St. Ann’s Parish 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time July 31, 2016

While I am away on vacation I hope you enjoy these articles on a variety of topics.

From time to time we hear of parishioners who are in the hospital or are homebound and can no longer

attend Mass and would like to have a priest visit them. We will always be happy to come visit any

hospitalized or homebound parishioner. All you need to do is call the rectory and ask for a priest and we will

be there. If it is an emergency, we will drop whatever we are doing and come out at once, even in the early

hours of the morning. This is precisely why a priest is on duty 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. If it is not an

emergency, we will come as soon as possible or we will schedule an appointment so we can come when there

will be someone else present, especially for homebound parishioners.

Unfortunately, from time to time we hear that someone needed our services but no one called us.

Perhaps they assumed someone had, or that somehow we knew they were in the hospital. We won’t know to

visit unless you inform us that you or a loved one needs us. The hospitals all have pastoral care teams, so if

you have no family or friends to call for you, ask the nurse to have a pastoral care team member come to visit

you. Just ask them to call St. Ann’s and ask for a priest, and we’ll take care of you. Please don’t feel you are

burdening us because we are very busy. Yes, we are busy, but you are our prime concern, and when you need

a priest for the sacraments or an extraordinary minister to bring you Holy Communion, your needs become

our top priority and will always be met. I promise! Do not hesitate to call us if you need our help!

Special Reminder

With the summer now upon us, we very kindly remind all

our parishioners to remember to dress for Mass in clothing

that respects the sacred dignity of our Eucharistic

celebration. By taking the time to change and wear clothing

different from what we wear to a ballgame or the

supermarket, we remind ourselves that we’re gathering on

Sunday for something more important, namely, to offer the

unbloody sacrifice of Jesus on Calvary for the forgiveness

of our sins. Kindly refrain from wearing shorts, tank tops

bare midriffs, flip-flops, bathing suits and other beach

clothing, T-shirts with inappropriate images or sayings, or

any similar apparel. This will keep our Masses solemn and

dignified.

Adoption - Children in China need homes. More

boys available than girls. Older parents and single
