them. This week during your prayer time, please pray for Sam and
Joanna Choi.
COMMUNITY FOOD PANTRY The Community Food Pantry continues to give out bags every
Thursday with nutritious staples to individuals and families who live in
Winn Parish. They accomplish this task through the work of volunteers
from all over our parish. They operate solely through gifts and
donations from churches, individuals, businesses, and clubs – without
any government funds. Along with food items, they now offer eggs
donated every week from a local business, school uniforms, Christian
books and devotionals, New Testaments, homemade jellies and jams,
an opportunity to pray with a minister, and enhanced choices on the
“Lagniappe” table. Thank you for keeping this local ministry alive.

A Note from Pastor Keyes
Like any grandparents, Linda and I love it when our grandchildren visit. It
is a time to establish some memories and create some traditions. Our three
youngest, a seven-year-old and two six-year-olds, enjoy a “creature” hunt.
We walk around outside and look for lizards, worms, spiders, etc.
Sometimes the creatures don’t cooperate so I have to help. I turn over
boards or chunks of wood that have been in place for a good while. There
is a very predictable flurry of activity as the light invades the dark places
these creatures call home. Their world of comfort has been disturbed.
They enjoy the darkness and become frantic and concerned when it
changes.
We are in disturbing times, and believers naturally scurry to find answers
and peace in these difficult times. Let me remind you that not only is the
church a place of peace and shelter for God’s people, it is called on at
times to be a disturbing force. Our rock, our foundation as a church is
Jesus. He “gave Himself for the church”. In Matthew 10:34-35 He said
“do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I didn’t
come to bring peace but a sword”. He acknowledged that His presence
and plan would not be well received by many. Despite this fact, He never
has wavered in the implementation of His plan.
Jesus, by His own claims, is the “light of the world”. The church is
mandated to take that light to the world of darkness. The church cannot be
the church and get along with everyone. The church cannot be the church
and be popular. The church cannot be the church and allow everyone in,
regardless of what they believe. The church is not an all-inclusive group.
It is a body of spirit filled believers challenged to shine the light of Christ
on a sin cursed world. Just like turning over a board on the ground, this
creates a flurry of activity in the darkness of sin.
What a great time to be a believer and belong to the living church of
Jesus. We have the challenge of sharing comfort and hope to our friends
and neighbors and also shine the light of Jesus to a lost world. God has
turned over a board and we have work to do.
See you in church Sunday,
YOUTH NEWS Oneeighty
We will resume oneeighty on August 5th
.
Camp Harris- The Rock Weekend
On August 6th-8th our youth group will be going to Camp Harris in
Minden, Louisiana for "The Rock Weekend". This will be a
fantastic opportunity for our youth to get away from the anxieties
of this summer and focus on the rock that is Jesus Christ. This will
be a wonderful event with games, worship, and great speakers. Our
guest speaker for this event is James Hester from Social Springs
Baptist Church. Our band will be Esperanza led by Caleb Whitten.
Please contact one of our youth workers if you are interested in
attending! The cost for the camp is $25 per student.

Kids on Mission & Mission Friends Until we are able to meet for Kids on Mission and Sunday School,
we will provide weekly home resources for you and your family
through our FBC KIDS Online. Thanks to our curriculum publishers,
you and your family can have access to the same great content taught
in our classes each week at home. These resources are available to all
in our community looking for resources to lead their children in Bible
Study from toddlers - 6th grade.
Tithing During this unusual time in our church we want to share with you the
options for continuing your faithful practice of tithing and giving to
God’s work through our church.
Many of you are already connected to online giving and continue to use
that option. If you are not currently connected to that option and need
help doing that please contact the office.
You may choose to mail your contribution to FBC, P.O. Box 230,
Winnfield, LA. 71483 or place your tithe in the offering plates available
on Sunday mornings.

Pastor Search Committee Update These are exciting times as our search is now nearing its end! The
Lord has brought us together with true men of God who have been
blessed in the ministry of helping others ‘find and follow Jesus.’ I
look forward to sharing with you our progress. We need your
prayers to ask for God’s blessings on the final processes in our
search. I also ask your continued prayers for our committee and
the man who will be our next pastor. Be on the lookout for more
