We are proud to be wrapping up another chapter year having completed all management activities needed to maintain our Platinum Chapter status. This Chapter status is earned through continued dedication of our Board Members in coordinating educational and networking opportunities for you, our members. If you are interested in becoming part of the team that manages the Chapter, there are several board positions open with our annual elections occurring this month. Whether you want to learn more about marketing, event planning, finance, education, or professional member and student relations, there is an area of interest for just about everyone. We always welcome people to our Board meetings to see what goes into managing the Chapter and to determine if involvement with the Board as an official member or on an ad hoc basis is of interest.
The annual meeting is a good opportunity to hear what the Chapter has been doing in general and also find out about Chapter leadership opportunities. So, come join us on June 15th (details below). See you there!
Happy Anniversary to Patrick Andriette, who is celebrating 5 years as an APICS member!!

Officers and Directors are in the process of finalizing times and events for upcoming future meetings as well as brainstorming ideas of our un-planned future dates. Currently, I am a Peer Leader for the College of Business Administration and will be contacting my students in an attempt to get them interested to potentially join this great organization as well. We are looking forward to this upcoming school year in August with our newly elected Members, Directors, and Officers!

At our last meeting, the UT Chapter held elections and some positions have changed hands. Two new members have been elected into the Secretary and Administrator positions while existing Board Members have moved to the Vice President and Secretary positions. These new Members of the Board are very excited and bring an injection of new enthusiasm to the Board. This enthusiasm will help facilitate the many events and meetings that are yet to come. This meeting also featured a Buyer from Ford Motor Company, Jim Snodgrass. Jim spoke in detail about what his job is like and how new graduates can get ahead of the curve after graduation.

As I mentioned last month, the Chapter Board reviewed the Chapter Bylaws and is recommending a number of minor changes. A copy of the existing Bylaws marked up with the proposed changes has been posted to the Chapter Website, changes start on Page 5. The majority of changes are merely the replacement of “Chairman” with “Chair” or “Chairperson”. We have added a clarification that Chapter Officers must be members of the Toledo Chapter at the time of their appointment to the Board and must maintain their membership while in office. The responsibilities of the VP Student Liaison have been updated and finally the section about Board Members continuing in office automatically will be removed.
Attendees at our Annual Meeting are responsible for electing the 2016 - 2017 Board of Directors which will take office on July 1st. Two current Board Members have decided to step down at the end of this year--Don Gardner and Vanessa Burkard. Don has been a member of the Board since February 2010 and has served as VP Administration and VP Finance and Vanessa, our VP Publicity, was elected at last year’s Annual Meeting. Their contributions to the running of the Chapter are much appreciated. Also, Lindsay Vollmar, our current President, has just taken a position with SpaceX and is relocating to California. We wish her success in this new stage in her career… she will be missed. At this time the following chapter members have expressed interest in the board positions shown below:
Bruce Brechin President
Sheryl Holbrook Executive Vice President
Lisa McLaughlin VP Administration
Cyndi Sayre VP Programs
Dani Long VP Student Liaison
The following positions are also open: VP Education VP Finance VP Membership VP Publicity
A brief description of roles and responsibilities is available here. If you have any questions about Board membership and would be interested in serving on the Board in any position, contact Bruce Brechin [email protected] .
