Happy Father’s Day The father of a righteous man has great joy; he who has a wise son delights in him. - Proverbs 23:24
Deacon Joe Retirement
Dear SML Parishioners,
I will be retiring from active diaconate ministry
(for real this time!) The extended lock down has provided the opportunity for my wife Sue and I to
reflect on this decision. As a couple of aging
seniors, we recognize our limitations and see the
need to pay more attention to our health issues. Fr.
Dan, has been most sympathetic and understanding
in approving our decision.
With truly great reluctance do we step away
from diaconate ministry at St. Mary of the Lakes.
Sue and I plan to continue living in Medford and to remain active members of SML parish. The 18 years serving as a deacon at SML have been the most rewarding and satisfying among the many phases of our lives. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the wonderful priests and parishioners of the SML parish. The people of SML will always hold a special place in our hearts. Thank you!
Deacon Joe and Sue Tedeschi
To the Good Parishioners of St. Mary of the Lakes: I just received word that the Blessed Sacrament (and the tabernacle) were stolen from St. Elizabeth Church in Boone, NC. In 2014, when I was pastor at St. Benedict in Holmdel, I learned that the Blessed Sacrament was stolen by satanists for the purpose of desecration in the Diocese of Oklahoma City. Bishop Paul Coakley asked for everyone to pray through the intercession of St. Michael the Archangel for the return of the consecrated host and our prayers were answered. At this time, let us join with our brothers and sisters across the nation and pray to St. Michael the Archangel for the return of the Blessed Sacrament and the tabernacle to the Church.
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil; May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.
Assuring you of my prayers, and asking yours in return, I am Sincerely yours in Christ,
Father Dan

Good Counsel Homes Good Counsel Homes was originally founded to address the needs of homeless, pregnant women in New York in 1985. Four homes are currently operational in the New York Metropolitan Area and in South Jersey. Since formation, Good Counsel has had 1,219 babies born to resident moms, 15 just this year so far. Our mothers can stay a year or longer after their baby is born. While in residence mothers have earned their GEDs, and graduated from Nursing School, Culinary School, Real Estate School, and Clinical Nursing Programs. Other Moms have attended community and county colleges, and other work related programs while working part time or full time jobs. Staffed 24/7, Good Counsel provides a family like atmosphere with all residents sharing the responsibilities of taking care of the home. Our mothers participate in a Life Skills Program with weekly classes on nutrition, post/pre-natal education, general parenting, chastity, spirituality, finances, job preparedness, and health and computer skills. The goal of all Good Counsel Homes is to help find the residents full time employment, safe and secure housing and to become financially and physically independent while becoming contributing members of society. If you are interested in contributing to our mission in Pro-life ministry and breaking the cycle of homelessness, please consider becoming a monthly donor by calling 201-795-0637, visit our website www.goodcounselhomes.org. We thank you for your faithful prayerful and financial support as we do what Jesus asks us to do… “to feed the hungry, clothe the naked and shelter the homeless.” God bless you.

Vacation Bible School Cancelled Vacation Bible School 2020 has fallen victim to the
pandemic. We have made the very difficult decision to cancel for this year. We all really look forward to VBS each
summer; it is a labor of love involving an army of volunteers of all ages who devote a great deal of time to make this a truly wonderful experience for the children of
our Parish. Hopefully, we can resume this much-loved program in 2021.

In Challenging times- it’s great to have supports like you!
Sheltering in place? Imagine if you had no place in which to shelter. Right now, with (as you know) our
host congregaons shut down and most of our volunteers and staff staying home, we are sll doing our
best to honor our commitment to homeless families with children. Our most recent family just moved
out into transional housing and we are in the process of selecng a new family in their place.
Your very generous donaon of $500 means more than you can know, and will bear good fruit! Thanks
to contribuons from our concerned community faith congregaons, companies and individual donors,
we are able to connue by using some new and innovave methods. Extraordinary mes call for extraor-
dinary measures. As you know, we will be using this donaon for motel shelter, as I doubt we will be able
to go back to our normal rotaon before May, if then.
IHN: serving homeless families with children since 1997. Four hundred and thirty-one families to date,
and as many more as we are able! Thank you!
Keep well and thank you again for thinking of the less fortunate at a me when
we could jusfiably be concerned only with ourselves and our families.

A PRAYER FOR GOING DEEPER O Divine Presence,
I do not enter the deeper realm all by myself.
Always you are there with me, as a guide to protect and direct me,
as a loving companion to embrace and support me, as a wise One to provide both challenge and solace.
O Divine Presence, as I go deeper to discover my roots,
wrap me in your love. Strengthen me as I face fear and insecurity,
surprise me with hidden treasures waiting within me. O Divine Presence,
when I feel shaky and uncertain from seeking and searching,
assure me often that I am always rooted in your love.
Remind me often that I am always rooted in your love.
Remind me often that your love never leaves me,
even when I lose the road to my inner home. O Divine Presence,
You desire my wholeness. You would never lead me anywhere
that would destroy me. Here is my life.
I place it in your care as I commit myself to going deeper.
Amen.

A Coronavirus Prayer Jesus Christ, you traveled through towns and
villages “curing every disease and illness.” At your command, the sick were made well. Come to our aid now, in the midst of the global spread of the coronavirus, that we may experience your healing love. Be with the doctors, nurses, researchers and all medical professionals who seek to heal and help those affected and who put themselves at
risk in the process. May they know your protection and peace. May victims regain their strength and health
through quality medical care. Heal us from our fear. Stay by our side in this time of uncertainty and sorrow. Be with those who have died from the virus. May they be at rest with you in your eternal peace. Hear our prayer, O Divine
Physician. Hear our prayer.
Amen.
Act of Spiritual Communion Prayer
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the
Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and
unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen.
Parish Office Drop Box Just a friendly reminder to please use the Parish Office Drop Box next to the Rectory front door
for drop offs and church envelopes.
Thank you !
SOMETHING TO MAKE YOU SMILE

Immaculate Heart. Bless us with peace, healing, rescue, and timely help with all our needs.
You are our Mother. Pray for us to your Son.
Amen.
