WORDS OF WELCOMEPlease rise in body or in spirit as our worship begins. A deacon of the church will place the opened Bible on the pulpit, reminding us that the Word of God gathers the church and belongs to all God’s people.

*HYMN #605 On Pentecost They Gathered MUNICH

CALL TO WORSHIPPastor: Why have we gathered? All: We have gathered to give witness to the presence of God’s Spirit in our time.Pastor: This Spirit had moved Christ’s disciples throughout the centuries to proclaim Christ with a burning desire. All: Christ’s disciples were people set on fire by the coming of God’s Spirit.Pastor: We pray for that same Spirit to move among us.All: May it transform that which is hard and dead, and rekindle our faith and action with the flame of Pentecost.

CALL TO CONFESSION

PRAYER OF CONFESSIONAll: Almighty and ever gracious God, we confess that we have failed to open our hearts to the power of your Spirit. We continue the divisions of Babel, speaking in tongues that confound rather than clarify, hurt rather than heal, separate rather than unite. Though we are not deserving, we pray for the gift of

To all who have attended our 12:30PM Contemporary Bilingual Service/ A todos los que han asistido a nuestro servicio bilingüe contemporáneo de las 12:30PM.Summer is often a time for doing things a bit differently, for ‘taking a vacation’ from the usual patterns. After nearly 2 years Rev. Edwin has stepped down from leading this service, but he has created for us a service of prayer and meditation, of quiet connection with one another and with God. We will be following this format over the summer. Please join us as we explore a different way to connect with God, and with one another.

At United Church on the Green, we seek to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God, following in the footsteps of Jesus. We are also a progressive Protestant Christian church, a member of the nationwide United Church of Christ (UCC).

We have a long history. Established 1742. Meetinghouse was built in 1815. The Amistad Incident? Abolition of slavery? The 1970 Black Panther trials?

Divestment in South Africa? United was there. We believe God is still speaking to the world today... and we're trying to listen.

Not a "The Bible says it. I believe it. That settles it." kind of church. Questions encouraged. (Actually, they’re necessary.)

"Open and Affirming" of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people since 1989.

We are working with God to build a better future. Not interested in "saving souls" or "converting the heathen." God's love is for all. Trying to "connect the dots" to grow peace, justice, and compassion in the

world.
