International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Competition
DesignationWhat Officials are required for:
– IPC competition – Technical/Asst. Director (TD/ATD) full slate of senior officials (10) and as many classifiers as required. (2.1.4, Parylimpics, Worlds).
– IPC sanctioned competition – TD, 4 stroke Judges as many classifiers as required. (2.1.5, European Championships).

1. Similar to our SNC Competition Coordinator
2. Oversees the IPC Swimming Classification of swimmers before and during the meet.
3. Coordinates the Technical, Medical Classifiers, and Technical Officials (TO).

Medical Classifier
1. Is a Physiotherapist or Doctor2. Does the bench test (video next)3. Observes the swimmer in the water
prior to and during competition (usually from the stands)
• Available to the TO to consult on a swimmer’s ability to do a stroke

IPC SWIMMING SANCTION PROCESS
IPC Swimming requires that all swimmers who wish to be eligible to be put into the World Rankings or set a World Record be licensed by IPC Swimming for a yearly fee of 15 € per swimmer.
Swimming/Natation Canada has developed a strategy around this.
