Posted by Chris on 5/22/2013, 3:22 pm, in reply to “Movie Night”. We just moved to Trilogy and attended one of the movie nights. We had a lot of trouble hearing as the sound system did not seem to project well. Is this always the case?

Posted by jean on 5/18/2013, 3:00 pm, in reply to "Janice comment" I would like to see the new board members be very practical and responsible with finances and do their best to keep our fees low. Taxes, tax bonds, health insurance and etc. costs are going up and up with no end in sight. This has changed many people's disposable income outlook. The people on the board look to be people who will do a great job. Thank You for taking on this responsibility.

Posted by Janice on 5/17/2013, 8:33 am, in reply to "Re: board members" Congratulations to Gary, Marilyn and Mel. Glad to see you are the new Board members. Hope you get things taken care of in a way that make the majority of us happy. Thinking of the best way to make this community desirable to live in and affordable for the people who live here on a small retirement income. Lets give them a good send off and attend some of the meetings for a change!!!

TMAC MEETING Posted by TMAC MEETING on 5/16/2013, 4:47 pm

TMAC meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 12th at 7:00pm in the Sierra Ballroom at the Pacific Crest Lodge.

I see Parra Landscaping harvested around 24,000 lbs of Avocados. What is that equal to in money for the HOA.

What is TGMA and TGIS. Dear Homeowner:

It has come to our attention that many residents within the Glen Ivy community have asked for more information about the relationship between the two separate associations that are involved in many of the community activities. The purpose of this special mailer is to try and provide some basic information about the nature of TGMA and TGIS and how the two relate to each other.

1. WHAT IS THE TRILOGY AT GLEN IVY MAINTENANCE ASSOCIATION?

The easiest way to think: of TGMA is as the homeowners association. This association owns or maintains all the front yards & common area landscaping, private streets, gates, clubhouse, tennis courts, walks and related improvements within the residential community. The staff that works for the association including the community manager, fitness director, activities director etc. have their salaries paid for by TGMA:: None of their salaries are paid for. by TGIS. All budgets for repairs to the common area, architectural reviews of landscaping and modification to residences, enforcement of CC&Rs, _and rules, and collection of the monthly assessments are handled by TGMA. This association is essentially the business corporation which handles the day to day \:::=

operation, repair and management of the community. All homeowners pay the same amount in the form of monthly assessments to belong to this corporation. Stone Canyon is higher. 2. WHO BELONGS TO TGMA?

Each homeowner automatically becomes a .member of TGMA when they close escrow on their home and their membership terminates when they sell their home. There are regularly scheduled board meetings to which all homeowners are invited to attend. The board of directors for TGMA is presently comprised of 5 homeowner. These positions are elected by the residents.

3. WHAT IS TRILOGY AT GLEN NY COMMUNITY SERVICES?

TGIS is not the homeowners association. This corporation has a separate board of directors that control the activities of TGIS. One way to think of TGIS is as the special activities association. TGIS sponsors or subsidizes many activities to which homeowners attend such as tours, the Halloween and Christmas Party etc. However, events sponsored by TGIS· may be open to the public or other clubs, educational, cultural, religious or other organizations, and such events are not required to be limited to Glen Ivy homeowners. Homeowners do not pay any assessments to TGIS beyond the one time fee paid at closing based upon the purchase price of their home. There is a very complete- explanation of TGIS in a recorded legal document you were provided as part of the purchase of your home. It is called "Community Enhancement Fee Agreement". We would encourage you to read this approximately 10-page document

Page 3

4. WHO BELONGS TO TGIS? . - 1

The sole member of TGIS is TGMA, Inc. When TGIS was turned over to the residents of Trilogy there was a clearly spelled out procedure for an election of homeowners to comprise the TGIS board. Members terms were based on number of votes each candidate received. The board of .directors .of TGIS_ currently controls all aspects of the funds of TGIS: just as the TGMA-board controls the funds of the homeowners

, association. TGIS implements its own budgets and activities to ensure that the funds are self-perpetuating at a level that will allow TGIS to function for many years into the future. The homeowners association (TGMA) has no direct involvement in the activities of or control of TGIS activities and decisions. However, as the main purpose of TGIS is to provide activities for the residents of the community, decisions and activities are based upon feedback provided through resident surveys.

