Greetings SAL, Our elections were held at our last

meeting, and we have a few new faces on

our board of directors. Joanne Castor will

be our Recording Secretary, Joan Langdon our

Corresponding Secretary, and Mary Kuhr is our 2nd VP

of Shows. I look forward to working with them this

upcoming year. Rita Goldner has accepted the AAA

representative for SAL and will be taking on those duties

after Judy Roll’s dedicated years of service. Additionally,

Irene Donato and Wil Coe will be handling Artwork of the

Month taking over for Linda Phillips. Please remember

to thank them for their service to SAL, because it is what

makes our Art League special, member involvement!

It’s summer again and the weather is turning into the

heat Arizona is famous for. When you go out of town to

escape, don’t forget to take a journal and some simple

supplies like Lew Lehrman talked about at our last

meeting to capture the moment, and remember it

forever.

Our presenter for July will be portrait artist Bill Lundquist,

for all you members who have been requesting demos.

He will be painting someone’s portrait at the July

meeting, maybe even yours!

See you next month, and keep creating!

.......SAL Membership Dues....... Join by June 30th Deadline to get into the Directory.....

........New directory will be distributed at the August General Meeting........

For those who wish to receive your monthly ART BEAT issue via US Mail, there will be a $5.00 charge for the year due to postage costs

Also, an annual fee of $10 to link your website to the SAL website for members only. Just an FYI, membership dues are NOT considered tax deductible as a charitable donation since there is an exchange of goods and/or services

AZ Art Alliance Fine Art Gallery

The Pavilions at Talking Stick – Indian Bend Rd. & the 101 Open Wednesday through Sunday, 10am – 5pm!

“Touch It, Feel It, Lovin’ Art” Ends July 1, 2012 Featuring a wide range of 2 and 3-dimensional fine art with a unique theme.

We have a special area in which visitors can actually touch and feel the artworks on display!

“Beat the Heat with Very Cool Art” July 5 – September 2, 2012 A fun theme for summer! What is Cool? Cool can be innovative, new, interesting, fresh, meaningful….but Cool can also refer to

temperature. As summer heats up, Art might transport us to some cool get-away spot!

Artists’ Reception: Saturday August 4th, 4 – 6pm

At the monthly board meeting for A.A.A., the group discussed at length the plans for a month long series of

events honoring Arizona veterans in November 2012. John Fontana said that half of the A.A.A. gallery will be

used for veterans’ art. Preference is being given to A.A.A. members, but if there is room, other Arizona veterans

will be included. A new Recon Committee has been established to work on this special exhibition and they are

looking for more volunteers. Anyone interested in assisting the new Recon Committee can contact Gary Bradley at

[email protected].

If you are a veteran and a S.A.L. member interested in showing art in this special exhibition, please email

Rita Goldner, the new A.A.A. rep for S.A.L. at [email protected] so we can get a feel for the numbers, and

then decide how many pieces per veteran. There won’t be a jury process, but the art must be appropriate for the

gallery, and doesn’t have to be military related.

During this special exhibit the juried artist show in the rest of the gallery will be themed: “America – What a

Great Country!” Of course, the vets can do artwork in that theme, if they desire.

Home Depot gave A.A.A. a $5000.00 grant to which will be used to remodel the back classroom area of the

gallery and to facilitate outreach programs for veterans and other groups.

Anyone who isn’t an A.A.A. member and would like to apply can find the jury form by accessing

www.azartalliance.com/juried.html and then clicking on “Download the information and application form here”.

The application fee has been raised to $15. The organization is also looking for a new president, please contact

Rita if you would like to apply.

The financial report and the gallery and gift shop sales figures are reported each month in the A.A.A.

newsletter. On the “Outreach Panel” of miniature paintings donated to raise money for outreach programs, 22

paintings have sold, bringing in $845. More paintings are needed for this very successful project.
