HOW TO SEND IN YOUR MONEYYou can send your money in the following ways:

DONATE ONLINE www.salvationarmy.org.uk/id

DONATE BY PHONE 020 7367 4777

DONATE BY POSTSend a cheque made payable to ‘The Salvation Army’ with a cover note telling us what your donation is for, and send it to:The Salvation Army International Development (UK & Ireland)101 Newington CausewayLondon SE1 6BNUnited Kingdom

Supporting one of these five programmes directly is the best way to give as it gives us the freedom to use your money wherever it is needed.

From time to time we are able to provide details of specific projects which need funding. Contact us at [email protected] or call 020 7367 4777 if you would like to discuss this or would like to give regularly to our work.

Help us shift the balance of inequality in places like Tanzania, where we support people in poverty through small business loans. These help marginalised women in rural communities to establish small businesses so they can work their own way out of poverty and better support their families.

Help us tackle hunger in communities like Mukodzongi in Zimbabwe by teaching small farmers simple farming techniques which will give them the knowledge that they need to increase their yields, end their hunger and improve their income.

GIVE MOREWe’re all very familiar with the notion that it’s better to give than to receive, but do we believe it? We may love to give, but secretly most of us love to receive too. As a result our homes and lives get cluttered with even more stuff, and our possessions become increasingly disposable in the continued search for the next ‘must have’ gadget or fashion trend.

Would you like to give more?

Give a JUST Gift and you can. You could help a trafficked child to be a child again, or provide

someone with clean water for life. You could give a widow the chance to set up her own business and

support her family, or help a small farmer grow enough food to stop them going hungry. What else can you give or

receive that even comes close to a gift like this?

JUST Gifts help to support people in developing communities all

around the world to improve their own lives. Every JUST Gift comes with a gift card and voucher to pass on to your loved one, and the money will be used by The Salvation Army International Development on a related project that will help to lift someone out of poverty or tackle injustice.

So why not buy something truly special and give a JUST Gift?

A bit about usWe want to see a life with dignity and equality for all people and a world without poverty and injustice.

We work with developing communities to resource, empower and support them to defeat poverty, tackle injustice and enable them to build a better life and future.

We have five main focus areas – WATERSHED, GENERATION, FARM, ANTI-HUMAN TRAFFICKING and EMBRACE. Through these programmes, we are able to use our expertise to respond to the needs of communities in the best way we can and ensure that funds raised are used in the most effective way possible.

You can find out more about our work by visiting www.salvationarmy.org.uk/id or calling the office on 020 7367 4777 and requesting a copy of our DEVELOP newsletter.

Where the money goes

One of the key aspects of our work is that we empower individuals and communities to combat poverty themselves and enhance their own opportunities to bring about change. That means that we believe that projects should be identified and owned by the local communities who will benefit from it.

As such, we always use the money either for your specific chosen gift or for

something else in the same area of work. The flexibility that this provides is invaluable

in ensuring that the communities that we work with retain ownership of the project and

get exactly what they need.

JUST give

We know you love to give our gifts to your

loved ones, but we also know that sometimes this isn’t enough. Help us give even more to our friends and neighbours around

the world by fundraising for one of our projects. Here are a

few examples of work that your donations could

support:

Help us tackle trafficking in places like the northeast of India by empowering those in local communities to be agents of change whilst providing support to the most vulnerable. Your support can help us continue to tackle the injustice of trafficking and move closer to a world where everyone can live a life of freedom and dignity.

Help us support children to a better future, like those at the El redil Children’s Home in Paraguay. Here children are given a safe, clean and comfortable place to stay while the team work hard to support the children’s parents or carers to improve their lives so that the children can return home.

Help us give water to rural communities like Tawa in eastern kenya. Here we are working with the community to introduce a sand-dam to their river. This will store water during the dry season so the community will have more reliable access to clean water throughout the year and enable them to grow more crops.
