Introduction

We are very excited to begin our 2019 Juniors Fall Season at CFSA! Our goal is to offer a safe and fun community that focuses on an active lifestyle out on the water. We want to foster a community the young sailors can be a part of their entire lives. Our sailing program is based off of the national curriculum, CANSail, and works within that program to facilitate effective learning throughout the season.

We have two sailing seasons during the year. Our fall season runs from September to

mid-November and our spring season runs April to June. During the summer we have courses and volunteer opportunities available.

Our primary aim is to have a team that loves going sailing, being on the water, and being at CFSA. The coaches are so thrilled with the success of last year and cannot wait to begin another season!

The Fleets

Our program is available to anyone over 7 years old who has completed a Learn to Sail course. We have split the Juniors group based off of the boat they are sailing. For anyone 7 - 15 we recommend the Opti and from 12-18 we recommend the 420. The overlap in age allows for adjustments based on size, skill, and want. During practice times we will focus one coach on the Opti sailors and another on the 420 sailors.

We have two options for registration, the Green Fleet and the Champ Fleet. The

difference in registration is only in practice times. Anyone registered for Green Fleet will practice once a week on Sundays from 11-2 and anyone in Champ Fleet will practice twice a week, Sundays from 11-2 and Wednesday evenings from 4:30-6:30.

If someone is keen on sailing and wants to be here twice a week their skill level does not matter. The weekday practices will be more racing focused but everyone is welcome to register for Champ Fleet and come out.

Typically, a regatta in the Victoria area will cost around $50 and in the Vancouver area it will be $125. This is not including the registration fee or personal costs for the regatta, this is just the cost of the coach and other club expenses.
