Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten Week of April 13th to 17th Dear K4 Parents, Here is the 2nd ‘kit’ from the Quebec Ministry (MEES) for Week 2 with some activity suggestions for K4 students to do at home while school is closed this week. Once again, there are some cute ideas here for outdoor play, making a fruit salad together, lots of links to Spring stories on Youtube (in English and French) and even an artist study (Paul Cezanne)! Please remember that during these trying and uncertain times, we understand that the stress upon families can be very overwhelming. These activities are by no means intended to add more stress to your household. The kits are not mandatory and will not be evaluated. They are simply available for you to use if you need ideas of things to work on with the kiddies. We will be emailing a new kit every week, as well as posting extra activities on our Howick’s Pre-K Facebook page. We will continue to be in touch weekly by video or phone to say hi to our little cuties, check in with the families and to see if you have any questions or need help with the kit posted this week. We look forward to hearing from our K4 cuties about what they’ve been up to. Take care of yourselves and stay safe. Miss Melissa, Miss Lamb, Miss K, Miss Megan and Miss Val

A CHILD WHO PLAYS IS A CHILD WHO LEARNS

Playing naturally allows the child to explore and learn about the world around them.

Your child already has many interests. The intention of these age-appropriate activities and ideas is to provide a variety of things that will allow them to explore daily ;

• Big and small movements, dance ;

• Express what they feel and understand ;

• Paricipate and cooperate

• Talk, listen, sing, invent and use thier imagination

• Reflect, ask questions and look for answers

About the activities

In reassuring your child, the family routine that you have established over the past few weeks is important. The morning routine (breakfast, tooth brushing etc.) lunch, nap and dinner and the bedtime routine (bath, tooth brushing, story etc.) and all part of what allow children to feel some sort of normalcy in thier day. These routines help children to understand and develop cooperation, control of thier emotions. Routine activities also allow them to become more independant like Little Brown Bear, when he dresses himself in the following video :

Play is the best way for young children to learn.

• Bouger (grands et petits mouvements), danser;
