Discontinued Bookcase Line...For many, many years we have carried bookcases, desks, and TV Stands from Forest Designs, a company based in Arizona. Shortly after the first of the year they appear to have had financial problems and it took many months and lots of phone calls for our last order to arrive, so we made the difficult decision to discontinue stocking products from them. Many of our customers have bookcases from Forest Designs, so we wanted to notify of this change to give you an opportunity to purchase matching bookcases while we have some in stock. As a positive, one of our Ohio Amish builders makes bookcases that will have a better finish, more wood options, and more stains.

Each Spring we visit our Amish woodworkers to see their new designs and order new store inventory. Most pieces on the following pages should be on our floor by the end of June, but our catalogs are full of special

order options if you want to customize a piece with the Anniversary Special coupon.

If you haven’t checked out our website (www.solidoakproductions.com) lately, you’ve been missing big changes! The look is totally different and hopefully it will be more user-friendly. We are very pleased with our new catalog section - it is much easier to thumb thru our catalogs and search for special order items just like you were in the store - and it is fast too. (Special thanks to our daughter, Cindy, for designing this and helping us learn how to post new items on it.)

New Website!

New Arrivals/Expo Notes from Indiana and Ohio

• • •This past February and March we made our annual trips to Indiana and Ohio to see what new designs were being offered by our Amish suppliers. We are not able to carry all their inventory in stock, but we are starting to get some of our new pieces out on the floor of the store, and you can check out the new catalogs on our website, which features all of the options available for special orders.

NEW TABLESWe just received the Sheridan Trestle and Lexington Leg tables in the store. We are very excited about the Sheridan Trestle. Before this table, the smallest trestles were 42” w x 60” long. The Sheridan comes 36” w x 54” long on our floor (you may add up to 3 leaves and other sizes are available). This makes it a perfect choice for people with a smaller space to get the trestle look if it wouldn’t fit before. We paired this new table with the new Abilene chair.

The Lexington Leg table has a twisted leg to add interest. We decided to use the new Driftwood stain on the base and a dark (Briar) stain on the top. We also have new Lexington chairs to match.

The Vadsco table is a new contemporary style that has a little Mid-Century Modern look. (There were several styles from Country Woodshop with this look.) This is on the floor in Cherry with a toner stain (a light look) and Hawthorn chairs.

We will also be getting some new pub tables in and have a new Bar/Island on the floor in Rustic Quartersawn Oak.

There were lots of other new styles that we are happy to show you in the catalogs in-store, or you can flip through them online too.

We liked the new Evergreen chair to match the live edge tables we have in the store, and other new styles will be coming soon.

Many of the table builders also have matching benches for many of their

tables now as this was a popular addition to their collections. Our main bench builder added several nook styles with hidden storage and pullouts. We ordered a Baylee Bookcase from them. It features a bookcase top with a lift-top bench attached on the bottom.

NEW BUFFET AND CHINA CABINETSWe have a small buffet on order (approximately 40” wide). There were also many new curios, buffets, and china cabinets, but it will probably be this Fall before we have any on the floor, so check those catalogs if you'd like a sneak peek or to order early.

BEDROOMSYou will see several new bedrooms over the coming months. On the floor now is the Matison Bedroom group with curved side posts and the Boulder Creek vanity with bench and pullout jewelry storage on the mirror. (The pullout jewelry option is available on mirrors in many of the collections by J & R Woodworking.)

Other bedrooms coming from Ohio will feature 3 drawer storage on the bed (Empire Mission style) and the Hyland Park set w/drawers in the footboard of the bed. If you like the live edge table we have on the floor, one builder has a live edge bedroom group. We picked up several other new bedroom builders, so be sure to check out their catalogs. (Some have upholstered headboards.)

New MIASOL from Gingersnaps Parent CompanyMIASOL is a new line from the Gingersnap company. It also an interchangeable collection, this time featuring a “coin” that is placed into the necklace or bracelet like a locket. Coins and jewelry are available in finishes mimicking silver, gold, and rose gold. These are very pretty and for now, we are one of only a few stores in Central Illinois to have them in stock (other stores will get them later in the year).

NEW MONTHLY FEATURE

"My favorite item we have is the Newport Pub with the Parkland 24" stool.

I feel the elegant look in the two-tone stain and the counter-height makes it a great addition to any design.

This table in the 42" X 60" size with an 18" leaf opens the table to 60" square.  This makes for a beautiful and functional family table that will seat 8."

• • •HOME OFFICEIn the Home Office area, we are waiting for the Belmont Pedestal Desk and Wall Hanging Cupboard to come in. This is a very different style than any we have carried and we are excited to hear from our customers how you like it too. Since last year we also picked up a new desk called the Jacobsville with a hutch, we really like it. Another builder offered a new “stand-up” desk we will be getting on the floor.

OCCASIONAL TABLES and TV STANDSLots of new Occasional tables are coming. In

the Austin style we carry, round end tables, small and large wedge tables, plant stands, and writing tables have been added. (Many of these are coming to our floor) We will also add the Greenfield style to the floor. We have added a few new builder’s catalogs in this area too.

We ordered a Contemporary Mission TV stand in a cappuccino stain on cherry that has a Mid-Century Modern look from a new builder. In the fall we will be adding a new wall unit and other new styles in the Entertainment area.
