whoever believes in the Almighty and the Last Day should show hospitality to his neighbour.
And whoever believes in the Almighty and the Last Day should show hospitality to his
guest.” [Sahîh al-Bukhârî and Sahîh Muslim]
FFRANCERANCE TTRIPRIP Sr Nadia and Br Fouad from the Arabic and Religious Studies department took the
year 10 girls on a trip of a lifetime to Paris, where they experienced the true
authenticity of Arabia in Paris. This was the first trip abroad in Al Risalah history. The
activities included visiting the Eiffel tower, Le Mosque de Paris and dining in a
Lebanese restaurant. The students thoroughly enjoyed it and the trip was truly one of
Al Risalah’s finest moments! Amal Warsame said “It was amazing to see the cultural differences, the historical monuments and to experience being abroad with my friends. We would like to thank Sr Nadia, Br Fouad and Br Nasir for giving the yr10s this opportunity. Thank you!”

that brought together some of the finest student mathematicians in the
region.

LLEGOLANDEGOLAND TRIPTRIP BY ALAMIN CHOWDHURY AND MUHAMMAD GANGAT
Many trips have been organised this year, and many thanks must go out to the teachers and
departments who have taken the time out to organise and take us on these trips. These have included
trips from Maths, English, Science, Islamic Studies, Religious Studies, Arabic, History, ICT, Art, and
many more to come.
Year 7, 8 and 9 recently took a trip back in time to Shakespeare's globe theatre. It was a great
opportunity for the students to experience the world of Shakespeare in depth. Tours were taken and
plays acted as the girls were given a chance to perform Macbeth. A teacher who accompanied them
said:“I learnt about Shakespeare as a student, however I learnt a lot about the Globe and it’s history”.
On 24th March 2014, 8B & 9B
students took a day out to visit
Legoland Windsor Resort.
We all enjoyed ourselves and not
just sat on rides but also visited
an educational workshop to build
our ICT and Lego skills. In this
workshop we made a lion out of
Lego and gave it instructions to
sit up and sit back down.
All praise to the Almighty, we all
have learnt a lot in this trip also
we enjoyed it. Most say the trip
was really fun, a few of the rides
were scary and enjoyable at the
same time which made it really
fun. This was a day where
students enjoyed themselves
“In my opinion I found the trip really fun because I learnt something new about technology also the rides were fun”, says
Alamin. “In Lego land the rides were really fun there was a lot of fun water rides which I enjoyed
the most.”
Muhammad says “ I personally had a good day out and from what I asked my friends they also enjoyed it too. The rides there were very fun and relaxing especially the ‘Jolly Rocker’ and the ‘Viking River splash’.
Many thanks to Br.Raihaan, Sr.
Hunna and Br Abdulhafeez for
taking us on this trip.

May the Almighty reward them all and grant them Paradise Ameen.” And we would also like to thank the head of ISOC, Sarah Salih for all her hard
work and dedication. It is greatly appreciated, Many thanks!!!

TTHEHE HOUSEHOUSE BY HANA KHAN I stared up at the tall, imposing, bleak mansion. The gate loomed up above me, old and rusted now.
The broken windows were nothing but broken shards of uninviting glass. Cold sweat trickled down my
forehead and my palms were sticky with suspense. The path was covered with weeds, the garden once
pretty and promising now intimidating and over grown. As I approached the arched wooden porch, an
icy wind tore away the last of Autumn’s leaves. The stench of smoke and fear drifted up my nose, I
felt sick! Shadows loomed in the empty window frames. My heart was in my mouth. Trembling with
fear, I knocked on the door .......

The year 7 boys also went on an Art Trip this term to the Tate Modern Art gallery. All the students
said it was a great first school trip!
Ajwad said “The Tate Modern is near the Thames Embankment and the
Millennium Bridge. I found the different types of art. Very exciting
from the Tate gardens there is a very good view of the River Thames
and the historic buildings along the river bank. I would recommend
everyone to spend a day experiencing all the fascinating and amazing
pieces of art in the Tate Modern.”
Faris said “My favourite piece of art was a sculpture made from wood. There were other strange
creations like skinny men and weird designs and stuff. My favourite painting was the circles, they had
loads of colours on them and it was an amazing design! There were amazing 3d sculptures on the
walls.”
Many thanks to Sr. Sarah and the Art Department.
Clubs Al Risalah have recently introduced a range of brand new exciting clubs for both the girls and boys. On
the girls side there is Art club for those creative and artistic artists and for the more outgoing and
sporty, the archery club lets them take the place of Katniss Everdeen. The boys are not left out as
they are training to be ninjas with their all new judo club.
A Scoring Sensation! Nick from Speedmark visited Al Risalah school this term to measure the speed of students’ football
shots. The students raised money for the schools prizes department by getting sponsored by friends
and family to kick a ball as hard as they possibly can into a giant inflatable goal with a speedometer!
The student (both girls and boys) thoroughly enjoyed this and would definitely describe it as a high-
light of the term!
“I found speed mark really fun. It was exciting because everyone loves football. We had three shots to see who in the class has the fastest shot. It was great fun and I really enjoyed it.” Alamin Chowdhury,
the fastest shot from year 9.
