, with support and guidance from Ms Clifford, to improve school life and to contribute students' ideas. After the assembly the newly elected students spent time brainstorming how they would like to contribute to the campus in coming months.
ONSTAGE Excurs ion to SydneyHSC and Year 11 Drama students from The Rivers College, accompanied by Mr Sassi and Miss McKinlay, travelled to Sydney this week to attend HSC Onstage at the Seymour Centre, University of Sydney. Over two nights we watched a selection of the best Individual and Group Performances from the 2018 Drama cohort across the state. In the foyer were also displays of the best Individual Projects in Costume Design, Publicity, Set Design, and Critical Analysis.Students visited Belvoir Street Theatre where we watched an archived performance of 'Stolen', one of the HSC compulsory texts and participated in a private workshop developing our Group Project skills. We also attended the National Institute of Dramatic Arts which included another private Group skills workshop and a backstage tour of the facilities.
On the final afternoon we visited the NSW Art Gallery to view ARTXPRESS, the best HSC Visual Art works from 2018; In between much sightseeing was done which included the Sydney Theatre Arts precinct, The Sydney Opera House, Circular Quay, The Rocks, Pitt Street Mall, The Queen Victoria Arcade, Chinatown and Darling Harbour. All the students conducted themselves impeccably and participated in workshops with great gusto and committment.
Thanks to all who attended. It was a fantastic learning experience for all.
