SAN JOAQUIN RIVER VIADUCTNORTH FRESNO

While crews continue to wait for water levels to go down at the San Joaquin River, a significant amount of work is taking place on the pergola structure in north Fresno. Steel support structures, also called falsework, have been assembled to support the deck of the pergola that will allow high-speed rail to cross over Union Pacific Railroad tracks. CEDAR VIADUCT|SOUTH FRESNO

Construction continues on the Cedar Viaduct between North and Cedar avenues. The next section of the viaduct deck can now be seen taking shape alongside State Route 99. Flared pier caps are being added to the columns north of the deck, and crews are in-stalling reinforcing steel bars in preparation for the next concrete pours. The viaduct will carry high-speed trains over the highway and connect to the Muscat Avenue Viaduct further to the southwest.

FRESNO RIVER VIADUCT| MADERA COUNTY

Much of the work on the Fresno River Viaduct has been complet-ed. The 1,600-foot structure that crosses the Fresno River and State Route 145 outside the City of Madera still has some final concrete work left to complete, but crews are on site working to get it wrapped up over the next few weeks.

FRESNO TRENCH & STATE ROUTE 180 PASSAGEWAY|FRESNO

Pre-cast concrete deck panels have been laid to form the deck of a temporary bridge on State Route 180 (SR 180) over what will become the Fresno Trench. When the temporary bridge is com-plete, SR 180 traffic will be shifted to the bridge so work can be-gin in the median. Further north, drilling rigs will bore foundations for the continuation of the trench barrier walls that will separate high-speed trains from the adjacent freight trains. The trench will take high-speed trains under a rail spur, a canal, and the highway about 40 feet below ground level.

AVENUE 8 OVERPASS |MADERA COUNTY

Drilling continues for the bridge support piers at Avenue 8 in Madera County. Once the abutments have been constructed, girders will be set to span the distance between the two walls. The Avenue 8 overcrossing east of State Route 99 will be a single span bridge allowing traffic to cross over the high-speed train.

TUOLUMNE STREET BRIDGE|FRESNO

Workers on the new Tuolumne Street Bridge are making the finish-ing touches with the installation of barrier fencing and will soon complete roadway striping on the bridge for two-way traffic. New signals between Broadway Street and Van Ness Avenue have also been installed.

STATE ROUTE 99 REALIGNMENT CENTRAL FRESNO

The Clinton Avenue Overpass at State Route 99 (SR 99) has been demolished and girders have already been placed for the new structure. As at Tuolumne Street Bridge, the Clinton Over-pass needs to be raised to accommodate the future high-speed rail trains that will travel underneath. SR 99 is also being shifted about 100 feet to the west between Clinton and Ashlan avenues to make room for the high-speed rail corridor that will replace the current northbound lanes.

AVENUE 12 OVERPASS| MADERA COUNTY

Dirt work for a new Avenue 12 alignment north of the existing roadway continues in Madera County just east of Madera Com-munity College. Two bridges will be connected by an earthen embankment for a crossing that will allow Avenue 12 traffic to cross over the future high-speed rail line and the freight line further to the east. Utility relocations for nearby electrical lines will be completed this month, allowing the bridge work to progress.

ROAD 27 OVERPASS| MADERA COUNTY

With concrete poured for the north abutment of the Road 27 over-pass, crews are now forming the falsework for the abutment on the south side of the structure. The overcrossing will take traffic over the existing railroad line and the future high-speed trains, eliminating the need for the existing at-grade crossing. Falsework is also being started to build the bent caps on top of the columns.

MUSCAT VIADUCT|SOUTH FRESNO

Major progress can also be seen at the Muscat Avenue Viaduct at the south end of Construction Package 1. Falsework now connects the abutments of the viaduct, and crews are preparing for upcom-ing concrete pours of the superstructure. Once the Muscat Viaduct and the Cedar Viaduct are complete, the two will be connected so that high-speed trains can cross over State Route 99.
