In the first reading, we find the words of the prophet proclaiming the Messiah who is “poor and humble”. It appears to be the words uttered to describe Jesus, who is to come. The second reading can also be connected to this because it declares of the Spirit. The Spirit can be received only by the poor, in the sense those who are “humble in heart”. The Gospel shows Jesus as “gentle and humble” that is, on the side of the poor and the oppressed. Jesus thanks his Father for hiding the divine wisdom from the wise and the intelligent and revealing it to the mere children. This is a clear indication that only the humble are good listeners. Those who are learned and proud are a voice unto themselves. This does not mean that God purposely ignores the learned or the powerful, but God specially care for the poor. The last part of the Gospel is about the oppression that the simple and the poor people suffer at the hands of the ‘wise and intelligent’. The scribes and the Pharisees have set up a very complicated religion, made up of detailed rules impossible to observe, a heavy yoke that overburdens everyone. It is to the poor ones, oppressed by the fear of God and despised by their intellectual and religious leaders that Jesus speaks of courage and strength that is given by the Lord. proclamando al Mesías que es "pobre y humilde". Parece ser las
palabras pronunciadas para describir a Jesús, que está por venir. La
segunda lectura también puede estar conectada a esto porque declara
del Espíritu. El Espíritu sólo puede ser recibido por los pobres, en
el sentido de aquellos que son "humildes de corazón". El Evangelio
muestra a Jesús como "gentil y humilde" es decir, del lado de los
pobres y de los oprimidos. Jesús agradece a su Padre por ocultar la
sabiduría divina de los sabios y los inteligentes y revelarla a los
meros hijos. Esta es una clara indicación de que sólo los humildes
son buenos oyentes. Aquellos que son aprendidos y orgullosos son
una voz para sí mismos. Esto no significa que Dios ignore
deliberadamente a los eruditos o a los poderosos, pero Dios se
preocupa especialmente por los pobres. La última parte del
Evangelio trata sobre la opresión que sufren los hombres sencillos y
pobres a manos de los "sabios e inteligentes". Los Escribas y los
Fariseos han establecido una religión muy complicada, compuesta
por reglas detalladas imposibles de observar, un pesado yugo que
sobrecarga a todos. Es a los pobres, oprimidos por el temor de Dios
y despreciados por sus líderes intelectuales y religiosos, a los que
Jesús habla de valor y fuerza que da el Señor.

We are a small non-profit, foreign-exchange student
organization looking for caring host families in your

students from Mexico and Germany who would like to
come for the 2020-2021 school year and are waiting for
their match with a volunteer host family. In these
uncertain times, I do believe that remaining open to the
rest of the world and sharing the life of an American host
family as well as going to school contributes to a better

for both the student and the host family. American

Keeping the Promise Alive Renewal Sessions
9:00 AM Saturday, July 11, 2020 Renewal session are only available to those that previously
completed a “Protecting God’s Children” Virtus session. You
can also renew by attending a “Protecting God’s Children”
session if you prefer. Anyone, 18 years or older, that is involved in a church
ministry, or takes part in a church organization, must have a
current Safe Environment certificate. Two Virtus “Keeping the Promise Alive” renewal sessions are
9:00 AM Saturday July 11, 2020 in St Thomas the Apostle
Education Building. One session is in English, one is in
Spanish. (Be on time, late arrivals will not receive credit. No
children, bring water, wear face covering) To enroll, 1) key
in this link https://fwdioc.org/safeenvironment, 2) Select the
button for “Training Sessions (Adult & Teen)”, and 3)
Complete the online enrollment process for the session that
you wish to attend. Be sure to select the “Renewal -
