Christ’s

CornerRev. 13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich andpoor, free and bond, to receivea mark in their right hand, orin their foreheads:

There is still much debate

about the “mark of the

beast” as stated in our

Bible. I don’t claim to

know it all, or, have special

Devine revelation concern-

ing scripture. I do try to use

logic and common sense to

understand stuff. People

use their name or a mark to

claim ownership of things.

Bears claw trees to leave

their mark claiming their

territory. Different animals

urinate upon trees and

bushes to mark out their

home area.

It stands to reason that the

Beast would put a mark

upon what he claims as his

own.

People also leave a mark by

the way we live. That mark

identifies us long after we

are gone. That brings me to

the question of “What mark

am I (and you) leaving that

others may follow??”

God Bless,

Walter D. Hill D. Min.

Visiting

Cemeteries

I am a Genealogy buff. My

mom was and I have all of

her Books on the family

history. In the eighties one

of my friends, Pat and

myself were asked to do a

censes of all the cemeteries

in Clay Co. Alabama. This

was right up my alley

because this was where my

Ancestors were buried. We

went to Ashland and then to

Lineville writing down

every name on the graves

there.

Our last stop was

Brownville Church about

halfway between Ashland

and Goodwater. I loved this

because this was where my

ancestors went to church

and most of them were

buried in this cemetery.

Chris Hagebak - 809 Gallery of Art

Page 12: June 26 Paper Combined

Continued From Pg. 9

We started to write down all

the names and dates. Pat had

the notepad. It was my job to

read the names and dates. On

the older graves it is really hard

to read the names and dates.

We had chalk to help us read

better.

Well, I sort of got lost reading

all these names and dates and

forgot where to step. Some of

these graves are caving in from

settling after the many years of

no upkeep. I put my foot on a

rock to be able to see better.

When I did it slipped and down

I went into the grave. Pat said,

it looked like slow motion

when I went down. Guess I

was not ready to meet my

maker. One thing I was going

the wrong way. If anything I

wanted to go up. Up I did

come. Pat said she didn’t even

see me coming up out of the

grave. She saw me standing on

the side of the grave like it

never happened. I am not even

sure how I got out. We looked

and there were no places to put

my foot to get out of there. She

asked me how I did it and I

told her that I felt like a hand

was on my back and pushed me

back up. Weird, don’t you

think. I guess my ancestor did-

n’t want me joining him either.

It is a good thing that this was

out last stop because I was

through for the day. I wanted to

go home.

My co-workers at 911 knew me

really well. When I would take

a few days vacation some of

the new people would ask me

what I was going to do on my

days off. The ones that had

been there awhile would say

don’t ask her. She is going to

visit the cemetery. After this

incident I kinda’ stopped going

to visit them so often. Makes

you wonder why doesn’t it?

The Georgia Department of

Education will implement a

new testing system, the

Georgia Milestones

Assessment System

(Georgia Milestones) during

the 2014-2015 academic

year. The new system will

replace both the CRCT and

the EOCT.

Georgia Milestones will be

aligned to the Common

Core Georgia Performance

Standards (CCGPS) and

will require more from stu-

dents than the CRCT and

EOCT it replaces, in order

to better prepare students

for college and career and

to provide a more realistic

picture of academic

progress. A major benefit of

the new system is that it is

one consistent testing pro-

gram across grades 3-12,

whereas previously students

took a series of individual

tests.

The increased expectations

for student learning reflect-

ed in Georgia Milestones

may mean initially lower

scores than the previous

years’ CRCT or EOCT

scores. That is to be expect-

ed and should bring

Georgia’s tests in line with

other indicators of how our

students are performing,

State School Superintendent

Dr. John Barge said.

“We need to know that stu-

dents are being prepared,

not at a minimum-compe-

tency level but with rigor-

ous, relevant education,

Page 17: June 26 Paper Combined

One year, Johnny's fam-

ily was having an

"extended family" 4th

of July cookout at their

home. One of the spe-

cial treats that year was

lighting the fireworks

(Roman candles, bottle

rockets, missile batter-

ies, etc.) they had

bought out of state

(they're illegal in their

state, of course!).

Just before they were to

arrive, a cousin called,

saying his neighbors'

plans had just fallen

through and asking if he

could bring them along

to the picnic -- they

even had extra food to

bring. "Sure, the more

the merrier!"

When the cousin

arrived with his neigh-

bors, it was discovered

that the head of that

family was a police

officer. Johnny's father

turned as innocently as

he could to his son and

whispered to him to

grab the paper bag of

fireworks sitting in the

kitchen and hide them

somewhere quickly.

Johnny disappeared,

and the father changed

the topic to food for the

day. This family had

brought some chicken

to grill, so the father

told them the gas grill

was all set to use out

back -- they just had to

turn on the gas and

push the ignition button

with the lid still closed.

They headed out to the

back as Johnny returned

through the front door.

The father hurried to

him and said, "Whew,

that was close! That

man's a police officer,

and he almost saw the

fireworks. Did you hide

them real well?"

"Oh, yeah, nobody will

ever think to look in the

grill!"

Ok, here is where I am probably going to lose a few readers.

We are talking about red meat and the effects it has on our bodies.

