Jury of memory Here I see every mistake that I've made I stand to face the jury of memory Though I'm the judge I know I couldn't go free Every scene comes back to me as it replays in my mind Why did I do that Why did I not realise the truth staring me in the eyes? Why did I do that Can't stop myself falling it's like walking on the air Stand before my memory's jury Whatever I say I'm guilty Stand before a jury of three The past, the present and the future hold me to blame Judgment day neverending Inner critic unforgiving My virtues vapourise before the flame Whatever I try it's an endeavour in vain Why did I do that? Why do I not realise follow my instinct when I know it can't be right Why did I do that? Why? Thou art weighed in the balance And found wanting, wanting Thou hast strayed too far Surrender to the light And why shall I defend myself There is nothing to defend No one but this sinner before your eyes I won't even try to justify the sorrow that I've caused Here I see the mistakes I have made Maybe I survived the battle but the scars won't fade Stand before my memory's jury Whatever I say I'm guilty Stand before a jury of three The past the present and the future hold me to blame I'll take your charges as justified How thoughtless I could be
