Our family would like to thank you, once again, for the warmth with which you have welcomed us into this communi-ty of faith. We are thrilled to be here and excited for the numerous ways in which we will engage in life and ministry together.

Just as we look forward to getting to know each of you, here’ s a brief glimpse of our family in order to help you to get to know us a little better. Beginning with the new boss of our family, Emmaus turned one on May 6 and is daily discovering new things. We anticipate that he’ ll take off walking any day now. He is such a rich blessing to us, and we know that he will likewise be a blessing to all of you.

Marisa has set-up her home office and has resumed working at full speed. She works as a project manager for Open Systems, an accounting software company located in Minnesota. We were very blessed that she was able to keep her job when we moved, as they didn’ t want to lose such a valuable employee. Marisa is delighted to be working from home so that she’ ll be able to see Emmaus more throughout the day. In addition to her vocational accomplishments, Marisa has many other gifts. She is an incredible mother and such a loving and supportive wife. Her background is in education, and she received her master’ s degree and has taught at both the high school and preschool levels for several years. Her heart is truly in working with children, and she plans to eventually become more involved with the children’ s ministry at Faith Community. She enjoys cooking, rollerblading, and has a real eye for decorating.

As for me, Pastor Erik, I’ m so excited to be on staff here at Faith Community. It's such a privilege being a part of this great staff, and to be working alongside two very gifted pastors. I have no doubt that this is a place that will help me to grow tremendously as a pastor, and I'm eager to bring my passions to this place. I'm excited to see all that God has in store for this congregation in this next chapter. I'm eager to bring my passions for teaching, preach-ing, and worship to this congregation, and to focus my attention especially on the young adults/young families among us. Aside from my passion for my faith and ministry, I'm especially passionate about my family. I absolute-ly cherish being a husband and a father, as I am so incredibly blessed by Marisa and Emmaus. Baseball is my favorite sport, and I hope to help resurrect the softball team here at Faith Community. In addition, Marisa and I are looking forward to taking advantage of the numerous outdoors opportunities that Colorado has to offer.

We are so happy to be here, and we're looking forward to getting settled in this community and making Longmont our home.

God's blessings, The Gravrocks

When Jim takes the stage, audiences know they're in for a treat before the first song is over. His infectious love of the guitar is evident in every arrangement, whether playing an original or covering one of his heroes, including the likes of Chet Atkins, Merle Travis and Jerry Reed.

Jim got his first guitar at the age of six. His ever evolving fingerstyle technique produces an exciting one-man-band sound which he applies to a wide range of songs from gospel to country, pop, classical and bluegrass. He rounds out his sound with alternate tunings and blistering banjo-style rolls that leave listeners looking around for "the other guitar player".

When Legacy was formed in 1981, we had no idea that it would evolve into an International Ministry, blessed by our Lord beyond anything we could have ever imagined. Some of the doors He has opened include: 5 tours of S.Korea, venues including: singing in the largest church in the world, the US Army, the S.Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff, churches, colleges, high schools, and FEBC radio stations, in tours throughout that beautiful country.  3 tours of Australia, including being blessed to sing in The Great Hall of The Parliament in Canberra, churches, schools, and other venues there. We have an open invitation to return there.  Venues in Canada  Toured Cuba, a blessed experience we will never forget or get over. Our pay: $0.00 Sales of CDs: $0.00 Yet, we would not trade that experi-ence in our Ministry for anything in the world. This was in connection with Dr. Jim Groen and Global Connections, Intl. Many of our dear friends and churches financed our tour there. Concerts in venues throughout the Central and Western USA, including churches, concert halls, banquets, sporting events, political events, fund raising events, business events, retreats, minis-try events, RV Resorts, Universities, and many more.

Atwood Shelter Helps Out Homeless Families in Longmont

The Emergency Family Assistance Association (EFAA) has been helping families in Boulder and Broomfield Counties since 1918 by providing emergency shelter, food, and other basic needs to those experiencing poverty in our communities. EFAA's Atwood Emergen-cy Shelter Program is located at 819 Atwood Street in Longmont. This emergency shelter consists of ten 1 & 2-bedroom furnished apartments which are used to house homeless families with children for up to two months, until they are able to get into permanent or transitional housing.

