relationships between our service and community
members. Building relationships based on our
values of love, trust, respect, compassion and fun
enables both educators and family members to
have great understandings towards each other’s
expectations, attitudes, and build on the strengths
of each other’s knowledge to support the learning
outcomes for children.

Policy spotlight- INFECTIOUS DISEASES POLICY
We welcome you to have a read over our full ‘INFECTIOUS DISEASES policy’ at any time. Please see your Centre
Manager for assistance.
A gentle reminder in relation to our Infectious Disease Policy and
exclusion times to ensure the safety of all children, families and
educators:
Vomiting: 48 hours after last bout.
Diarrhoea: 48 hours after last bout.
Temperature of 38 or above: 24hrs after temperature has reduced
below 38.
Any other infectious disease will be as per requirements based on
‘Staying Healthy in Child Care’.
Fevers
Unwell children include those with fevers.
Fevers refer to temperatures of and above 38°C, and are usually a sign of
infection (e.g. virus). When children develop a fever at the service, educators
will:
*contact family and ask them to collect the child unless we have written
advice from a medical practitioner that the fever is not caused by an infectious
disease (e.g. teething). *Babies less than 3 months old with fevers must always
be collected by parents /authorised nominees who will be advised to take the
child to a doctor*
*Administer first aid if required in line with service procedures.
This may include calling an ambulance.
*If the child is distressed, bathe their face with cool water and administer
paracetamol if families have given permission -either in writing, or verbally and
this will be followed up in writing.
*Offer water to the child and ensure they are not overdressed, and their
clothing is comfortable
*Monitor the child’s behaviour, alertness and any other symptoms that could
indicate serious infection including rash, stiffness, vomiting, coughing or
convulsions
*Exclusion period is 24 hours from the last recorded temperature.

Educational Leader newsQuality Area 6-Collaborative Partnerships with Families and Communities
Over the past few months TG’s and families have been working collectively to
support each other throughout COVID-19.
We have continued to support you in keeping your children, families,
community and educators safe by implementing the following process:
-Providing hand sanitizing stations throughout the centre.
-Using child friendly language like “We all have our own bubble, we need to
spread out, so our bubbles don’t pop
-Placing spots (bubbles) on the mat during learning circle times to assist with
social distancing,
-Educators undertaking COVID-19 online training
-Management have continually researched, reviewed and updated policies and
procedures
-Implementing our shoes off inside the centre as well as one family member to
enter the centre to pick up and drop off practices.
Through these times we have called upon our close
relationships with families, supporting their needs
and providing comfort and calm, as well as
collecting feedback and suggestions.
As we continue to support our TG’s family through
these unprecedented times, our united front,
teamwork and compassion between families and
educators has been clear to see.
We will be closely monitoring the situation as
restrictions are eased and with ongoing advice and
information released by the Australian
Government- Department of Health, Department of
Education, Skills and Employment.
This will enable us as a service to assess the impact
of restriction changes, track progress, determine
the pace of moving forward and make any further
changes and/or decisions where and when required.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) update
As per the current measures outlined within the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) - Guidance for Early Childhood Education and Care Services released by NSW Health, TG’s Child Care requires all children, families and educators attending the service to follow the below practices:
✓ Anyone (staff, children, families) who is sick with influenza-like symptoms (fever, chills, muscle aches, cough, congestion, continuous runny nose, headaches and fatigue), even with mild symptoms, should not attend early childhood education and care facilities (without medical clearance from a registered GP)
✓ If a child or staff member becomes ill (with the above mentionedsymptoms) while they are at the service, they will be sent home as soon as possible and require a medical clearance to return back to TG’s once symptoms have subsided.
✓ Enhance hygiene practices for staff, children and visitors. Washing hands frequently is the single most effective way to reduce the spread of germs that cause respiratory disease. Alcohol-based hand gel is a suitable alternative and will be supplied throughout our service.
As we are fast approaching the ‘common flu/cold’ months, and with the Coronavirus symptoms very similar, we must work together as a team to continue our effective hygiene measure and to reduce the risk of infection.
Our amazing team of educators at TG’s Child Care continue to implement and maintain thorough and effective infection control measures to ensure the safety and wellbeing for all children, families, educators and the community.Should you require further information regarding out current centre practices around hygiene and infection control, policies and procedures, please see your Centre Manager for support.
We thank you for your ongoing understanding, support and teamwork
during this unprecedented time and look forward to welcoming you all
back to our beautiful centres to resume ‘Playing is Learning for Life’.
Workplace Health and Safety Officer
My current goal as WHS Officer is to continue to educate
children, families and educators on their personal health and
hygiene amid the COVID-19 pandemic. All educators have
completed the online COVID-19 training and families, educators
and visitors have all signed the COVID-19 Health Declaration
forms. I believe my role as WHS Officer is a vital component in
ensuring a safe, happy and heathy environment for all.

with educators around any concerns they have and provide
opportunities for them to further their knowledge and

Joeys news
Due to the wonderful weather we have been experiencing, the Joeys have been making the most of the sunshine and spending as much time as possible exploring our outdoor environment which has
also included lots of picnics. The Joeys have shown a strong interest in building their gross motor skills - bouncing on the jouncing board, using their balancing skills on the balance beam, climbing up and over the A-
frames, walking along the stepping stones and going up and down the slippery slide.
Try this at home-Home-made playdoughMix together-2 cups plain flour2 tbs oil1 cup salt4 tbs cream of tartarThen add 2 cups of hot water with food colouring added and mix togetheruntil all ingredients are combined. Knead with hands then PLAY!
The TG’s way is embedded in the Joeys curriculum., with building relationships happening on a daily
basis. Our educators strive to create strong relationships with all our children, so they feel safe, secure, and supported every day. With our
current COVID 19 restrictions, we have been collectively thinking about ways we can encourage
the children to be involved with creating a safe environment for everyone. Handwashing songs have been a huge interest as it helps guide the children to wash their hands thoroughly and
makes the experience positive and a lot of fun.
Boaties news
This month we have been working on name recognition and shapes. At group times we incorporate small games to enhance this learning. Don’t forget, each morning as you are
putting your school bag into your locker, have a go at selecting your name badge! Look for the colours and shapes of the letters in your name! We have also been exploring the
different cultures that are represented in the room and the traditions that this encompasses. One of our Boaties families partake in the tradition called Ramadan.
We have been talking about
the many ways we celebrate
culture and different ways
that people live. We have
recently explored
Reconciliation week and we
shared our values of love,
trust, respect, compassion
and fun as we continue to
explore and embed the
Indigenous culture into our
curriculum.

Preschool newsRecently in the Preschool Room we have been exploring science!
During our learning journey we have been hypothesising as a group by sharing our thoughts and ideas on what might happen before we begin our experiments. All of our experiments have been based around colours and extending our knowledge on primary
and secondary colours. Throughout each experiment we used trial and error with different components and elements and watching an array of reactions happen. This
experience provides many investigative opportunities which encourages the development of children’s curiosity within the area of science.
“Children are little researchers” –Link to Piagets theory.
Try this at home- ‘See the rainbow’ science
experimentWhat you will need:
SkittlesWaterPlate
Place the skittles in a circle on the plate. With the water you pour this in the middle of the skittle circle carefully. After you do this you will start to see the colour and sugar dissolve into the water and then
diffuse through the water, making it the colour of the skittle.
To extend from this you can use trial and error by experimenting with the temperature of the water.
Which will make the skittles dissolve faster? Warm or cold water? You could also try white vinegar or
lemonade.
