His born :Obama was born on August 4, 1961,in Honolulu, Hawaii, and is the first President to have been born in Hawaii. His mother, Ann Dunham, was born in Wichita, Kansas, and was of mostly English ancestry. His father, Barack Obama, Sr., was a Luo from Kenya. Obama's parents met in 1960 in a Russian class, where his father was a foreign student on scholarship. He died in an automobile accident in 1982.

Barack Hussein Obama

Obama lived with his maternal grandparents, Madelyn and Stanley Dunham. Of his early childhood, Obama recalled, "That my father looked nothing like the people around me—that he was black as pitch, my mother white as milk—barely registered in my mind." He described his struggles as a young adult to reconcile social perceptions of his multiracial heritage. Reflecting later on his years in Honolulu, Obama wrote: "The opportunity that Hawaii offered—to experience a variety of cultures in a climate of mutual respect—became an integral part of my world view, and a basis for the values that I hold most dear." Obama moved to Los Angeles in 1979 to attend Occidental College. In1981, he made his first public speech, calling for Occidental to divest from South Africa in response to its policy of apartheid. Later in 1981, he transferred to Columbia University in New York City, where he majored in political science with a specialty in international relations .

He sponsored a law that increased tax credits for low-income workers, negotiated welfare reform, and promoted increased subsidies for childcare.

In 2003, Obama became chairman of the Illinois Senate's Health and Human Services Committee when Democrats, after a decade in the minority, regained a majority. He sponsored and led unanimous, bipartisan passage of legislation to monitor racial profiling by requiring police to record the race of drivers they detained, and legislation ; police representatives credited Obama for his active engagement with police organizations in enacting death penalty reforms.

Presidency :The inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th President took place on January 20, 2009. In his first few days in office, Obama issued executive orders and presidential memoranda directing the U.S. military to develop plans to withdraw troops from Iraq.He ordered the closing of the Guantanamo Bay detention camp, but Congress prevented the closure by refusing to appropriate the required funds. Obama reduced the secrecy given to presidential records. He also revoked President George W. Bush's restoration of President .

Initial reactions about his nobel peace prize award :

Obama said he was "surprised" and "deeply humbled" by the award. He stated that he does not feel he deserved it, and that he did not feel worthy of the company the award would place him in. In remarks given at the White House Rose Garden on the day of the announcement, Obama stated, "I do not view it as a recognition of my own accomplishments but rather an affirmation of American leadership on behalf of aspirations held by people in all nations."

“To say that force is sometimes necessary is not a call to cynicism -- it is a recognition of history; the imperfections of man and the limits of reason.”—Barack Obama

Mohammed Yasser Abdel Rahman Abdel Raouf Arafat al-Qudwa al-Husseini ;;he was born in 24 August 1929 , popularly known as Yasser Arafat or by his kunya Abu Ammar. He was Chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Arafat spent much of his life fighting against Israel in the name of Palestinian self-determination. Originally opposed to Israel's existence, he modified his position in 1988 when he accepted UN Security Council Resolution 242. Arafat and his movement operated from several Arab countries. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Fatah faced off with Jordan in a brief civil war. Forced out of Jordan and into Lebanon, Arafat and Fatah were major targets of Israel's 1978 and 1982 invasions of that country.

Page 23: Just peace Index: comparison between peace and war:

Later in his career, Arafat engaged in a series of negotiations with the government of Israel to end the decades-long conflict between it and the PLO. These included the Madrid Conference of 1991, the 1993 Oslo Accords and the 2000 Camp David Summit. His political rivals, including Islamists and several PLO leftists, often denounced him for being corrupt or too submissive in his concessions to the Israeli government. In 1994 Arafat received the Nobel Peace Prize, together with Yitzhak Rabin and Shimon Peres, for the negotiations at Oslo. During this time, Hamas and other militant organizations rose to power and shook the foundations of the authority that Fatah under Arafat had established in the Palestinian territories.

In late 2004, after effectively being confined within his Ramallah compound for over two years by the Israeli army, Arafat became ill, fell into a coma and died on 11 November 2004 at the age of 75. The cause of his illness is disputed.

In Algeria :Our contemporary history knows two Algerian personalities who focused their efforts to make peace and to settle internal and external disputes.

Was born on the 2nd of March 1937, in Oujda to a family from Tlemcen. Abdelaziz Bouteflika joined the National Liberation Army (ALN) in 1956. After the independence in 1962, he became Minister for Youth and Sport than Minister for Foreign Affairs until 1978. In April 1999, Bouteflika ran for the presidential elections and was elected officially with 74% of the votes. His election seems a turning point in the civil war that started in January 1992.