The Atwood Shelter provides each furnished apart-ment unit with a set amount of basic-need items such as paper products, cleaning supplies and personal care items. Since the Atwood Shelter is one of our Outreach Ministry Partners, FC Outreach would like to further support them by helping to provide these items on a monthly basis. In order to do this, we need the help and support of the congregation.

We are first in need of a volunteer who would be in-terested in being the liaison between FC and the At-wood Shelter. In addition, we need some "shoppers" who will shop and deliver these basic-needs items on a given month to the Atwood Shelter. A list of items needed will be provided and the FC Outreach will reimburse for the cost of these items. If you are interested in being a liaison and/or a "shopper" for the Atwood Shelter, please contact Tami Musfeldt at

FC Habitat Build Day – July 20 Faith Community brings together 12 or more individuals from the Faith family to spend the day on building a home for a de-serving family. To sign up, contact Diana Emerson, Habitat Built Volunteer Coordinator, at 303-946-5190 or e-mail her at [email protected]; or you can find the sign-up sheet on the Habitat bulletin board in the hallway by the front office. Drinks and lunch are provided to those who volunteer. If you would like to help provide the lunch, please contact Konni Keuter at

Do you have a day to give? 24 hours to change the life of a child?

Let me explain! Generally looking at a school calendar, KIDS HOPE USA mentors meet with children from mid-September to mid-May for one hour each week. Counting weeks, this gives us roughly 30 weeks of mentor-ing, or 30 hours. NOW we eliminate the hours there is no mentoring…..

2. 5 weeks for Christmas vacation

1 week for Thanksgiving break

1 week for spring break

Other holidays

Time off for parent/teacher conferences

TCAP testing days

Snow days

Class parties and/or Field trips

Occasional times your child is absent

Suddenly, the year-long commitment doesn’t look like too much! The time you give, although countless & precious to a child, isn’t as overwhelming as it first appears. One hour, one child, approximately one day in your life, to change a life. Matthew 18:5 says, “Whoever welcomes a child in my name, wel-comes me.” Are you interested in becoming a Kids Hope mentor? If so, con-tact LaRae at 303-772-8385 or [email protected]. I would love to talk to you about it!!

STEPHEN MINISTRY

Stephen Ministers are available to provide personal and confidential care in one-on-one, distinctly Christian relationships. If you or someone you know is going through a tough time, we are here to help. Please contact either Karla Irvin or Janet Streed, or call the church office to learn more.

At Faith Community we have a very active Stephen Ministry. In addition to the one-on-one personal rela-tionships to those with specific hurts, Stephen Ministers also serve each week during worship as commun-ion blessers, bring communion to shut-ins and nursing homes, as well as do hospital visitation and make phone calls to people on the prayer chain.

Senior Caring Ministry Bring your lunch and join us in Room 232 on the 4th Monday of each month at 11:00am to learn how to care for the care giver, about resources available to seniors in our communi-ty, and find out how you can help to reach out to others! Pastor’s Perspective, Continued On Vacation Bible School…This annual event for children ages 3 through 5th grade will take place at the church July 8-12 from 9:00-11:30am. The theme for this year is “Jungle Jaunt,” and the theme verse is Psalm 145:1-2, which reads, “I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever. Every day I will praise you and extol your name for ever and ever.” This will be the first year that VBS will run for five days, and we anticipate that the children will be richly blessed by this weeklong opportunity to grow in their faith. On our Summer Concert Series…The Worship and Arts Committee is sponsoring several opportunities this summer to experience fantastic music here at Faith Community. We have already been blessed by the Longmont Chorale “Send off” Concert in June, and this month we’ll be blessed by the return of the Legacy Quartet, who will be performing on Sun-day, July 14 at 7:00pm. There will also be two additional con-certs in early August featuring country/bluegrass-style music. All concerts will be held in the sanctuary, and free-will dona-tions will be accepted. We hope you will join us for these wonderful musical events, which provide great opportunities to invite your non-Christian friends to church. Your Partner in Ministry, Pastor Erik
