    UNPACKING AND INSTALLATION PROCEDUREFOR THE MAIN BODY AND OPTIONS

    I. Installation Space (Unit:mm)

    II. Confirmation Prior To Installation1. Select a flat and stable place suitable for installing

    the machine.2. Confirm that the voltage and the frequency meet

    the product specifications, and that the currentcapacity of outlet meets the specified one and or

    over.3. Supply the power for the machine directly from an

    dedicated power outlet. (Do not use an extensioncord.)

    4. Do not plug or unplug the power cord with wet ordirty hand. (There is the risk that may cause aelectric shock.)

    5. Do not install the machine in a high temperatureand high humid place, and/or in a place under thedirect rays of the sun.

    6. Do not install the machine in a dusty place, and/ornear volatile flammable substances.

    7. Do not install the machine in a poorly ventilatedplace.

    1. Place the wooden spacers under the Adjuster feet.Then extend the Adjuster feet enough to removethe cushions with the spanner attached to theaccessory box (Fig. 05).

    2. Remove the cushions. Then wind up the Adjuster

    feet again to let the machine descend onto thepallet. Be sure to work on the above steps 1 and 2in succession, respectively for the right side andleft side of the machine.

    3. Fix the veneer with 2 nails at the right end face ofthe pallet, setting its beveled portion upward (Fig.06).

    4. Set the 4 cushions and 4 wooden spacers removedfrom the machine, below the veneer as illustratedbelow. (Fig. 07).

    5. Bring down the machine carefully on the floor bytwo persons (Fig. 08).

    Caution:

    Confirm that the Adjuster feet are fully wound upbefore moving the machine.

    V. Installation Procedure

    Caution:

    Confirm the Main switch is OFF and the power cordis unplugged.

    1. Inspect the outward of the Main body and confirmthat there is no damage.

    2. Remove the wrapping sheet on the RADF.

    3. Remove the locking tapes put on the exteriorpanels (Fig. 09).

    Caution:

    Locking guide tapes indicate the portions to beunlocked, so that those tapes should be removedafter the completion of each unlocking procedure.

    4. Open the RADF, and remove the glass protectingcushion and the glass protecting paper (Fig. 10).

    5. Open the Bypass tray. Insert a screwdriver into theguide hole of the Optics unit locking screw, whichlocates on the left hand near the locking guide tape,and then fully loosen the Optics unit locking screw.

    Remove the locking guide tapes on the Working tableand the Bypass tray (Fig. 11).

    Caution:

    The Optics unit locking screw can not be removed butonly can be loosened.

    6. Remove the locking tapes within the Trays.(1) Open the Front door (left). Withdraw the Tray 1

    while pressing the Lock lever mounted on theleft side of the Tray (Fig. 12).

    (2) Remove the locking tapes and locking guidetape of the Tray 1 (Fig. 13).

    (3) Repeat the procedure (1) and (2) to remove thelocking tapes and locking guide tapes of the Tray

    2 and Tray 3.7. Release the ADU lock.

    (1) Withdraw the Tray 1.(2) Remove the ADU lock screw. (Arrowq)(3) Slide the ADU lock piece (red) to the right.

    (Arrow w)(4) Turn the ADU lock piece to remove it. (Arrowe)

    (5) Return the Tray 1 to its original position.(6) Remove the three ADU lock screws (right side:

    1pc. left side: 2pcs.), then remove the two ADUlock pieces. (Arrowsr&t)

    (7) Release the ADU lock located at the bottom ofADU unit by turning it with a finger to the left.While the ADU lock in release, turn the Releaselever to the right. (Arrowsy&u)

    (8) Withdraw the ADU unit while holding the ADUcushion. (Arrowsi&o)

    Caution:

    When drawing out the ADU unit, be sure that all

    the main body trays are returned in place.

    (10) Turn the Reversal paper exit unit and the Jamrecovery lever to the left and remove the Pre-fixing unit cover by loosening 2 screws. Theninsert a screwdriver into the hole of thePressure release shaft and rotate it for 105degree counterclockwise (Fig. 16).

    (7) Hold both ends of the Developing unit andremove it carefully from the Drum unit supportassembly.

    (8) Pull up the claws of the upper cover to removeit (Fig. 22).

    (10) Rotate the Developing gear counterclockwisewith a minus screwdriver, to coat the Developeraround the Developing sleeve completely (Fig.24).

    Caution:Do not rotate the Developing gear clockwise.

    (13) Release the Cleaner unit by turning the Cleanerlock lever in the arrow direction. Disconnectthe connector (1pc.) from the Stay. Hold theboth ends of the Cleaner, and pull it out alongthe shape of the bracket bottom (Fig. 26).

    (9) Add the developer evenly from the top of theAgitator screw along its entire length (Fig. 23).

