Prayer and Thanksgiving on:

Tuesdays Wednesdays

1:00-2:00 PM 6:00-6:30 AM

Chapel, Rm 5 Sanctuary

You are invited to join in one of the prayer groups above. You may pray silently or aloud. If you can’t make it to a prayer group, please be diligent in your private pray-ers for our country, for global peace, for a way to end the gun violence that has be-come an every day occurrence...pray for those who are so full of anger or are plagued by mental illness that they don’t have other ways to cope but to take it out on others. Pray that they may come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and be filled with LOVE instead of hatred in times of distress. Give them the HOPE that we know...because we have been promised eternal life with Him! Hallelujah!

The JOY CLUB is a senior-age fellowship group that enjoys getting together to laugh, talk and eat in different types of venues; some at church and others out in the community.

Mark your calendar: 7/14/17—Fellowship/Game Night—6:00 p.m.—Family Life Center (bring a dish to share) If you have ideas for activities that you think the Joy Club would enjoy, come be a part of the planning group...contact Rich Corey ([email protected]) or myself, Janie Murrell ([email protected])

WE CARE

The weather kept a few friends away from the learn-to-knit workshop as part of our Creative Corner in June. However, don’t distress, individual lessons are available for the asking. Nancy Nowlan, Connie Yow, Sue Corey and Janie Murrell will be glad to teach you. Just reach out and call any one of us. We were honored to be a part of the Navy-Marine Corp Relief Society volunteer luncheon. More than 20 baby blankets were given to this group for their new parents program from WE CARE. We will resume our monthly meetings on September 12, 2017 at 10:00am in the FLC. Our hands serve Christ Janie Murrell

Be sure to mark our Fall Craft/Vendor Fair on Saturday, November 4th, on your

calendar, because we will have some of these crafts on sale for your personal

use or for Christmas gifts!

We still need an instructor for August. If you have a craft you would like to share,

please contact Athena Rhodes ([email protected] or Sheila Smith

([email protected]) for more information. THINK CHRISTMAS...we need

craft items that might sell well at our Craft booth in November! They could even

be something that would appeal to children.

JULY PAINT NIGHT

For July, by request, our own artist-in-residence, Athena Rhodes will offer another Paint

Nite on Tuesday, July 25th from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in Rm. 7 (main building). Class size is

limited, so sign up early if you want a spot. Cost: $12. Watch for registration forms in the

bulletins with a picture of the subject we will paint!

Sign up on the bulletin inserts or email [email protected] or

[email protected] to let us know you plan to attend.

WHAT ARE PASTOR DAVID AND BARBARA JIMENEZ UP TO?

For those who may have come to Ebenezer more recently, Pastor David was hired to reach out to the Latino/Hispanic community and establish a weekly worship service. Pastor David reached out to them in the workplace and in their homes and was able to establish a small congrega-tion, but sadly most worked long and erratic hours and were often transient, so we were unable to establish a permanent congregation. The following comes in part from Pastor (ret.) Carl LeMon’s correspondence with them:

As you may or may not know, Pastor David & Barbara Jimenez have been living in Germany for

about 2 years now.

Thankfully, we are still able to stay in touch through Facebook, by visiting (Cheryl & Vernon

Lee), and some actually write letters to them (Pastor Carl).

Carl asked me to share some tidbits of information that might be of interest to those of you

who remember David & Barbara.

Germany is a very difficult country to get adjusted to not only due to the language but also

the culture and people. Germans are exceedingly well prepared and their system of educa-

tion is different and the numbers of jobs are limited because of the training required. Even

a job in a bakery requires 3 years of training!

Thankfully God opened the doors for David to obtain a contract to translate a book by his

supervisor and consequently another to work at the University to establish an international

office for their theological department. “Although it is a part-time position, it is paid at a

standardized doctoral level, and hence provides enough”.

Barbara is currently learning advanced level German which is a requirement in order for her

to be able to get a job.

Together they are serving an Hispanic congregation…David preaching and Barbara singing!

David says his studies are going slow, since in Germany everything takes much time as does

his studies and meetings. Therefore, he doesn’t have formal classes, only research.

They are waiting for God to reveal his plans for them in the ministerial field and are putting

their trust in Him for his timing and assistance.

“Quite frequently we reminisce over our time in Virginia – it was the most wonderful time

in our married life. Thank you for making it possible for Barbara and me! We would like to

return there, yet we are waiting for God’s plans and directions in the meantime.”

If you would like to send them a letter, their address is: David & Barbara Jimenez AlbanusstraBe 44 Mainz-Bretzenheim 55128 Rheinland-Pfalz, Deutschland Germany

21 Youth and 7 adults will be leaving on their Mission Trip to Cedar Grove, West Virginia.

On Sunday, July 9, Pastor Won will commission us to go in the name of Jesus and Ebenezer Church.

We will leave at 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 16th from the church parking lot.

Anyone who would like to see us off is WELCOME to do so. Otherwise, we just ask for your continued prayers as we travel, work, and play all in the name of Jesus and as Ebenezer’s hands, feet, and voice to those we encounter along the way.

THANK YOU to those who have supported us with the funds needed to make this trip possible and lighten the financial burden on many families.

Once we return, we will make plans for our Celebration Dinner and plan to share some highlights from our trip.

This is our largest group ever and we are so blessed to have so many youth and adults who want to be a part of this adventure. Please pray that everyone will stay healthy and that special bonds will be made not only within our group, but with others in our work teams and with those we are helping.

This is your Youth Mission Team: Please pray for them daily
