Pastor Mary Anne’s Message …
We love hearing old stories. There is nothing like sitting around the living room or a campfire and hearing the old stories about the family. No matter how often they are repeated or even embellished, we never seem to tire of hearing them. Story-telling is an ancient and sacred art form. The early Israelites would tell the stories of their faith and ancestors in the faith around the fire. This telling became known as the “Oral Tradition” and many of the stories of the Old Testament were told orally before they were written down. Some would say this act of story-telling has become a lost art. We don’t memorize much of anything now. We are missing out on the benefits of memorization. Not only is it good brain exercise, it can help to strengthen our spiritual life. Did you know that some parts of scripture were written to be spoken? The Psalms and the entire gospel of Mark were first told orally, or in the Psalms case even sung! I challenge you to memorize some part of scripture this summer! Take a part of a chapter of Mark, a Psalm, or part of the Genesis narrative and memorize it! Become comfortable enough with the story of Ruth or a parable of Jesus that you can tell it orally, putting inflection and emphasis in it. And then tell the story! Share it with your family and friends!
In Christ,
Pastor Mary Anne

ther first made public on Oct. 31, 1517.

Concordia Community Pancake Breakfast
As part of our continuing mission with God in caring for His creation, WE are go-ing to serve a monthly FREE pancake breakfast for our community members in need of a good breakfast and fellowship. We will offer this breakfast on the first Saturday of each month from 8:30 – 10:30. In order to accomplish this we are asking everyone to help. We would like 2 or more families to sign up, as a team, and be our monthly sponsor. This means you would purchase the food needed and host the breakfast for the month you volun-teered to do. If making pancakes is not your thing on a Saturday morning…that’s OK. We will provide a cook, but we still ask you to help host the breakfast. If we all participate it means only making a commitment every couple years! A sign-up sheet for 2017 is posted in the West Narthex. A shopping list…less than $40…is available also. (Host still needed for December.) Please direct any questions to Cheryl Milbourne, Wayne Hoffman or Pastor Mary Anne.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL THANK YOU TO ALL!
Hola! - Our week of PASSPORT to PERU VBS, was awesome. About 20
children attended this cross-culture program and learned about
God's gifts of comfort, patience, peace and joy. The week was
made possible by volunteers that generously volunteered their time
to prepare, assist each evening and cleanup, along with donating
materials. Gracias! Thank you to all who donated items to Bible School. Returnable Items
can be picked up any day after Bible School ends.
Social Ministry will continue collecting for personal care kits by collect-
ing toothbrushes during the month of July and nail clippers in August.
In September, we will collect towels. That should give us what we
need to put kits together for the Ingathering.
Place items in the narthex.
Ushers!
On the WEST Narthex Bulletin Board, we have an Usher’s Signup Poster
for the whole year. Please sign up! We still need more people to sign
up for JULY and AUGUST.
Are you traveling this summer? Blessing for Travelers
If you will be traveling in the next week or so, we would like to pray for
you in your travels. Please complete the travel form found in the nar-
thex and place it in the offering plate or contact the office at 717-285
-4626 or [email protected]
Include your name with the dates you will be away and we will re-
member you by name in the prayers for that Sunday's worship!
