Has it only been over two months since we last met? Or should I say, has it really been over TWO months since we met last? Whichever way you look at it, this time has been productive, surprised, energized, satisfied (Please circle the words that pertain to you). A lot of you have been very PRODUCTIVE; making masks, quilts, wall hangings, etc. Were you SURPRISED by finding that something you have been searching for forever? Did you get ENERGIZED by finally de-cluttering and organizing that one area in your home? Are you SATISFIED by actually completing that now vintage project that has been sitting among your UFOs? Although there may be other words that can best describe your feelings during this time, I am trying to keep this G rated. I know that I feel very BLESSED to have a community like this one. We all have our plates full with our own issues, yet we are encouraging each other with phone calls, texts, e-mails, e-cards, snail mail notes and cards. Keep up the good work Ladies! Our meetings might be cancelled but out spirit will hold us together until we see each other face to face, or should I say mask to mask. Also, I want to remind you that most of our local quilts shops are open for curbside pick up. Keep them in mind when you run out of fabric (did I just write that?) Please check with your favorite shop for their policy of buying and picking up orders. One thing to keep in mind, since there may not be regular shop hours, there may not be a person to answer your phone call. Just leave your message; they will get back to you. Be kind and keep safe. To give you a smile

I hear some people are starting to feel stressed in lock down. Actually, I was just talking about this with my sewing machine, and she seamed to agree. But when I asked the elastic, it just snapped back! I think it was stretched to its limit! So I tried to talk to the cotton, but it shrank away. The linen was in a bunch. The scissors was snippy. Even the stuffing was down. When I came around to ask the buttons, they just gaped. The snaps suggested I get a grip. Thankfully the iron gave it to me straight and reminded me this will all smooth out soon. **********************************************************************************

30 Year Pins Available: Barb Lange presented a design for a 30 year pin at the

July, 2010 meeting. The design includes the “Hands All Around” block and commemorates our 30th anniversary in 2009/2010. Pins are available for $5.00 from Special Projects.

Sunshine Committee and Comfort Quilts Hello Everyone,

If you know of any of our friends in Guild that are sick, having surgery, had a death in the family or just feeling down and need a few words of encouragement, please contact me, Becky Harvey. I will send them a special card from all of us at Sinnissippi Quilt Guild. My phone number is 815-742-7013 and my email is [email protected]

Comfort quilts and the Sunshine Committee sort of go together. In order for us to send a card to any of our fellow quilters, we need to know about it. Anyone who maybe sick, having surgery, had a death in the family, or just needs a lift, we would like to remember you. Contact Becky Harvey 815-742-7013.

The purpose of a comfort quilt is to show the care and concern of our fellow quilting sisters going through a traumatic time in their life. The quidelines to receive a comfort quilt is as follows: personal health issues (cancer, transplant, major surgery), death of immediate family(parent, spouse, child), and life threatening situation(accident with injuries). A member may receive only one comfort quilt from the guild, even if they have different issues as stated above.

Please contact Vicki Tallacksen 815-262-2293 if someone needs a comfort quilt.

Sinnissippi Quilt Guild Helps Again When our world changed on March 16th, many quilters in our group and makers around the Rockford city area did what they do so well. They asked, "What can we do? How can we help our community?" Many in the quilt guild got together and started organizing to help organizations in need. Our guild was approached by Milestone and asked if we could sew masks for them. They use face masks every day for all residents and employees of Milestone. And they were unable to purchase them from anywhere at the time. Several of us have been working to fulfill this need over the last two months and have been able to supply Milestone and other facilities with over 1,000 masks! This project continues on at this time. Hats Off to those who participated! Job well done! Reminders about the NICU Quilts: NICU quilt size is 40x50, or whatever size your pattern finishes. We will have batting available for NICU quilts. Just give Pam a call (815-519-8336) with measurements and she will have it ready for pick up. We currently have turned in all finished quilts for the babies. Look forward to seeing all your creative quilts once we are meeting again! Thank you & Happy Quilting, Carol Folkerts and Pam Surmo
