CoursesBeginners Course 5th June

These courses are a great way to learn a pole moves intensively and with other people at the same level as you and are very focussed.

They are targeted at the complete beginner to those who have had a couple of lessons. There are planned moves to learn each week but ulti-mately you are working at your own pace within the class. The class starts

off with a warm-up and ex-ercises to increase core and upper body strength. Then you will be allowed a time to prac-tice moves from the previous class and move on to the new ones after that. The class is fin-ished with a cool-down.

The next 6 weeks course will be held from Tuesday 12th June 7-8.30pm for only £60. Contact now to book in.

Maximum 10 people so don’t miss out! £5 off if you recommend a friend and they pay for the full course! Or a free group session if you recommend someone who joins the course

Splits Course and Flexibility Course

One of the best ways to improve the way your pole dancing looks and

feels is to increase your flexibility. Not only does an increased flexibility and stretching improve your quality of life, it also reduces the likelihood of injury

and muscle pain due to a fuller range of movement in your joints.

Unfortuneately Lauren Red can no longer take these classes as she is

opening her own studio and so will not be able to travel up anymore. I know that a lot of you still want to keep your flexibility up and so we will still continue

these sessions!

We have splits courses running for 6 weeks at only £40. Our next course

starts Monday 9th July at 8pm. Places go fast so book now!

JoJo LockeOk, let me introduce myself if you don’t already know me!! My name is JoJo, pole name

is GI JoJo. I’m the crazy one that tends to disrupt the class lol.I started pole back in November 2010 after deciding that I needed to lose some weight. I hated the gym and found it a massive chore. I joined Twisted Pole with Han-nah in Jan 2011 and that’s when the fun started and I also started to see results with my body. I started off with the very basic moves, Hannah directed and taught me very well. She is patient and her instruction is very clear and precise. I can now get myself in to positions I never expected to get myself into at my age!! I have muscles on top of muscles.

With the twisted group lessons, I have now met a lot of very nice people. Everyone is polite and very down to earth. You don’t feel out of place and no one criticizes you for not managing a move or not doing it as good as others do. Also I love the Twisted socials which mainly involve hav-ing a good giggle round town and normally do fancy

dress!!!

I’m very happy to have achieved my ‘Cross Ankle Re-lease’ and my ‘Shoulder mount’ this year ‘pats on the back for me’

This year I got involved in one of the ‘Twisted Pole’ charity shows. This was very nerve racking at first, especially with opening the show with my routine but I totally enjoyed it and had a massive sense of achievement once I had finished!! I also was nominated and won ‘Twisted Poler Of The Month’ for march 2012. I think someone must have paid for me to win, but thanks all the same peeps lol.

I shall definitely continue at ‘Twisted Pole’ for as long as my body can take it.

Also, just a quick note for Hannah, if I win the lotto, I am buying you your own studio building!!

Love you all and see you all very soon.JoJo xx xx

Tales of a Twisted Trouper

Page 13: June 2012 Twisted Pole Newsletter

Tales of a Twisted Trouper Becca SmalleyI’m Becca Smalley, but my pole name is Baby Becca. If that hasn’t already given it away I’m the youngest at twisted pole as im only 15. Before I started pole dancing I use to be many forms of dance such as ballet and street however due to several injuries I had to stop dancing. I missed dancing dearly and that’s when I thought I wanted to try something a little bit different I’d heard the pole dancing was incredible for fitness so I found Hannah and twisted pole I started pole in 2010 and have never looked back since.

My progression and fitness can be seen through the two years I have been at twisted pole, although myself I have noticed that since February 2012 the progres-sion I have made has been outstanding. I started going to the group session and met some lovely people! Working in the groups and with other people at twisted pole has been wicked and Hannah has always got new tricks to show us. I have made many new friends at twisted pole and every one of them is lovely. Since the start of the twisted pole I have worked really hard to improve my flex-ibility, I have managed to achieve the ‘special k’ move with quite flat legs. I’m currently working on trying to over split as I would like my ‘Jade splits’ to get flatter. I have been working on my cocoon and since I started this move each time I have done it I have managed to get my leg a little bit further past my head however

I still have a long way to go! I have many proud moments at twisted pole, for example the ‘Help the heroes’ charity show where I put together my first routine and performed, I was really nervous but once it was over couldn’t stop smiling!

I have learn many new tricks this year and my favorite has to be my hand-spring! As it took me ages to learn, but eventually all my hard work had paid off. On Monday the 28th of may I had a private one to one lesson with Anastasia Skukhtorova at Elena Gibsons studio in London. This was one of favorite moments in pole as I learnt some awesome moves and stretches to improve the work I am already doing. She showed me how to get into the move called the ‘Rainbow’ and if I work really hard on the stretch that even-tually I will be able to do the move. This year I have learnt some awesome transition and moves to improve my routine. I Am looking forward to the next twisted pole show, and would like to say a massive Thankyou to Hannah and Cat for the help and advice that they have given me in my lesson. Lot of love guyss Becca xxxx 13

Twisted Trouper of the Month

The poler of the month is some-one who has really excelled and shown great progress throughout the month and in general. Please pass all your suggestions on to us of who you think deserves to be the Twisted Trouper of next month.

As winner of this title the poler will receive a certificate and a Twisted Pole towel.

May 2012Rebecca SmalleyWell done to Becca who is this month’s Twisted Trouper of the month. Becca is currently our youngest student at age 15. She has been poling with Twisted Pole since before the studio was even set up when I was still teaching from my living room.

Becca has been through a lot in the last few years with regards to almost break-ing her back and has been in and out of hospital with problems which could have potentially kept her out of pole dancing but she has pushed herself further and further after each injury (which haven’t been pole dance related and with the Ok from the doctor).

Especially in this last month she has re-ally excelled in everything she has been working on including her flexibility which she has been working hard on. She has been attending every lesson she can get her hands on and has even travelled down to London to have a prvate lesson with her Pole Idol Anastasia.

You can read more about her pole journey on the Tales page.

Massive Twisted Thank You!!

Twisted Pole has been running exactly 1 year and a half on July 1st which is absolutely fantastic. It hasn’t been an easy journey but there are lots of people who I would like to thank for helping me along the way so far.

Firstly thank you soooo much to my Fiancée Kieron Hunt without whom none of this would have been possible. His constant support and words of encour-agement have got me through all of the most difficult parts of Twisted Pole. He is also responsible for 90% of the work done on the studio including putting the floor in and many other aspects.

A Special thank you to Laura Brown who has not only helped myself with a lot of things and has great advice but has also been a big help to her fellow students.

Thank you to JoJo Locke- You are an amazing advocate for Twisted Pole and spread the Twisted word far and wide. I

really appreciate your constant support for Twisted Pole.

Thanks to Amy Pearson also for sharing the Twisted word!

Thanks also to Cat Sambell who is the best double pole partner ever! And a great instructor.

Thank you to Kirsty Walton for your sup-port very early on in Twisted Pole and your continuing support now.

And last but not least thank you to EVERYONE whether you have made a small or big contribution to Twisted Pole I appreciate everything that you have helped with.

Thank you to everyone who attends lessons and continually supports Twisted Pole. I absolutely LOVE teaching you all and lessons are so fun with you. You are what makes Twisted Pole what it is today and without you we would be nothing!

Love you all Lots!!!!
