Our Winter Wonderland Discos was a huge success. As you can see by our photos, there were many families at the event and even the cold weather did not keep people at home.
We had hoped to match our numbers from last year’s community event but we have in fact increased the numbers! Although we were not aiming to make money on the evening we did in fact raise $950, which was a great benefit, that was not anticipated.
Many parents gave enormous support on the night. So could I express our thanks to everyone, however in particular to the following people and families a special thankyou:
Kelly Anderson drove the event with the ideas ,organisation, decorations and called on family members to assist her. The Kopke - Veldhuis family (and Café Lekker) provided wonderful support to Kelly both in the planning and on the evening, along with Gaye Carrigan who provided enormous support. Thank you to Alan Weightman, who kindly organised most of the hot food from P.F.D. that we were able to sell on the evening. To the worker bees in the kiosk who bagged the hot food and sold it to hungry discos dancers, your hard work was very much appreciated. We cannot forget those who stayed on and assisted with the clean-up, always the hard job at the end of the night when we all want to get home! Finally, to those parents who bought the children along on the evening for without your support the event would have been less exciting.
We already have ideas for next year, so look out, the Family Fun Night 2018 will be happening and we hope to see everyone there!
Liam Muscat, Grade 5, recently represented Haddon at the Regional Cross Country event that was held in Warrnambool. Liam managed to achieve 4th place in his age group, which will take him on to the state finals in August. This is a tremendous achievement and I would like to congratulate Liam on his great success. We will all be waiting for the phone call to hear how he goes.

Haddon Community Plan 2017- 2020
Following the recent Haddon Community Planning Survey, a Community Forum was held on Sunday May 28th at the Recreation Centre – not Sunday 28
th June as
advertised in some places. At the Forum, community members considered the information collected in the survey and voted on projects that they thought were most important to work on over the next 3 years. An opportunity for those who were unable to attend the Forum to vote on projects, (given the confusion of date set for the Forum) is now available. To vote please call Nicole Langtip, Community Planning Facilitator, on 0432 558 119 or visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ZNPB3K7 . Voting will close on Sunday 11th of June.