    (11) Reinstall the Developing unit cover.

    Caution:

    Confirm that both the bosses of the upper coverare put into the slots on the Developing unit (SeeFigure 22).(12) Disconnect the connector (1pc.) from the

    Charging corona unit, and remove it holdingthe both grips (Fig. 25).

    Caution:The Charging corona unit must be faced up when itplaced.

    (14) Disconnect 3 connectors and loosen 2 screwsof the Stay. Remove the Stay (Fig. 27).

    (15) Loosen a screw (A) and remove a screw (B) ofthe Sensor cover. Then move one end of theSensor cover away from the Drum (Fig. 28).

    (16) Hold both ends of the Drum and remove it asshown in the figure (Fig. 29).

    (19) Hold the both ends of the Drum in the positionthat the powder applied portion faces towardthe Cleaner. Then insert the Drum, tilting asshown in the figure. When the rear end of theDrum reaches an end, place the front end atthe position (Fig. 31).

    Caution:Do not put the Drum on the rib of the Drum cartridge.

    (20) Reinstall the Sensor cover and secure it.

    Caution:Be sure to secure the Sensor cover so as to contactthe stopper bosses on the cartridge.(21) Reinstall the Stay and connect the connector.

    Caution:When connecting the connector of the wiring linkedto the charged electrode, be sure that the Wiringband to be used as a mark should be positionedinside the Edge saddle (to the Drum side).(See Fig. 25.)

    (22) Reinstall the Developing unit.qReinstall the Developing unit on the Drum unit

    support assembly by the reversed procedureof (7).

    wConfirm that the Stopper roll (See Figure 22)contacts the Stopper plate (See Figure 31)and can not rotate.

    Caution:Keep the Developing sleeve off the front panelof the Drum unit support assembly when installingit. The vertical approach is recommended.

    (17) Apply the setting powder on the surface of theDrum by a whole round.

    (18) Clean the surfaces of Gamma detection sensorand Maximum density detection sensor withalcohol and a cotton swab (Fig. 30).

    (23) Reinstall the Developer suction box.(24) Charge the 1st Cleaner blade (Fig.32).

    Note:

    The 2nd Cleaner blade is charged at the factory.qPush up the Blade unlock arm for the arrow

    direction until it stops.wRotate the Blade charge lever fully for the

    arrow direction.

    Caution:Hold the Blade unlock arm pushing up.

    eRelease the Blade unlock arm.

    Caution:Hold the Blade charge lever at the full rotatedposition.rRelease the Blade charge lever.

    (25) Check the warp of the Toner leakage preventiveguide sheet of the Cleaner unit (Fig. 33).

    Caution:

    Toner leakage may be brought about, If the guidesheet at the both ends of Cleaner unit is warpedslightly toward the Toner guide brush. If so, modifythat portions of the guide sheet by referencing theprocedureq.qModify the warp of the Toner leakage pre-

    ventive guide sheet to make parallel with theToner guide brush, or to warp slightly (lessthan 1mm) off the Toner guide brush.

    (26)Reinstall the Cleaner unit and connect theconnector.

    (27) Reinstall the Charging corona unit and connectthe connector.

    (28) Return the Drum unit support assembly to theoriginal position and secure it with 2 screws.

    (29) Insert the Coupling to the Drum shaft, meetingthe keyway of Drum shaft and the engraving

    (A) of Coupling. Then apply a plus screwdriverto the cross recess of the Coupling and rotateit clockwise several times until the notch levelof the Coupling (B) and the level of Drumbearing (C) become to be same (Fig. 34).

    (30) Fix the Coupling with a screw.(31) Reinstall the Drum cover.(32) Return the bracket of Toner supply unit to the

    original position and secure it with 3 screws.(33) Close the Toner supply unit, lock the ADU lever,

    then close the Front door.9. Execute the automatic adjustments for the Drum

    unit.(1) Plug the power cord.(2) Enter into the Blade setting modeand execute

    the automatic blade setting process as follows:qEnter into the 36 modeby turning the Main

    switch ON, pressing the ten key [3] and [6]simultaneously.

    wSelect z Process adjustment from themenu screen and press this screen button.The screen menu changes to the next one.

    eSelect xDrum peculiarity adjustmentfromthe menu and press this screen button. Thescreen menu changes to the next one.

    rSelect zBlade setting modefrom the menu

    screen and press this screen button. TheStartscreen button appears.

    tExecute the automatic blade setting mode bypressing the Startscreen button.

    Note:This process takes about 5 seconds and stopswith the completion message on the screen.

