The partnership between Spartanburg County Adult Education and ACHIEVE has proven to be the kind of partnership that the WIOA intended. Each program complements the other, relying on strengths from both programs while sharing resources. Adult Education provides a GED instructor that acts as a liaison, working with fast-track students and students that have one remaining GED test. Ms. Kristy Benson-Scofield works with each student to concentrate in the subject that each needs to complete the GED and works with students that are mostly GED-ready upon enrollment to review the courses and proceed to take the GED exam in a short time. When they are ready, she finds a test date at the Ad Ed site for them to take each GED test. Kristy relates to the students well and serves as a math tutor as well. Ms. Benson-Scofield is pictured below.
