The Chamber of Cosmetics Industry of the Philippines, Inc. conducted a livelihood training program entitled,

#MayPeraSaBareta: Shampoo and Conditioner Bar Making Workshop. During the workshop, resource speakers assist

and guide the participants how to create trending products and taught them how to register their business.

Participant-beneficiaries were from Soroptimist International of Corinthians and Gawad-Kalinga Las Pinas. CCIP also

launched their 45th founding anniversary attended by its members, past presidents, allied associations and

government agencies.

Other local associations actively supported Philbeauty 2019 as well. The Philippine Society of Cosmetics Science

(PSCS) conducted several formulation workshops for cosmetics and makeup. Meanwhile, the Chamber of Herbal

Industry of the Philippines Inc. (CHIPI) held a general membership meeting and a workshop.

The Philbeauty stage was also busy with shows and competitions. The Makeup Box Demonstration was chaired by

Mr. Steven Sunny and the Unified Makeup Artists of the Philippines. Asia Hair Masters Association – Hong Kong

presented a barber show while the World PMU, KIMB and Diana Ilano Artistry organized the World PMU Master

Class Congress. Lastly, the Unified Makeup Artists of the Philippines held the Filipino Beauty Fantasy Make Up and

Hairdressing Competition and the 2nd Philbeauty Artistry Awards Haircut & Coloring competition was led by Mr.

Edwin Samot.

CCIP Celebrates 45 Colorful Years Through the combined efforts of VP Trina B. Aquino of VMV Hypoallergenics and VP Camille Buenaventura of Suarez Metaplas Industries Inc., CCIP launched its 45th Founding Anniversary and photo gallery last June 5, 2019

at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia. The event was graced by CCIP past presidents Ma. Jessica J. Plana,

President of Eurochemicals Inc. 2003-2004); Carole E. Lopena, President of Eunice Inc. (2005-2006); Anna Marie T. Anastacio, Chief Business Development Officer of VMV Hypoallergenics (2014-2015) and Silliman S. Sy, Chief

Operating Officer of Ever Bilena Cosmetics Inc. (2016-2017). Each past president shared inspiring messages to the Chamber.

CCIP was also privileged to have as guest speaker Atty. Anne Claire Cabochan of the Bureau of International

Trade Relations (BITR) under the Department of Trade and Industry. Atty. Cabochan congratulated CCIP for

helping MSMEs to be globally competitive. She also shared DTI’s continuous effort in working with other government agencies regulating the cosmetics industry so that these agencies will be aligned with the Ease of

Doing Business Act.

CCIP allied partners Dexter Deyto, Country Manager of UBM Exhibition Philippines Inc., and Michelle Palaca,

President of Philippines Society for Cosmetics Science (PSCS) gave their congratulatory messages as well.

UP Manila Chorale serenaded the audience with the songs, “True Colors” and “Tagumpay Nating Lahat”, while attendees held colorful ribbons symbolizing unity and the Chamber’s colorful history. CCIP President Emil Virtudes

thanked everyone in attendance for taking time to join the event.

During the program, a slide presentation showed CCIP’s journey of success through the years. Thereafter, the

CCIP photo gallery was unveiled by the Council of Presidents which led to a few long-time members of CCIP to reminisce their past years with the Chamber. Executive Vice President Dina Estacio gave the closing remarks and

led the champagne toast.

CCIP would like to give its special appreciation to Hazel Inacay for hosting the event; Ms. Catherine Clare Rivera,

President of Cosmetics, Health and Wellness Pharmacist Association of the Philippines, Inc. (COSHWELL), Glenda Virtudes, Officer of Cosmetics, Toiletry and Fragrance Association of the Philippines, Inc. (CTFAP), and

Shirley Macapayag of Fasttrack Access Travel and Tours as CCIP’s travel and business immersion partner.

CCIP’s Livelihood Program Shampoo & Conditioner Bar Making Workshop

#MayPeraSaBareta

Last June 4, 2019, CCIP in collaboration with Soroptimist International of Corinthians and Gawad Kalinga Las Pinas organized a Livelihood Training Program entitled #MayPeraSaBareta at Philbeauty Show in SMX

Convention Center, Mall of Asia, Pasay City. A total of 120 participants, predominantly from the two above-mentioned community organizations, participated in the training program and was taught the art and science

of making shampoo and conditioner bars.

