FROM THE STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE
Pledges are still being collected for the Giving With Glad and Generous Hearts 2019 Stewardship campaign. While the pledge budget has been set for 2019, there is still a need for $60,000 in Stewardship pledges to meet the goal.
To date, $661,925 has been pledged by 52% of the Selwyn households. Please consider renewing your commitment to Selwyn. It is not too late to make a difference in the life of our church through the Stewardship campaign. To make your pledge, email Tonya Moore.
Thank you to all who have already supported Selwyn’s ministries with your pledge. If you have questions, please reach out to Jamie Yearwood, Andy Johnston, or Andy Burgin.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION AND FORMATION
ADULT SUMMER SUNDAY SCHOOL, 9:30AM The new summer teaching and preaching series will begin on Sunday, June 2. The theme is Scriptures To Live By. All adults will meet in the Fellowship Hall.
CHILDREN’S SUMMER SUNDAY SCHOOL, 9:30AM Join us for faith, food, fellowship and fun.
WE WELCOME JOSH MILTON on June 2, as a 10-week summer intern. Josh has years of experience working with youth and families in churches near Stirling, Scotland. He has also served alongside the Parish Minister of Cambusbarren in worship leadership, teaching and pastoral care. Born and raised in India, he enjoyed a successful career in media, film and music production prior to moving toward a vocation of ministry. He will focus on how the church partners with our mission neighbors and how we connect with our youth. He will travel on the Appalachia Service Project, to the Montreat Youth Conference, and join efforts at Montclaire’s Freedom School. Josh will also be exploring sister churches, Union Presbyterian Seminary, worship, music and teaching. In July, Josh’s wife, Rachel, and their four-year-old daughter, Ava, will join him.
MISSION
HELP A CHILD CLIMB TO THE TOP Freedom School Runs June 17 - July 25
Help a child at Montclaire Freedom School fight "summer slide", the summer learning loss that hobbles children in poverty. If you volunteer just one time, you'll give a child a boost. Volunteers can sign up to listen to a child read (DEAR Buddy), provide snacks or supplies and more.
WORSHIP
COMMUNION WILL BE SERVED on Sunday, June 9 during the 10:30am Worship Service. If you are unable to attend the worship service and would like to receive communion at your residence, please notify Pam Brownlee, 704-622-5730 or the church office, 704-372-6836.
FROM THE WORSHIP GROUP If your child truly needs to step out of the worship service, please have them do so during a hymn if at all possible. This will minimize distractions for others. Please refrain from bringing food or drink in the sanctuary, especially during worship. In an effort to streamline the recycling of our church bulletins, we ask that after each service you please drop your bulletins in the basket by the outside doors to the Narthex as you leave the sanctuary.
GUEST MUSICIANS IN WORSHIP A generous designated gift has been made to Selwyn Avenue Presbyterian Church to provide more frequent professional guest musicians during 10:30 worship on Sunday mornings. We are deeply grateful for this fund.
On June 2 we will welcome Eric Millard, who has been serving as Visiting Professor of Trumpet, and will permanently join the faculty as Assistant Professor of Trumpet at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Millard was formerly the Third/Associate Principal trumpet with the Tallahassee Symphony, and has also
performed with the Boise Philharmonic, Ballet Idaho, Pensacola Symphony, Sinfonia Gulf Coast, Northwest Florida Symphony, and Albany Symphony. Millard’s fond interest in chamber music has led him to cofound both the Bluegrass Brass and Garnet and Brass quintets. He was a member of the Florida State University Faculty Brass Quintet. In addition to brass quintets, Millard has won prizes at the National Trumpet Competition (NTC) with multiple trumpet ensembles.

2019 SANCTUARY FLOWERS The calendar is available on the Spire table. Individuals, families, classes and groups are encouraged to sign up for flower dedications. The price is $65 for the weekly arrangement. This is a lovely way to honor special people, occasions, committees or groups and provide this inherently meaningful aspect of our worship Service. Please sign up so we can continue to enjoy God's beauty in this way.
