So the alex lemonade project was pretty awesome. I got an awesome tan. Even though it was really hot and long, in the end we did it to help cancer. This was a great experience to interact with society more through the mean of ver-bal communication. It’s also a great way to learn sweet talk to people (great way to sweet talk your teacher next years). You pretty much gain persuasion expe-riences which is necessary in life as well. An example of one is quotes from eric nguyen -”you ladies look thirsty, would you like some lemonade?”. We also gain confident for doing the silliest thing to attract people attention. As a groups, we work together very effectively. I per-sonally would like to thanks all those you contributed their time to help out even in the hottest, horrendous tem-perature. Beside “No pain, No gain” ^.^..! -Khuong Ho

Mission Arlington is all about helping our community. Flourishing our neighbor hood and making it into a happy place to be. Volunteers are the glue that holds our community together. They often bring a meaningful, positive impact to many others. Not only does volunteering make a difference and how good it feels to help others, but it is also a valuable way for us to get to know organizations in the community. Mission Arlington relies on the helps of many people. The ones that gave us kindly donations needed and people who gave us their precious time into packing the materials and delivering all the items. Without these volunteers, it is impossible to accomplish these challenging tasks. SUMMIT HIGH SCHOOL KEY CLUBBERS, thank you so much for reaching out to help the needs of our community!!! There is a part we can all play to make our world and community a better place to live, so again I thank you for your openness to making a difference in this place. Although our fantastic service doesn’t end here, so I hope to see you all again.

My favorite service project that we do would have to be Bingo Night, at the nursing home. We volunteer at the Mansfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center about once or twice a month. I would have to say, I definitly look forward to it! There are many reasons why myself and many other Key Club members like volunteering here. For example, who doesn’t like bingo, right? It is a fun way of volunteering! You might be wondering how playing bingo with older folks helps them. Well, it really does make the older folks happy to see younger faces in the nursing center once and a while. Some of the people there do not ever get visitors and are really lonely. It’s interesting to be there with them and social-ize and play bingo. By the look on some of their faces, you can tell that they love having us there! The old folks get pretty competitive with their bingo too! In fact, if they win, they get to win a couple of dollars, which makes them pretty happy! It’s just great to see their day be made from just having visitors and playing a simple game of bingo! I really enjoy spending time with those great people and hope to even go there more often. We could possibly even consider going there to just socialize and keep the people company. Our teens today can learn a lot from the elderly and so I think it is great to be with these people and have a great time.

QUILT WALK The annual Quilt Walk was held at the Mansfield Historical Museum and Heritage Center on June 15th and June 16th that ran from 10AM – 5PM both days. The Quilt Walk consisted of as many as 90 home-made quilts. All of the quilts that were presented during the show were elegantly handmade by talented quilters from throughout the com-munity who wanted to share their hard work with the outgoing public. During the Quilt Walk, there were people from throughout the Mansfield community, and even a few curious quilters came in from outside the city. Professional and amateur quilters would come in and look at all of the quilts others had given in. At the end of their “walk”, before they left, the viewers would choose one of their favorite quilt out of all the others for the “Viewer’s Choice” award. There was also a Raffle Ticket contest that was held for the quilt on the bottom left (of the collage). There were quilts that were presented on the top floor, and on the bottom floor of the museum. Volunteers were there to help operate the elevators for the elderly during the event. Volunteers in-cluded members of the Mansfield Historical Museum and Heritage Center and student volunteers from Summit Key Club and Legacy Key Club!Every one of these stunning quilts had to take hours and hours to make. What is truly amazing is how much time and effort people put in to create a beautiful keepsake that is to last forever.
