Rules & Conditions:

Adjudicator: The adjudicator’s decision is final at no time should anyone approach or disrupt the adjudicator in any way, including lunch and dinner breaks.

Age: Age as at date of first day of dance extravaganza.

Age Groups : Babies Section (5/u), 6/u, 8/u, 10/u, 12/u, 14/u and Open Age. Championships – Junior Championship - 12/u

Senior Championship - 13/o

Amateur: This dance extravaganza is open to amateurs only.

Ballet: Pointe shoes must not be worn by any competitor aged 11/u.

Committee: The Committee reserves the right to amend, refuse or cancel sections where insufficient entries are received. Sections will either be combined with open or older age groups at the discretion of the committee where insufficient entries are received.

Competitors: Must be ready to compete in the section and order in which their name appears in the programme. No competitor will be allowed to dance more than once in any solo section. Competitors can repeat their dance after “forgetting” it at the discretion of the adjudicator. Competitors will not be transferred from one section to another if incorrectly entered on entry form unless an error is the fault of the committee. No competitor is allowed to dance in both restricted and open sections in the same category. No competitor may take another competitors place in the programme. Prompting (except babies) is not permitted at all and may result in disqualification. Competitors must enter and compete in their own age group only.

Dress: No changing in the auditorium at anytime. Competitors are to change in the dressing rooms only. No competitor is permitted to wear tap shoes in the auditorium.

Improvisations: Plain leotard or unitard only, no sequins or hologram materials, school logos etc.

Time limits: (including tags)Solos 3 minutesSong & Dance Solos 4 minutesDuo/Trio 4 minutesTroupes 5 minutesAnyone not adhering to these time limits will be disqualified

Music: No tapes accepted. CD’s must be correctly cued stating competitors name and amcos number. Only one song per CD is permitted.

Protests: This is a “no protest” Dance Extravaganza, the adjudicator’s decision is final.

Props: Props may be placed on stage by a backstage helper or parent and need to be removed at the conclusion of the session. No glass or flammable material permitted.

Modern: Expressive – Lyrical, expressive movements with classical base.Contemporary – Based on contemporary techniques, theme or structure.

Sections: Open is for competitors who have placed first in a restricted section. Restricted is for competitors that have never won a first place in restricted in that particular section at any dance challenge or eisteddfod. Restricted sections cannot qualify competitors for championships.

Championships: Tap Championship – 2 dances required, fast tap and slow tap. To qualify you must enter and compete in these two sections (1 dance may be repeated).Jazz Championship – 2 dances required, jazz and modern or contemporary. To qualify you must compete in these sections (1 dance may be repeated).Classical Championship – 2 dances required, classical and demi character. To qualify you must enter and compete in these sections (1 dance may be repeated).

Troupes: Minimum amount of students in a troupe is 4. Age is at the oldest competitor.

Safety: No responsibility is taken for any injuries or lost property of anyone present at the dance extravaganza and entry to the dance extravaganza is acknowledgement of acceptance of all rules and conditions. Smoking is NOT permitted in the grounds or on the school premises anywhere.

Video: No personal videoing or photography is allowed in the hall at anytime, including the use of mobile phones. Unauthorised photography or video will see the competitor disqualified. Mobile phones must be switched of in the auditorium at all times. A professional videographer will be available.
