President`s Report July 2016 Hi All
It was great to see many club members at the Morry Muster at Albury and as usual the Albury Wodonga
Club put on a great rally. The meals were good, the Saturday night raffle was great fun and the run
turned into a mystery event for some of us. Many thanks to the Albury Wodonga Morris Minor Club for
all the hard work they put into organizing the event. More in the run report.
Our next run is to Bridges Restaurant in Hurstbridge for the mid-year lunch, one of my favourite events
of the year. If you have not booked and still wish to come, please contact Michael Dobson for a late
booking on 0400 273 328. See Up Coming Events for more details. Don’t forget to get your HATS ready
for Braidy`s hat competition. I don’t know what the prize is, but if it is as good as last year’s prize for the
best Hawaiian shirt, it will be worth winning.
Now that winter has finally set in and it’s too is cold and wet to work in the garden or shed/garage, it
would be a great time to have some mid-week POP-UP lunchtime runs. If you would like to arrange one,
please let me know so we can get an email out to all club members. A bit of fun in the winter’s sun!
The Committee have started planning for the clubs 40th birthday. The MMCCV first inaugural meeting
was on 16th February 1977, so the birthday celebration is planned to happen on the 19th February 2017.
We are still looking for a suitable venue and are considering having a lunch, so that we can put on a
display of our cars. If you have any thoughts on a venue, please let one of the committee members know.
Keep on Morrying
Mark

Club Captain’s Report July 2016
What a chilly turn in the weather this month, lucky for us we are off to “Bridges” in Hurstbridge for a
lovely warm midyear lunch. We are meeting at McDonald’s in Diamond Creek for a great run through
the leafy outer suburbs of Melbourne. Hope to see lots of our members there.
We still need some mid-week runs to be organised for this year, so please dig deep and put your hand up,
I can help you if you need a hand to organise it.
Keep On Morrying

RUN REPORT
MIGHTY MORRY MUSTER at ALBURY - JUNE 11 12 13th
Several members met at the BP Servo at Wallan on the Hume Highway at 10:15am for a 10:30am departure
on the Friday. We stopped for lunch at Euroa where we met up with the Geelong Club who had stopped
there too. Michael and Veronica’s car was giving them some overheating problems but after a quick set of
the timing, they were on their way and made it to Lavington safely.
We arrived in Lavington where some booked into the Boomerang while others booked into the Big 4. After
happy hour in room 16, dinner was held at the Boomerang where we met up with more members as well
as members of other clubs. We also had dinner with Sue & Dennis Smith who were former members now
living at Bandiana.
On Saturday morning, we went to the North Albury Sports Club to register and to have morning tea then
at 12 o’clock we went into Albury and had a Static Display at the Hovell Tree Park (this is where the
nationals were held).
We locked the cars up and went to the Commercial Club Albury in Dean St for lunch. We rearranged the
furniture and made a huge table for us all.
Saturday night was at the Jindera hall where we had a lovely 2 course meal as well as a mammoth raffle.
The stage was full of raffle prizes and when your ticket came out you picked a prize, unwrapped it, showing
it to everyone and displaying it on your table.
Then the next ticket was drawn out and that person could pick one from the stage or claim the prize you
had won.
If they picked your prize then you picked another from the stage. It all went along ok until a hand-knitted
Golliwog was picked from the stage and everyone was after him.
Then a bucket of car cleaning products was picked and that was passed around a lot too.
After one hour and a half of being dragged from person to person Golli was finally won and promptly given
away to Rhonda Brumhead.
Dinner at Jindera Cathy with the Golli
Sunday morning we set off on our run in convoy to Yackandandah where we had morning tea and a look
around, then on to Stanley. At Yackandandah we met up with Bob and Judi McGrath formerly of Rusty
Springs fame at Avenel now residing at Broadford. They were there with a Jaguar club.
After some confusion with the instructions some met at Beechworth with some travelling through Stanley
via a very rough fire track.
Then all we headed off to Chiltern for Lunch at “HUB 62 Cafe” which is a new café in the converted
Chiltern Masonic Hall.
After a delicious lunch, we made our own way back to Albury and freshened up for the Sunday Night
Dinner at North Albury Sports Club, where once again we had a lovely meal.
On the way to the dinner, a certain little blue convertible met with an accident at the lights on the corner
of Wagga Rd and Union Rd Lavington. A car had entered the intersection and got stuck when the lights
went red so he decided to back up. Unfortunately he didn’t see Baby Blue sitting there or hear the blaring
horn consequently his towbar did about $3000 damage to the front.
Everyone received a ticket on arrival and the winners were presented with pieces of art. Some were
paintings and some were framed photos from the Nationals.
Getting ready for the run to Yackandandah
Cars arriving at Chiltern Lunch at the Hub 62 Café
Back at the Boomerang after the dinner, work commenced making Baby Blue driveable. Lots of panel
beating to get the radiator back off the engine block which was successful.
Monday morning breakfast was at McDonalds which was in walking distance of the Boomerang and after
a lot of hugs and kisses and farewells it was time for some to head off home.
Sue Caulfield and her energetic club members did a great job to entertain us all once again.
Barbara & Ken, Lesley & Graham and Ann & John were some who opted to remain for an extra day and
they visited Bill, young Bill and Dorothy Littlehales as Bill rests at home after getting out of hospital.
Attendees
Barbara & Ken Urquhart, Mark Parritt, Lesley & Graham Dines, John & Ann Druery, Percy & Cheryl
Scicluna, Rob & Trish Smith, Ross & Ann Carr, Michael & Veronica Dobson, Graham & Rosalee
Harper, Bruce Kerr & Ann Rasmussen, Jeff, Gladys & Rhonda Brumhead, Jeff & Julie Stanyer, Kelvin
& Jo Hawkesworth, Tim Lengyel & Cathy Emery .
We also met Judi & Bob McGrath at Yackandandah (touring with the Jaguar Club), and Robert &
Kerieann Mackie (life members) who joined us for lunch at Chiltern.
Sad way to end the Muster