First off, we are not carnivorous, our teeth are round and flat,

made for grinding and chewing. Carnivorous teeth are sharp and

pointed, made for ripping and tearing. Their hydrochloric acid is

1500% stronger than ours and their intestines average only 4’

long. Thats so the meat can get in and get out fast. Ours are close

to 40’ long and red meat takes 72 hours to get out. Now it's dur-

ing that 72 hrs. that the meat ferments and releases carcinogenic

(cancer causing) gases. Some of these gases are methane,

hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans (which yield the rotten egg odor

when carried out by the methane gas), cadaverine, putrescine,

ammonias, indoles, skatoles and leukomaines.

The average American that eats red meat dies with 10 lbs. of

undigested meat in their colons. I will give you only one guess as

to which cancer killer is just behind prostate cancer (for men) and

breast cancer (for women)?

You guessed it . . . . Colon cancer - and now you know why!

Watching Your Colon,

DRESS CODE: It is advised

that you come to work dressed

according to your salary, if we

see you wearing $350 Prada

sneakers & carrying a $600

Gucci bag we assume you are

doing well financial and there-

fore you do not need a raise.

SURGERY: Operations are

now banned. As long as you are

an employee here, you need all

your organs. You should not

consider removing anything.

We hired you intact. To have

something removed constitutes

a breach of employment.

PERSONAL DAYS: Each

employee will receive 104

personal days a year. They are

called Saturday & Sunday.

VACATION DAYS: All

employees will take there

vacation at the same time

every year. The vacation days

are as follows: January 1, July

4 and December 25.

BEREAVEMENT LEAVE:

This is no excuse for missing

work. There is nothing you

can do for dead friends, rela-

tives or co- workers. Every

effort should be made to have

non-employees attend to the

arrangements. In rare cases

where employee involvement

is necessary, the funeral

should be scheduled in the

late afternoon. We will be

glad to allow you to work

through your lunch hour and

subsequently leave one hour

early, provided your share of

the work is done enough.

OUT FROM YOUR OWN

DEATH: This will be accept-

ed as an excuse. However, we

require at least two weeks

notice as it is your duty to

train your own replacement.

RESTROOM USE: Entirely

too much time is being spent

in the restroom. In the future,

we will follow the practice of

going in alphabetical order.

For instance, all employees

whose names begin with 'A'

will go from 8:00 to 8:20,

employees whose names

begin with 'B' will go from

8:20 to 8:40 and so on If

you're unable to go at your

allotted time, it will be neces-

sary to wait until the next day

when your turn comes again.

In extreme emergencies

employees may swap their

time with a coworker. Both

employees' supervisors in

writing must approve this

exchange. In addition, there is

now a strict 3-minute time

limit in the stalls. At the end

of three minutes, an alarm

will sound, the toilet paper

roll will retract, and the stall

door will open.

LUNCH BREAK: Skinny

people get an hour for lunch

as they need to eat more so

that they can look healthy,

normal size people get 30

minutes for lunch to get a bal-

ance meal to maintain their

average figure. Fat people get

5 minutes for lunch because

that's all the time needed to

drink a Slim Fast and take a

diet pill.

IN CONCLUSION: Thank

you for your loyalty to our

company. We are here to pro-

vide a positive employment

experience. Therefore, all

questions comments, con-

cerns, complaints, frustra-

tions, irritations, aggravations,

insinuations, allegations,

Crazy Weather

We have been having some

crazy weather here in the

mountains of my home this

summer. The other day, for

instance, started out beauti-

fully with a sunrise that

could make the heavens'

sing. The air was warm

and the breezes gently

kissed your cheek as you

walked outside. The shin-

ing sun filtered through the

leaves and lit up the world

in a thousand different

places. Just being outside

lit up my own soul as well

and I thanked God for

another great day to be

alive.

By afternoon, however, the

weather had turned hot and

muggy. The skies had

become partly cloudy and

the distant roar of thunder

was in the air. As I went to

run an errand it started to

rain. Driving down the

road I could still see the

sun behind me but thick,

grey clouds lay ahead.

After only a few miles a

gentle sprinkling of rain

became a torrent that rolled

down the roads and turned

every pothole into a pud-

dle. I stopped to go into a

store but was drenched

before I got three feet.

Lightening flashes could

be seen over the hills and I

wondered if the storm

would ever end. As I drove

back home, though, the

clouds parted and the sun-

shine reappeared. I arrived

home soaked but safe and

looked up to see the most

glorious rainbow bridging

the sky. I stopped in my

dripping clothes to take in

the sight and store it safely

in the memories of my

soul.

Life too can give us some

crazy weather at times.

Clear days can suddenly

turn stormy in an instant.

Sunny skies and gentle

breezes can give way to

pounding rains and lighten-

ing for no reason.

Problems, troubles, and

frustrations can soak you

to the skin and you can

find yourself wondering if

the storm will ever end.

When this happens take

heart in knowing that God

loves you through every

type of weather and that

you have enough sunlight

in your soul to ride out any

storm that life throws at

you. Let that rain help you

to grow and remember that

the storms always end, the

clouds always part, and

sometimes you even get

blessed with a rainbow.
