DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make
your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6 Exams have been written, projects have been presented, the courses of study have been completed, and the students of Meadow Green Academy enjoyed their end of year trips and activities. Our students will head into the summer as stronger readers, better spellers, more rapid computers of mathematical facts, more effective problem solvers, and more compassionate human beings than they were a few short months ago. Their own hard work, together with the guidance and support of their parents and teachers, has enabled them to strive for and achieve excellence in their academic endeavours. Over all of us, of course, was the watchful eye and unwavering love of God in whom we put our trust. Over the past few weeks, we have been blessed to witness the senior kindergarten students don their graduation gowns and caps for the first of many academic milestones. In a few days, the grade eight graduates will celebrate the end of their elementary education and embark on the next step of their learning. I congratulate them on their achievements and wish them well. Our grade one to three choir brought joy to seniors through their music. In grades four to eight, we began what I hope will become a tradition at MGA, the “Innovation Projects”. Many of our parents took the time to share their own experiences with innovation in their various fields with the students, who were fascinated and inspired by their presentations. Our student teams then worked collaboratively to develop innovative ideas which culminated in their presentations to a “Dragon’s Den” panel. They made use of their knowledge and skills from many subject areas, added their own ingenuity, and created some excellent products. As director of Meadow Green Academy, I offer praise to God and thank Him for the opportunity to lead your children along in their academic and personal journeys. May you enjoy the summer months as you spend quality and fun time with your family. God bless you. Georganne MacKenzie Director

INNOVATION AT
LAKESHORE The Lakeshore students proved to be innovative, divergent
thinkers who collaboratively solved real life problems, ending
the school year in an atmosphere of creativity and
cooperation. Teams of innovators brought their ideas and
projects to a special edition of MGA ‘Dragon’s Den’ to pitch
their creations. Armed with research, videos, commercials,
prototypes, working models, posters and business cards,
they presented their ideas to a panel of dragons who
together invested over $1 000 000 to promote a
variety of new products. Among their innovative
ideas were: a carrier/bed for pets, a working food
dispenser for pets, a composter that freezes
compost, a replacement brake generator that
doubles the distance that an electric car can
travel before recharging, a magnetic or clip-on
water bottle holder for a student’s desk,
naturally flavoured vitamin water, an
eatable glass, and ore. Many thanks to
Mrs. Abraham, Mr. Melo (and his team
Brandon Riddell and Eleni Alpous),
Dr. Jagger, Mrs. Stephanie MacKenzie,
Mrs. Rocha and Mrs. Silva, and
Mr. Rees for their inspiring and
informative presentations about
innovation in their respective fields!
