Wednesday Cadets – Wednesday 14th November

We were lucky that the weather cleared up and we didn’t have to cancel Cadets again this

week. We had 23 Cadets/Juniors in attendance for a great afternoon.

Our newest Cadets went to the range with Mal to continue to work on the basics of grip and

stance. Dylan, Luka, Jai, Robert and Lucas are improving every week.

Haisu, Kasper and Sophie E went out with Cadet Master Kathy. Kasper played some great

shots and would improve by slowing down a little. All players found the flies an awful

distraction.

Cadet Master Mel sent in this report. “I had the pleasure of working with Neve, Bronte and Sophie B who all played really well. We started with a putting competition on the practice putting green followed by a game of Ambrose for four holes (1st, 2nd, 3rd and 7th). Bronte won the putting competition and Sophie won the most points in the Ambrose competition. For each girls’ ball that was chosen to play from then that girl received a point. Bronte one putted on the 1st green and Sophie on the 3rd green which was great! Sophie was awarded the prize today because she won the Ambrose competition, plus she has improved so much since the last time I walked around with her. Neve, Bronte and Sophie all encourage each other and cheer each other on which is lovely to see.” Helen took Jacob, Lachlan and Max and played 6 holes. Helen was really impressed with the

attitude of these boys, especially the way they encouraged each other and kept smiling even

when the golf wasn’t so good. Max was the most consistent and putted well.

Phill took Bill and Cooper out to play 4 holes. They played the 1st, 2nd, 6th and 7th holes. Cooper

showed excellent listening skills and tried hard while Bill played very well.

Xavier, Keith and Thor played three holes with Cadet Master Keith, then a competition in the nets, where shots were scored out of ten. Ten for a perfect `sweet' hit. Scores for all three boys soared back and forth, with Thor winning the final one-shot shoot-out. The boys had a slow start on holes, with three balls in the water on hole 7, with Keith remaining the only `dry' golfer!! Golf picked up from there with 'scoring for good shots', helping better concentration. The focus today was ‘Alignment’ with a mantra `Pick a target and draw a line `in your mind' to the ball'. Well done Xavier, Keith and Thor. We had a fun day.

Brianna and Lily worked with Cadet Master Beth. After some putting and chipping practice,

they played the 7th, 8th and 9th holes. The shot of the day was a great bunker shot by Lily.

I took James and Nicholas for the afternoon. We played a couple of challenge holes to the 9th green before playing the 1st and 9th holes including a lot of chipping and putting challenges around the 1st green. James finished with an excellent 7 on the difficult 9th hole and both boys were enthusiastic and trying hard to improve all afternoon.