5. WHAT TYPE OF CORPORATION IS TGIS?

TGIS is what is called a public benefit non-profit corporation. As such, TGIS will not be required to pay taxes on the interest that is earned on their financial funds. For example, if these funds were deposited into the homeowner associations accounts, approximately Y:z

of the interest earned would be paid to the IRS and State Franchise Tax Board. However, as a public benefit corporation, interest earned remains non-taxable and as a result can be utilized for the homeowner' s benefits and to increase long term sustainability of the funds into the future. Additionally, funds can then be set aside long term for TGIS activities which if not funded through this type of mechanism would have an adverse effect on the amount of assessments that each owner makes to TGMA.

6. WHO MANAGES THE TGIS FUNDS?

The TGIS board is charged with fulfilling the vision of TGIS as found within it's articles of incorporation and bylaws, and in administering its funds. In accordance with state and federal statutes, TGIS is required to periodically perform an audit and to comply with all proper accounting and reporting requirements that apply to public benefit corporations. \"r' 7. HOW DO I INFLUENCE THE ACTIVITIES OF TGIS?

Periodically, surveys are sent out to each homeowner to determine what type of clubs, interests and special activities they would like to see sponsored by TGIS. The results of these are provided to TGIS to help them in structuring appropriate community activities. 8. SUMMARY

Both TGMA and TGIS are California non-profit corporations and as such have to operate within the terms of state and federal statutes. As the legal documents for each corporation are quite lengthy, there is no adequate way to fully explain their complexities in this news brief. Hopefully, this information can at least provide enough information to provide a better understanding of these organizations and how they operate.

Toolbar

How many times have you opened your browser and asked how did all those toolbars get there? Well many times software developers place toolbars into their installers. When a user, you, download something you often don't see the little box that allows you to opt out of the toolbar download. When downloading something from the internet pay attention to everything on the screen before you agree to the download. Is there a box that allows you to skip the insertion of a toolbar? Look carefully since many times it is hidden or perhaps at the very end of the agreement. Once you are aware of this, you can keep your browser clean. These toolbar can slow down your browser, take up real estate on your screen, see the above photo, and increase the risk of a virus and spyware infections.

Internet Speed My internet speed is not what is advertised. Almost no one gets the internet speed that your internet service provider (ISP) advertises. External conditions make it difficult to accurately tell you the speed you will get but in advertising your ISP will show the best speed they have. However, the advertised speed and your speed show be pretty close. You might want to check your speed using a a free application. Point your browser to SPEEDTEST.NET You should get close to 70% of the speed promised by your ISP. So if your ISP tells you that your download speed will be 24 Megabytes per sec-ond,, you should get aleast 16.8 MBPS. If you get less than 70% you may have a log jam somewhere in your con-nection or system. You can try to identify the problem by doing the speed test on another computer in your home. If you get a good rate, then perhaps the problem is with your other computer. Check on the way your computer connects to the internet. If you are using Wi-Fi, it could be your wireless router. Try connecting directly to your router or to your modem.. If this improves your speed, perhaps you might consider replacing your router.. You can also try a different port on your router. Or changing out the Ethernet cable you are currently using.. If you try these and there is no improvement, it might be time to contact your service provider and have them verify your connection.

Bob’s Corner

Subject: Slate Tile Installation, Lobbies The recent installation has created a safety hazard which has been noted by several individuals and commented at the last BOD General Session. Our previ-ous General Manager commented that the “high points were reduced. I feel, and others, that this is inadequate and the hazardous situation still exist. It is clear that this type of tile is inappropriate for our facilities and needs to be remedied and appears that the Board is firm in their decision as to not have this situation recti-fied in any manner. $17,140 was appropriated out of last year’s Reserve Funds for this installation. This Fiscal year, after scheduled spending, there will be $3,141,223 in the Fund. To-tal contribution will be $708,023 with a planned expenditure of $519,800. Surly there is sufficient Funds to rectify this unacceptable situation. Or maybe it is an “own up to a mistake” that the Board of Directors refuse to acknowledge, especially during a time of term ending of three Directors, that wish to be reelected? I understand that all are volunteers and not professionals and will make mis-takes. However not acknowledging a mistaken decision, as small as it is, leads to additional poor decisions. If one cannot learn from mistakes, they are destined to repeat them. Lastly, if one or more of our Members, has a fall that is attributed to this haz-ardous slate tile, and are physically hurt or disabled, how are you going to justify not taking the proper steps to alleviate this situation? Sincerely, Robert Cartolano

ABOUT CORONA POLICE WILL THE PRESENCE OF THE CORONA POLICE DEPARTMENT BE A BENEFIT TO TEMESCAL VALLEY

RESIDENTS?

