Dear Friends, Mr. Joe Bass has been having a good deal of interest in offering the DVD assisted series Catholicism during the summer weeks. Joe is a college age seminarian, doing his pre-theology work at St Joseph Seminary in Covington, LA. You don’t have to have been with the group from the beginning to still benefit from attending, so come out Monday evenings, 6:30pm in the Parish Hall. The Staffs of the Parish, Preschool and School met for two days on June 11-12 to evaluate the past year and plan for the next. Our purpose in doing so is to clarify what went well, what didn’t in the past year, and set benchmarks we want to accomplish together for the coming year. Its hard, intentional work- but it pays off with both common support and a common direction. I am grateful to work with the women and men who serve our community. This past week the Diocese celebrated the ordination to the Diaconate for three young men. Interestingly two of the three came to their interest in priesthood vocations after having begun another career. The invitation from the Lord to serve comes in many forms. That you or I would bring God’s desire into our considerations about “what am I going to be?” or “what am I going to do with my life?” is not a given. For some, this never crosses their mind. Asking God for guidance does not mean a person is led automatically to the priesthood or to the religious life. It does mean that in every case God’s companionship is being given and received and that it will always produce good fruit. Pray for generous hearts for those who are seeking God’s companionship. Next Sunday is an “Andrew Dinner” so called because it was Andrew who was invited to come and see by his brother, Peter. I will be going with someone from the parish who is thinking about priesthood in the future. My garden has produced some squash, and some tomatoes are on the vine. Our Community Garden venture with the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit was recently written up in the Catholic

Commentator. Hope your summer days are flourishing. Love,

We extend our sympathy to the following parishioners who recently lost a loved one:

To the family of James Boyd. To the Nault family on the death of Debbie’s dad,

Grady Bullock, Sr. To the family of Debbie Daigle on the death of her

grandmother. To the family of Daniel Shea, on the death of his

father, John Shea.

BAPTISMS We welcome the following children to our parish family through the Sacrament of Baptism:

† Anna Katherine Elizabeth Byrd, daughter of Brian Byrd and Julie Prejean.

† Boace Miller Duncan, son of Bradley and Lindsay Duncan.

All are invited on Tuesdays to continue their worship and love of God at adoration. It is a visit, not a meeting. A visit of ‘love to love’. Bring whatever is in your heart and soul and leave it at the feet of the Lord for HE will be at yours. “Adoration for the Blessed Sacrament is the best time you will spend on earth”. -Mother Theresa Join us every Tuesday evening at 7:00pm for Eucharistic Adoration. Taking special time with our Lord is a great way to grow closer to Him.

VOCATION As Jesus poured out His life for us, He could be inviting you to consider doing the same for Him. If you think God is calling you to be a priest, a sister or brother, call Fr. Matt Dupre at 225.336.8778, [email protected].
