The

Adventures

of Bill the

Orange

By Justin Heidebrink

Page 1

There was an orange named Bill that

was relaxing on a tree with his orange

friends on a nice summer day in

Georgia. Suddenly, he was pulled out

of the tree by the humans along with a

bunch of other oranges and put on a

plane. Bill was dropped off in a place

called California. Bill had heard of the

beaches in California, but he never

knew what they looked like. He had no

idea of what he would do next.

Page 2

Later, Bill was put in a market to be

sold. Then he heard a voice, “Hi”. Bill

turned over to his right, and there was

another orange standing next to

him. “Hi”, Bill said. “I‟m Tom” he said,

“I‟m Bill, nice to meet you” Bill

said. “What are we going to do here?”

said Tom. “I‟m not so sure, but I don‟t

like it. Lets get out of here” Bill

said. “We‟ll do it when nobody is

looking.” Tom replied.

Page 3

When it got darker, the people slowly

left. Tom woke Bill up and said “Is it

time?” Tom came to him and said

“Yup”. They both got out of the shelf

and slowly hopped over to the entrance

of the market stopped to rest. “This is

going to be a long time to get out of

here. Should we go to the trolley? I‟ve

seen it around here before.” Bill

said. Tom replied, “sure”.

Page 4

After a while, they both continued

hopping out around the city towards the

trolley. “There it is!” Tom said. They

hurried over to the trolley. “It‟s closed.

Bill said. “We‟ll have to wait till

morning. I‟ll keep lookout tonight.” “Do

you like surfing?” Tom asked. “No but I

would like to.” Bill replied. “We should

go to the beach sometime. Do you want

to?” Tom asked. “Sure.”

Page 5

While Bill was keeping lookout, Tom

was resting. As the sun rose up Bill said

“Tom, wake up, it‟s time to get on the

trolley.” “Alright” Tom said. There was

a platform under the trolley that they

both got under it so nobody could see

them.

Page 6

They had both been waiting under

the trolley a long time before it started

moving. Tom and Bill both didn‟t know

where they were going, they just hoped

that they were going towards the beach

to surf. He wished he was in his tree

with his friends again. Finally, the train

stopped and some people got off and

Tom said “Let‟s get off and start hopping

again.”

Page 7

They‟ve been hopping for such a

long time Bill felt like rolling down the hill

instead of hopping. There weren‟t many

people on the road, maybe because it

was Sunday. Bill had the courage to

say “Can we stop to rest?” “Sure.” Tom

said. They stopped to rest near to what

looks like a party. “Oh great, them

again” Tom said.

Page 8

There were some bad apples that said,

“You‟re not allowed past this place, this club

is only for apples.” the biggest apple

said. “We‟ll just go away then.” Tom

said. “We can‟t let you do that, you might

tell other fruits to come here. We must

discipline you so you won‟t tell anyone.” the

other apples said. Suddenly, they all heard

a loud sound, almost like a cry. Then they

were swooped up by an banana away from

the bad apples. When they landed at a far

distance, the banana introduced

himself. “Hi, my name is David. What‟s

yours?” “I‟m Bill and this is Tom.” “We

should find some shelter. It‟s getting dark.”

David said.

Page 9

Bill and Tom both asked if David wanted

to surf. David didn‟t know what surfing

was. It was a nice Monday morning when

they all woke up. “We should start moving

if we want to get to the beach in time before

the rain comes.” David said. “How do you

know that?” Bill asked. “I looked on

somebodies phone.” David replied. Tom

and Bill were surprised that he could do

that. “Let‟s get moving” David said.

Page 10

Bill, David, and Tom were hopping for

what seemed like forever until David said,

“There‟s the beach!!!” They found a few

small surfboards and headed for the

water. “This is awesome!!!” Bill said. “I see

the storm, it‟s coming pretty fast. Lets go

inside this restaurant”, David said.

Page 11

It was pouring rain outside while David,

Bill, and Tom were safe inside. All three of

them were staying inside for about three

hours when it started to clear up. “I see it

clearing up”, Tom said. They all went

outside and started surfing again.

Page 12

Later that day, Bill, David, and Tom

talked about making a living here. “HEY!

We could start a surf board stand or a diner

just for fruit”, Bill said. “That sounds

great!!!” replied Tom. Its been a few days

later and Bill, Tom‟s, and David‟s surf shop

and diner had been incredibly

successful. Everybody called it „BDT‟s surf

shop and diner. “I love this place”, Bill

said. “We‟ll build on this friendship guys”,

Tom said. “Now who wants a smoothie?”

David asked.
