JUNE 28 11:00am Live Stream

Ancient Paths Through New Territory

John 14:5-14

From Our Pastor. . . Re-Entry Date Set for Sunday, July 5 – Our Council of Deacons appointed a Re-Entry Team several weeks ago to examine the best time and way for us to resume in-person attendance of worship and other services/activities of our church. Over the last several weeks, the Re-Entry Team has engaged in online seminars, monitored guidelines from our Virginia Commonwealth and local governmental authorities, reviewed best practices from the CDC and Virginia Department of Health regarding gathering in a safe way, and listened to you through a congregational survey. After a significant amount of prayer and upon hearing the report of the Re-Entry Team, the consensus of our Council of Deacons is that we begin in-person worship at ABC on Sunday, July 5 at 11:00 am. We encourage you to make the best choice for your family and situation as you consider attending in person or continuing to worship via live-stream at https://www.abingdonbaptist.org/live-stream/. Since Sunday, March 15, we have been grateful for the ability to worship together online. We encourage you to continue to attend online if you or a family member does not feel well or if you are just not yet ready to attend church in-person. We appreciate and give thanks for our church staff, instrumentalists, singers, media team, and other leaders and participants who provide a high quality live-streaming worship service each week. Know that you are part of the Abingdon Baptist Church family no matter whether you choose to attend in-person or online. Abingdon Baptist Church Live-Stream is also a great option if you want to invite a friend to join you. You can join us every Sunday at 11:00am ET directly via our church website at https://www.abingdonbaptist.org/live-stream/ to experience worship, teaching, and the community of your church family. Our worship service also streams on Facebook, Vimeo, and YouTube. You can also join in on ZOOM Bible study groups on Sunday mornings at 9:45am ET by following one of the links provided at https://www.abingdonbaptist.org/zoom-connections/. There are also links at that location ZOOM KidZ with Miss Carrie on Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm. Even if you begin to attend worship in-person, please continue to be engaged in these online offerings during the week. HopeTree Walk-a-Thon – Our church supports the ministries of HopeTree Family Services with space in our facility and support in our budget. You can add to that support by participating in their Virtual Walk for Hope by doing some physical activity (e.g., walking, running, hiking, biking, tread-milling, gardening, dancing, playing with family or friends) wherever you are on Saturday, July 11 between 8am and noon as part of their Virtual Walk-a-Thon. You can register at https://hopetreefswalkforhope.wufoo.com/forms/zyfu0ht1sart3n/ or by contacting Chas Colley at (540) 389-2112. Any donations raised should be sent directly to HopeTree at PO Box 849, Salem, VA 24153. Anyone raising at least $35 will get a t-shirt.

Continued from Pastor Bill...

DIAL-IN WORSHIP: Several of our members are listening in each Sunday. Facebook offers a dial in option for our members without internet service at home. Use your telephone to dial in and hear the service “live” each week. Dial in Number: (888) 958-7272, then enter the Access Code: #. The access code # changes each week. To receive the correct access code # every Sunday, call the office and ask to be put on the FB Dial-in list. We will send a text message to your cell phone on Sunday (around 10:45am) with the access code for that day. I hope each of you are joining us for worship as we Live Stream each week. This past Sunday we expanded our reach on three platforms. The number of viewers grows every week on all three platforms. We do not want our members missing out. The easiest way to get the worship service is through our website (no logins required): https://www.abingdonbaptist.org/live-stream/ You can find us on Vimeo: https://vimeo.com/event/83170 You can find us on the Abingdon Baptist Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/abingdonbaptistchurch/

A couple folks have volunteered. We still NEED more help! If you have an interest in joining our Tech Team we would love to hear from you. We are at the phase where we must develop some depth to our bench: Audio, Presentation Slides, Camera & Live Streaming. Training is available. Perhaps God is calling you to help serve on our Tech Team as we continue to improve our worship broadcast each week. I would welcome the chance to talk with you. Join us Sunday, Live Streaming!

I plan to run/walk on the Creeper Trail starting at Watauga Station at 8am on Saturday, July 11. I hope to make at least the 8 miles to Alvarado. If you would like to donate $/mile or join me on the journey, please e-mail or call me with your donation or to let me know you will join me. All money raised will help support HopeTree. Let’s support this important ministry together and get some exercise as a bonus! Thanks Giving Project – Earlier this month we delivered a basket to the Mel Leaman Free

Clinic at Emory and Henry College in Marion. Our Saundra Farmer, who serves as the Director of the RN-BSN Nursing Program and the Director of the Interprofessional Clinical Simulation Lab at Emory and Henry, delivered the basket. This week we also delivered baskets to the grocery workers at Food Lion and the two Food Country stores in Abingdon. As our Thanks Giving Project comes to a close this

week, we thank everyone who has donated items, delivered baskets, and prayed for our essential workers. We continue to pray for all of our workers and give thanks for their good work and service in our community.
