• Pakistan was created for Muslims and Kashmir is mostly Muslim
• Pakistan believes it should have control over Kashmir
• Pakistani Terrorist groups and Al Qaeda terrorize the region of Kashmir
• Parts of Kashmir are controlled by China too

• China fell into decline in the 19th and 20th centuries
• Many of its main ports were taken over by the British, Portuguese and Germans
• The Japanese invasion in World War II and a corrupt, inefficient government resulted in the Chinese Revolution in 1949
• This removed the Republic of China and replaced it with the People’s Republic of China
– Which is not a republic
• China is the world’s largest communist country…
• And the most populous
–1,343,239,923 people live in China today

• Parents must pick up aa birth certificate for their child before it is born
• Families with one child receive benefits

• Having twins is exempt from the one child policy
• Some minorities are sometimes allowed to have two

• Japan’s goal was to become the dominant power in East Asia
– Push out Europeans and Americans
