Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time/ Décimo sexto Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario
I am so proud to announce the opening of Religious Education for children ages 4 - 13 here at St. Peter’s Parish. The Catechists and I are in the process of creating two sacred spaces, called atriums, for our children. They will be located in the newly painted and carpe-ted basement of the Parish Office. We
will be having an Open House in September for the Level 1 atrium (for children ages 4 - 7). Our Level 2 atrium (for children ages 8 - 9) will open in February, 2020. We are asking for a minimum two year commitment if you are re-gistering your child for the Good Shepherd program. For older children, ages 10 - 13, we are offering traditional sacramental preparation. These children will attend a two year catechesis, with their First Communion being celebra-ted at the end of the second year.
Religious Education will be on Sundays, from 10:30 am to 11:45 am. The cost is $50 per child (if you have more than two children being registered, the third child is free). We will be starting on Sunday, October 6th at 10:30 am. Families are required to attend Mass together and parents will attend religious education at the same time as their child(ren). To register, please come to the Parish Office on Tuesday - Thursday, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Me siento muy orgullosa de anunciar la apertura de nues-tro programa de Educación Religiosa en nuestra parro-quia, que esta dirigido a niños de 4 a 13 años de edad. Es-tamos trabajando en la preparación de dos atrios, los mis-mos que serán usados por nuestros niños. Estos espacios serán ubicados en el remodelado sótano de nuestra oficina parroquial. Asimismo, tendremos un Open House en el mes de setiembre para el nivel 1 (niños de 4 a 7 años) y el nivel 2 (niños de 8 y 9 años) comenzará el mes de febrero del 2020. Si desea registrar a su niño en el programa de la Catequesis del Buen Pastor, le solicitamos un compromiso mínimo de dos años. Para niños entre edades de 10 a 13 años, ofreceremos la preparación sacramental tradicional. Estos niños asistirán a las clases de catequesis por dos años, y su Primera Co-munión se celebrará al final del segundo año. Las clases se iniciaran el Domingo 6 de octubre en el ho-rario de 10:30 am hasta las 11: 45 am. Las clases se desa-rrollaran todos los domingos en el mismo horario y tendrá un costo de $50 por cada niño y si tiene mas de dos niños en el pro-grama, el tercer niño podrá ser registrado sin ningún costo. Se re-quiere que las familias asistan a misa y asimismo que los padres asistan a las clases junto con sus hijos. Para registrarse acérquese a nues-tra oficina parroquial de Martes a Jueves desde las 9 am hasta las 5 pm.

ALTENHOFEN MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
The 26th Annual St. Vincent de Paul/Jim Altenhofen Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, August 16th, at Glendoveer Golf Course, 14015 NE Glisan St., Portland, OR. Proceeds will go toward the Port-land Council’s Emergency Services Program—helping the needy with rent and/or utility assistance, and food boxes. Entry fee of $100 includes 18 holes of golf with cart, box lunch, BBQ dinner, prizes and more. Shotgun start at 12:30. Have fun and help others! taught that it is only in prayer that we can give selfless lov-ing service to those who are poor.
This week, please say a special prayer each day for the poor and forgotten in our parish.
This week you can also “treat the poor with mercy” by putting a gift in the St. Vincent de Paul Poor Box.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN AGES 4 - 13
Registration is open for the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS). CGS helps the child come closer to God by himself/herself. CGS is built on the foundation of the Bible and Liturgy. All presentations are based on Scripture. Nothing is added, nothing removed. Cate-chists do not explain the great mysteries of the Scriptures, rather the child and the catechist are co-learners together searching for God. The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program requires a mini-mum 2-year attendance commitment. We are blessed to be able to offer CGS in English, Spanish and ASL.

Level 1 for children ages 4 to 6, starting October 6, 2019.
Level 2 for children ages 7 to 9, starting in February, 2020
We are also offering a two-year Sacramental Preparation catechism for children aged 10 -13 that is not part of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.
This will start on October 6th, 2019. The registration fee is $50, payable by cash or check written to St. Peter Catholic Church.
EDUCACIÓN RELIGIOSA PARA NIÑOS DE 4 A 13 AÑOS.
Ya están abiertas las inscripciones para la Catequesis del Buen Pastor. Este programa busca ayudar al niño a acercarse a Dios por sí mismo, y está construido sobre los cimientos de la Biblia y la litur-gia. Todas las presentaciones están basadas en las Escrituras, nada se añade o elimina. Los catequistas no se encargarán de explicar los misterios de las Escrituras, sino por el contrario, el niño y el catequista serán compañeros de aprendizaje, en su busca de cono-cer más a Dios. El programa de Catequesis del Buen Pastor requiere un compromiso mínimo de asistencia de 2 años. Gracias a Dios, estamos preparados para ofrecer este programa en inglés, español y ASL.

La cuota de inscripción es de $ 50, podrá pagarse en efectivo o cheque a nombre de La Iglesia Católica de San Pedro.
