JUNE 21, 2016 RICHLAND HILLS CHRISTIAN CHURCH THE CHURCH VISITOR It’s Hot but the Work Goes on! Well, summer is here, and there is no doubt about that. 90 plus degrees, and pretty annoying humidity, make for real fun as we complete the courtyard in the next few weeks. The garden is also feeling the heat as the Texas sun says “Hello” in a most obnoxious way. On Sunday we could feel the heat as the AC’s in the sanctuary couldn’t get us below 74 degrees. I saw a few using personal cooling devices (aka fans). The reality is, we have several projects still in progress like the courtyard and continuing garden needs with watering to be done. The Wifi project nears its conclusion, and on July 5 th we have guests coming from many places. I’ll need some help hosting that event. As a pastor I am not a big fan of reducing ministries and activities in the summer. That results in a loss of momentum that has to be reestablished. On Sunday, in fact, we saw the results of our pull back as we had only 84 in worship. That was the lowest in quite a while. God’s activities are not up and down but constant. I guess one of my goals as a pastor is to bring us to a place where we place God first in our lives - ahead of everything else. That, being a part of God’s work, becomes that which we hunger for the most. Growing and transforming churches does not generally take down the sails that have caught the wind of God’s Spirit to take a break. Instead, they ride the wave of God’s activity until its conclusion wherever it leads. The end of the summer will see a marked increase beginning with Vacation Bible School in July and heading toward Back to Church Sunday on September 18 th with the theme being Now’s the Time! We need to realize every day is the time and each moment is precious. We may not get another opportunity to reach someone for Christ. We should not take for granted that there will be a tomorrow. Look into your heart, say a prayer, and open your mouth to share the Good News. God put us on this earth to tell others of the love we have found in Him. If we don’t, perhaps no one else will. --Pastor Paul Richland Hills Christian Church 3908 Ruth Road Richland Hills, TX 76118 (817) 284-8679 Senior Pastor: Paul Klaus Website: www.rhccdoc.com E-mail: [email protected]

LADIES HAT DAY @ RHCC

Sunday, June 26

Ladies, we invite you to wear your favorite hats!

Now’s the

Time!!! Sept. 18, 2016

Back to Church Sunday will be here before you know it, so start praying about who you can invite. It could be a family member or friend, an acquaintance or stranger. Statistics show that often times people are just waiting for someone to invite them to church and all we need to do is say, “You are welcome at our church.” I challenge everyone to invite as many as possible. Last year we had over 150, and I think we can reach 200 hundred plus with God’s help.

CWF Service Day - Tuesday, June 21

A BIG thank you to our dedicated CWF women of Richland Hills Christian Church who come together during the summer months to continue their Outreach Ministries. All ladies are welcome to join us on the third Tuesday of each month.

Thank You

Notes...My sister, Gayle, and I want to thank the entire RHCC community for their continuous prayers. The prayers worked! After six months of chemotherapy Gayle is now cancer free. They will continue to monitor her condition, but right now everything looks very good!!!

Blessings,Doug Fulk and FamilyGayle Luke and Family

We want to express our thanks for all your prayers, cards, calls, and delivering wheel chair and crutches during our recent health issues. Our church family is a very important part of our life and we sincerely appreciate and love all of you.

Admin in MinistryOn July 5th, we will be hosting a special event here at our church. Several colleagues in ministry, the Rev. Mike Hunter and Rev. Micah James, will be leading some training for small churches here at Richland Hills. They will cover topics related to administration in the church like finances and personal and legal issues. Other topics will be covered as well. Because we are hosting it, if you are interested, you can attend and get some valuable training. Lunch will be provided by the Pension Fund from McAllister’s Deli.

I will also need some volunteers to be greeters and hosts for the event. A sign-up sheet will be in the Gathering Area this Sunday. If you can help out, it’s on Tuesday, July 5th, from 8am to 4pm.

The Church and It’s Potential

“Two thousand years after Jesus left, the great mission of God in our world remains unfinished. The body of Christ in the twenty-first century has everything required to finish the job: the knowledge, the scale, the gifts and skills, the resources, and the mandate. And you have everything required to play your part. For followers of Christ, answering God’s invitation to join this kingdom mission is not just one of the things we are supposed to do; it is the reason we were created. We will never become the people God intends us to become until we embrace the mission we were made to fulfill.”

From Unfinished by Richard Stearns

Sunday School and YOU!!!

Even though some things slow down over the summer, Sunday School does not. We have classes for all ages, so start something new this summer and join us as we go and grow for God. To learn more about God, we must purposefully undertake the study of God’s Word!