There were three parts of the program: 1.) A lecture on the origin of the different beauty products, shampoo

and conditioner bars included, and this was delivered by Environatural Corporation Vice President Mr. Dennies

Ladia. 2.) A hands-on workshop on the making of shampoo and conditioner bars was conducted by Ms.

Vermilla Sarmiento, also from Environatural Corporation, and this was participated in by the attendees. 3.) A

lecture on how to start business and be compliant with regulatory agencies such as Food and Drug

Administration (FDA), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Local Government Unit (LGU) was

delivered by CCIP Executive Vice President for Internal Affairs Ms. Dina Estacio.

The participants of the livelihood training program were very grateful and appreciative of the learning’s they gathered during the seminar. There was an active exchange of questions from the participants and answers

from the resource speakers during the open forum.

President Mr. Emil Virtudes, Executive Vice President Ms. Jocelyn Babaan and Vice President Victoria Villanueva

of Livelihood Training Program led the awarding of plaques of appreciation to the CCIP community organization partners and resource speakers; they also received special gifts from the Perfect Skin Beauty

Products and Mariz Ventures Corporation. The participants on the other hand, were awarded certificates of

attendance and products from Environatural Corporation, Refinette Cosmetics Manufacturing Corporation and Skin Magical Beauty Products.

The program would have not been completed without the inspirational messages from Ms. Bettina Reyes,

President of Soroptimist International of Corinthians, Ms. Glenda Virtudes partnership coordinator of Gawad Kalinga Las Pinas and Mr. Emil Virtudes President of CCIP.

The event was truly a success because of the concerted effort by the livelihood committee members namely: Victoria Villanueva, Vice President of Livelihood Training Program; Jon Rueca of Lamoiyan Corporation and

Jacqueline Lim of First Asia Manufacturing Corporation who acted as hosts during the program and other CCIP Board of Trustees Vice President Elaine Ladera, Vice President Camille Buenaventura, Vice President

Trina Aquino, Vice President Edwina Villarosa and the CCIP Secretariat Melissa Bas.

REGULATORY AND INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS

AFFAIRS Cosmetics industry representatives namely CCIP President Mr. Emil

Virtudes, CCIP EVP for Internal Affairs Ms. Dina Estacio and PSCS

President Ms. Michelle Palaca had a meeting with ACSB Secretary

Ms. Eeme Datu last June 10, 2019 in Alabang, Muntinlupa City in

preparation for the 30th ASEAN Cosmetic Scientific Body (ACSB),

ASEAN Cosmetic Committee (ACC) and 13th ASEAN Cosmetic

Testing Laboratory Committee (ACTLC).

Laboratory Committee (ACTLC) in Nay Pyi Taw,

Myanmar last June 18-21, 2019.

The Food and Drug Administration Center for Cosmetics

Research and Regulation (FDA-CCRR) chaired an industry

meeting last June 11, 2019 in Alabang, Muntinlupa City, to

discuss industry concerns that will be tackled in the ASEAN

meetings.

CCIP REPRESENTATION and SUPPORT

Last June 13, 2019, CCIP handed over a cheque to the

Hope for Lupus Foundation founded by Usec. Emmeline

Aglipay-Villar. CCIP organized the Hope for Lupus

Charity Golf Tournament last March 6, 2019 at

theTagaytay Midlands Golf Club to help raise funds to

support individuals battling lupus, an auto-immune

disorder.

The CCIP Board of Trustees had a meeting with PLDT SME

CCIP Pres. Emil Virtudes attended the grand

opening of the Korea- ASEAN Free Trade

Agreement Support Center last June 25,

2019 at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel. The

main objective of the Korea-ASEAN FTA is to

eliminate tariffs on almost all traded

products between Korea and the ASEAN.

The agreement was signed last August 24,

2006 and implemented in June 2007.

PhilExport President, Mr. Sergio Ortiz-Luis

Jr., was also present in the event.

CCIP Pres. Emil Virtudes supported CCIP partner, UBM

Exhibition Philippines, in the International Fire and Security

Exhibition and Conference (IFSEC) Opening Ceremony at the

SMX Convention Center last June 13, 2019.

Pres. Emil Virtudes had a chance to meet Undersecretary for

Public Safety Mr. Nestor F. Quinsay Jr. of the Department of

Local Government Unit (DILG).
