The busy moving season is here at Fort Leavenworth Frontier Heritage Communities (FLFHC) as the CGSC class has graduated and the incoming class is on its way. This is the time of year where we bid farewell to a lot of families, and welcome in as many more.
To the families leaving Fort Leavenworth and moving on to their next duty station, the staff here at the housing office wishes you safe travels and the best of luck! We have enjoyed having you here and hope you have enjoyed your stay.
Incoming families, welcome to Fort Leavenworth — the best hometown in the Army!
Some of the amenities offered through FLFHC are the use of a fitness center, a beautiful Community Room available by reservation for events and activities and a number of free monthly resident events.
Also available to Fort Leavenworth residents is the benefit of a free bulk item pick-up every Monday. This is the day when any waste items may be disposed of with minimal limitations. Bulk items are considered when they are up to a 2-man carry weighing no more than 150 pounds. Any such item may be placed curbside.
In addition there are several large dumpsters in the parking area near Hancock gate for your use and convenience through the beginning of August. Please make sure that all trash left at the site be fully contained inside one of the dumpsters.

▪ To prevent mildew in your
refrigerator, wipe with a 50/50 water-vinegar solution.
▪ To brighten white laundry (and reduce lime scale in your washer), add one-half cup to the rinse cycle. If you’re unable to add during the wash cycle, you may add at the same time as your de-tergent.
▪ Make windows sparkle. Simply clean windows with a 50/50 water-vinegar solution.
Fort Leavenworth History
The Tenth Cavalry, one of the first all-black regiments in the regular U.S. Army, was formed on 21 September 1866 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. In western Kansas, the Kiowa encountered the soldiers as valiant opponents and termed them the “Buffalo Soldiers.” These famous warriors left Fort Leavenworth to win repeated honors on the Plains and in the West. Pest Control Pest control is available to all of our residents. If you are having a pest issue, contact the maintenance department for a scheduled appointment.
Bulk Pickup Bulk Pickup is available every Monday. Please remember to place your bulk items by the curb no later than 7:00 a.m. to ensure that those items get picked up.
Household Hazardous
Waste Disposal & Re-use
The Household Hazardous Waste Collection Point (HHWC):
Environmental Division, Bldg. 80; 684-8980; 0700-1500 M-F.
All items are free to drop off and pickup with a simple
signature on the sign-in sheet. This is the place for almost
everything that is prohibited to transport during your PCS. If
you are just arriving, instead of buying everything new
come by and see if those that just PCS'd left behind
something that you can use. Example of items taken and
re-issued: Anti-freeze, Oil, Oil/Gas Mixtures, Oil Filters, Paint,
Stripper, Thinner, Spray Paint, Used Batteries (Lead-Acid,
NiCad, Alkaline, etc.), Cleansers, Furniture Polish and Car
Wax.
Recycling Services The recycling collection point is located at 740 W. Warehouse Rd. (adjacent to the DB Sales Store). There are containers for paper (shredded and whole), glass, cardboard, plastics and aluminum cans. There are also 35 yellow dumpsters scattered throughout post that accept paper, plastics and cans. Please feel free to drop off your recycling at any of these locations.
Air Conditioning System
Have your Air-Conditioning system checked out prior to seasonal use. Replace the air filter (provided at the maintenance office for pickup), and keep pets away and clean debris from the condenser outside. Please wash off your outside condensers when they look dirty.
Maintenance Messages Barren Outdoor Solutions Mowing Schedule
Barren Outdoor Solutions (BOS) is currently performing weekly yard maintenance on the following schedule. Ensure that all toys, patio furniture,
garden hoses and other items that might impede BOS from the maintenance of your yard are put away on your scheduled mowing day. We ask
your assistance in making the mowing process successful by removing personal belongings from the grass area of your yard each mow day.
Please remember that in the event of inclement weather, mowing will be delayed by one day. For all residents with fenced backyards we ask that
you mow and otherwise maintain the yard inside your fence. According to section 4.3 of the Resident Guidelines and Community
Handbook~ “Standard landscaping services consisting of mowing, edging, and leaf removal will be provided by an FLFHC Contractor on a
designated schedule in family housing common areas and in the front yards of all residences in order to keep consistency throughout the
community. Residents are asked to clear all personal items from the mowing area that FLFHC maintains. If personal items are not removed,
FLFHC and its Contractors are not responsible for damages or failure to mow that area. Residents are responsible for maintaining all plant/shrub
beds and fenced backyard areas to FLFHC specifications for mowing, edging, watering and trimming. Standard acceptable grass height is 3-4
inches." We ask for your cooperation to keep our housing areas looking their best.
Bulk Trash Bins
Bulk trash dumpsters are located by the Hancock Gate are available for residents' use. Please no hazardous waste or toxic materials.

Back To School! Stop by the housing office between Monday, July 15th and Friday, August 2nd to enter your child for a chance to win a - - filled with all kinds of goodies. Two winners will be drawn Friday, August 3rd!
FLFHC Offices, including the Self Help Store, will be closed
Thursday, July 4th in observance of
Independence Day. We will re-open for normal
business hours at 7:30 a.m. on Friday, July 5th.

during this time please call our 24-hour
Maintenance Line at 913-651-3838.
July 4th, 2019 6:00 p.m. Fort Leavenworth’s Merritt Lake
All visitors to Fort Leavenworth’s 4th of July celebration may enter
through the main gate at Grant Avenue beginning at 5 p.m. Security
checks will be conducted there. Drivers must have a valid license,
registration and proof of insurance and all passengers must have a
driver’s license or other form of government photo ID.
The Fort Leavenworth Visitors Center or VCC is closed on July 4.
Sherman, Hancock and Grant gates will be open for cars exiting post
after the fireworks show. Guests are reminded that Fort Leavenworth is
a federal reservation and weapons are not allowed. Pets are not
permitted at the event.