To balance the FY 2011-12 budget the City of Corona did not fill 36 Corona Police Department positions and did not fill 11 Corona Fire Department positions.

The promised 14 Corona Police Department positions will provide the Temescal Valley with a ratio of one sworn officer to 1,000 Temescal Valley residents, virtually identical to the Riverside County Sheriff’s De-partment ratio of sworn officers to population.

The City of Corona Police Department is projecting significant revenue from Temescal Valley residents for code/parking/traffic fines and penalties versus the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The promised 14 Corona Police Department officers can be dispatched outside the Temescal Valley as needed to handle City of Corona calls.

While the City of Corona has promised 14 additional Corona Police Department positions for the Temescal Valley, there is no guarantee that following annexation these positions will be implemented and, if im-plemented, will be cut in the future.

The City of Corona financial shortfall in FY 2013-14 ($5.2 million) and FY 2014-15 ($7.6 million) raises the distinct possibility that the 14 City of Corona Police Department positions promised may be eliminated in the future due to the city financial shortfall. As in the past, to balance the City of Corona budget, police department positions either will be eliminated or not filled, thus reducing community safety and security since we have no ability to revert back to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The City of Corona Police has communicated a citywide response time of 5 minutes. This is not a Temescal Valley response time. The City of Corona has no data to support any response time in the Temescal Valley since it has not actively patrolled the Temescal Valley. To assume a 5 minute response time in the Temescal Valley is not factual since there is no data to support the claim.

Recently it took the City of Corona Police about 20 minutes to respond to an emergency incident at Stater Bros., located at I-15 and Cajalco, which is in the City of Corona. Three Stater Bros. employees had to restrain a violent individual until the police arrived about 20 minutes later.

The City of Corona does not have a helicopter for quick response to an emergency. Riverside County Sher-iff’s Department, with a helicopter, can respond to a variety of emergency needs.

Response times do not equate to stopping crime or apprehending a criminal in the act of an illegal activity. The presence of the Corona Police Department sworn officers does not eliminate the need for HOA security

patrols to protect Temescal Valley communities from criminal activities. Communities inside Corona city limits still find the need for private security patrols.

Since the Temescal Valley is a low crime area versus the City of Corona, police officers will continue to be dispatched to the high crime areas in the City of Corona

The Book Club is alive and well

says our Marion Madame

Librarian Aka

Claire Johnson

Are you getting ready for your summer reading yet? Check out the selections we added to our stacks in the Library. I have personally stacked many books that have a 2013 copy-write date so I’m sure you can find a new book if you look around. I even stacked some books in the LARGE PRINT section that is over near the desk and the computer. By the way, that computer is connected to the internet, so if you would like to use it, feel free to do so. The Library is obviously overcrowded and many of the books are duplicates. We will soon be going through the stacks and re-moving books that are older than 2005 and triplicate copies. Then we will have more room for our new donations. The DVD’s and CD’s on tape continue to be popular. If you aren’t familiar with our selections there is a free standing shelf right in front of the computer and desk. Hopefully you return them in a timely manner. In the right corner in the back of the room, there is always (well almost always) a large and wonderful puzzle. It is for anyone to work on and if you have any 1,000 piece or more puzzle you’d like to donate, we’d live to have it. When they are finished we admire them for a few days, and then box it up and donate it. Our older books are donated to the Corona Public Library. If at anytime you would like to look through our ‘pile’ of books that are waiting to be taken to Corona, just ask Bob Cheek or me where they are You’re welcome to any and all of them! A special THANK YOU to Bob Cheek for all his work in the Li-brary. It takes time to re-shelve books and he does a wonderful job keeping the library in good shape. Sorry that he missed the Volunteer Luncheon... on vacation!! That’s all the new for this month…..