    (3) Enter into the Drum peculiarity adjustmentmode and execute the automatic adjustmentprocess of the drum electric potential.qPress the Next screen button once. The

    screen changes to the Auto drum potentialadjustmentmenu.

    wPress the Startscreen button to execute theautomatic adjustment process of drumelectric potential.

    Note:This process takes about 10 seconds and stopswith the completion message on the screen.

    (4) Execute the automatic adjustment process ofmaximum density.qPress the Next screen button once. The

    screen changes to the Auto maximum den-sity adjustmentmenu.

    wPress the Startscreen button to execute the

    automatic adjustment process of maximumdensity.Note:This process takes about 10 seconds and stopswith the completion message on the screen.

    (5) Execute the automatic gamma adjustmentprocess.qPress the Nextscreen button four times. The

    screen changes to the Auto gamma adjust-mentmenu.

    wPress the Startscreen button to execute theautomatic gamma adjustment process.

    Note:

    This process takes about 10 seconds and stopswith the completion message on the screen.

    (6) Turn the Main switch OFF.

    10. Set the Toner bottle.(1) Open the Front door and open the Toner supply

    unit for 90 degree.(2) Pull the lever (Fig. 35).

    (3) Stand the Toner bottle vertically and shake itslightly up and down. Then remove its capputting the bottle laterally and set it whilemeeting the position of the clear tape and thearrow marked on the Toner supply unit (Fig. 36).

    (4) Return the lever to the original position.(5) Close the Toner supply unit and the Front door.

    Note:Refer to the Toner supply procedureon the helpmenu of the Operation panel, as for the Toner bottlesetting procedure.

    11. Install the accessories on the Main body.(1) Mount the Ventilation duct with 2 screws and

    glue the Operation manual holder with thedouble coated adhesive tape and secure it with2 bind screws (M3 x 6) on the back of the Mainbody respectively (Fig. 37).

    Note:The Operation manual holder is able to mountalternatively on the optional LT-401.

    (2) Put the Cleaning instruction label on the top ofRADF (Fig. 38).

    12. Install the Working table.(1) Open the Right upper cover and remove 2

    screws securing the Upper cover (Fig. 39).

    (2) Secure the Working table with the Upper coverto the Main body with 2 truss head screws (M4x 14). Then cover the screw holes with 2 caps(Fig. 40).

    13. Extend the Adjuster feet and adjust each lengthwith the spanner to make the Main body level withthe floor (Fig. 41).

    14. Put the Operation sheet on the Operation panel.

    VI. Operation Check1. Set the paper in the Trays and take sample copies.2. Inspect the copy quality with the test chart fed from

    the RADF.Check items:

    Centering, Skew, Leading edge timing etc.Adjustment:

    Refer to the Service Handbook.

    VII. Setting the KRDSRefer to the Service Handbook.

    VIII. Tandem mode setting

    [Caution] The Master (primary) and Sub (secondary)

    machines should be mounted with the main bodyROMs of the same version number.

    The Master and Sub machines should have thesame optional machine configuration excludingthe LCT.The optional machines should be mounted withthe ROMs of the same version number.

    The Master and Sub machines should have thesame settings of the memory switch in the Keyoperator mode, and the Software DIP switch inthe 25 mode.

    1. Turn OFF the power switch of both machines.2. Remove the right cover sticker on the upper right

    of the rear side of each machine, then connectthe two machines with the crosscable of Twist paircable category 5 (100BASE-TX).

    3. Turn ON the power switch of either Master or Submachine, while pressing numeric keypads [2] and[5] simultaneously.

    4. Touch to select 1. Software SW settingon the 25Mode Menu Screen.

    5. Touch the screen keypad [2] twice to specify 22,then touch ON (1).

    6. Turn OFF the power switch.

    7. Turn ON the power switch again while pressingHELP button on the control panel.

    8. Touch to select 1. System Initial settingon theKey Operator Mode Screen.

    9. Touch to select 3. IP address setting on theSystem Initial Setting Menu Screen.

    [Caution]

    If OFF (0)has been selected by mistake in step 5,the 3. IP address settingkey cannot be selectedin step 9.

    10. Touch Line speed settingon the screen.

    [Caution]

    The IP addressand Subnet maskcan be keptas they have been initially specified.

    11. Touch to select 100M Full Duplexon the LineSpeed Setting Screen, then touch OK.

    12. Turn OFF the power switch.

    [Caution]

    Perform the above procedure from step 3 to 12again for the other machine.

    ** Perform the following procedure for both

    Master and Sub machines, alternately.

    13. Turn ON the power switch, while pressing numerickeypads [3] and [6] simultaneously.

    14. Touch to select 8. Tandem mode initial settingon the 36 Mode Menu Screen.

    15. Check that the STARTkey is displayed on thescreen.

    16. Touch the STARTkey.17. Check that the OKindication is displayed on the

    screen.
