Dear Children,

Have you ever gotten into an argument with your brother or sister? If you don’t have a brother or sister (or they are too young to talk), when was the last time you got really mad at someone?

Think about it.

I want to think really hard about why you got mad. Did they disagree with you? Did they do something they should not have done? Did they not do it the way you thought it should be done?

What about YOU: were you not being kind? Did you think you knew better how to do something? Did you think you were better than them?

I am asking you these questions because when Paul wrote to the church in Rome, there was some arguing going on. Not everyone in the church was getting along. And it was because some of them thought they knew better than the others how something should be done, and they took it out on others.

When you read the story today in Romans 14, it almost sounds silly. It would be like you believing that you should not eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Let’s imagine you think that it’s wrong to eat PB&J sandwiches. And then your brother, sister or friend eats a PB&J sandwich. And you get really mad because you think it’s wrong. But they don’t’ think it’s wrong, and they love it so much, they get mad at you for thinking it’s wrong.

Doesn’t that sound silly? Well, sometimes our arguments even with other Christians really are silly. And Paul really helps us understand how to get along with others in these kinds of situations that are really not that important.

I love you,

Mr. Mac

Here are some things from my sermon about which you can talk to your mom and dad:

1. When was your last argument? What was it about? With whom? Who was at fault? Were you sorry? Did you ask for forgiveness? Looking back, does that argument seem silly now?

2. Talk to your mom and dad about what it means to do ALL things for Jesus.

3. Read Philippians 2:9-11 with your mom and dad. Who is Jesus? Do you know He loves you?

4. Talk about this: Jesus is your Friend. Your Brother. Your Redeemer.

A Guide to Family WorshipJune 17 - June 24, 2018

THE SIMPLEST OUTLINE FOR FAMILY TIME EVER!

10 EASY STEPS

1. Just make sure you gather once a day as a family.

2. Try really hard to make the same time every day.

3. It does not have to be long; it does not have to be perfect.

4. Read a Bible verse. Maybe a devotional.

5. Sing a song or two together.

6. Take prayer requests.

7. Pray. (Daddy, your children NEED to hear you pray.) Pray for the children; pray for missionaries; pray for Trinity Church; give thanks.

8. Everyone tell one thing they are thankful for.

9. Have a Leader of the Day: they get to read and/or pray and/or tell everyone to come gather and/or put out the Bibles/hymnals and/or tell something that happened to them that day.

10. Dad, pray this over your children: Numbers 6:24–26

The LORD bless you and keep you;

the LORD make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.

This week’s lesson is on Romans 14:1-12

“And He said to them, ‘Go into all the world

and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.’”

Mark 16:15

Will you pray for the men who are translating the

Bible and for their wives and children?

The Bible is called The Word of Life because it tells us about Jesus so we will live eternally with Him. Can you imagine how it might be if we didn’t have a Bible? How would your parents or Sunday School teacher or Mr. Mac know what to teach about God? There are many places in the world with no Bible because it hasn’t been translated into their language. There are even places where the people don’t have a written language.Trinity Church committed money and our prayers to help three men translate the Bible for the “Rujak” people. More than 500,000 Rujak people live in South Asia. No one has ever told them about Jesus. These three men and their families moved to where the Rujak people live so they can learn that language, and translate the Bible into that language.

This past week, we talked with one of the men who is doing this work. His family with three children doesn’t get to enjoy some of the things we do, but they are willing to make that sacrifice so God’s Word will be available for the Rujak people.

#296 "All Hail the Power of Jesus' Name!"

Philippians 2:9 says that Jesus’ name is above every other name. There are places in the Bible where people were healed simply by having faith in Jesus. We pray in His name because there is power

in His name. We are baptized in His name. Demons have been cast out in His name. In the Christmas story, the book of Matthew

quotes the prophet Isaiah in saying “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son and they shall call His name Immanuel.”

Immanuel means “God with us.” Jesus, which is Yeshua in its original Hebrew form, means “He will save or the Lord saves.” Jesus

was a fairly common name when Jesus was born, but He was and is the only one who is “God with us” and it is only by His name that

we are saved!

#498 “Jesus, What a Friend for Sinners”

Jesus is the perfect friend! He never is always there to listen when you need someone to talk to, He loves you no matter what, He

doesn’t judge you or think less of you, and He is always willing to help! Verse 1 says “...friends may fail me, foes assail me, He, my Savior, makes me whole.” Sometimes earthly

friends can really hurt us. Unfortunately, friends come and go, but Jesus will never leave us and will never hurt us. Don’t rely on your friends to make you happy, rely on Jesus and make Him your best

friend! “Hallelujah! what a Savior! Hallelujah! what s friend!....He is with me to the end.”

“God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name.”