TECHNICAL TIPS
The fuel pump The Minor has a reputation for having an unreliable fuel pump. This is somewhat exaggerated,
but still it is worth a little preventative maintenance so here is a guide.
If you are new to maintenance, I advise you to obtain a scrap pump from your friendly
scrapyard. This saves any problems if you can't get it back together for Monday morning. It
also gives you a spare ready for use. If you want to replace the pump rather than service it then
just follow the relevant bits below.
STEP BY STEP GUIDE
Difficulty 4/10
Cost $70 to fit a new pump
Tools and Parts
Spanners
Screwdriver
New points for pump
Possibly a new diaphragm
(New pump if replacing)
1 Disconnect the battery. The pump is situated on the right of it and is easy to remove. The
small knurled nut on the end is removed with finger pressure.
2 Undo the nuts on the two unions which allow the fuel in and out. These can be troublesome.
If they begin to turn but offer increased resistance, the pipe is jammed on the nut. Use WD-40
and work the union back and forth until it frees off. Alternatively the union which screws into
the pump body may be turning with the nut. If so, hold it with another spanner while turning
the nut. If you twist the pipe off you are in trouble.
3 Undo the two bolts that hold the pump on to the bodywork. These are accessed from the
battery compartment and do not give problems.
4 You now have a pump in your hand. Allow any petrol inside to drain away and then soak the
six screws on the main housing in WD-40. Leave it for ten minutes while it soaks in.
5 Meanwhile, remove the black end cap by undoing the single brass nut which retains it. This
reveals the switch mechanism that gives all the trouble.
6 Once the WD-40 has done its stuff, undo the six screws on the main housing. It is now
possible to remove the metal end section, which is known as the pump body. This is in two
halves. Remove both parts to see the diaphragm that actually pumps the fuel. By pushing
firmly in the centre of this diaphragm you can make the switch flick on and off.
7 Peel the diaphragm off the cylindrical housing and slowly unscrew it. Note that it is made up
of several layers. Make sure you do not separate them. There is a long rod which goes right
through the unit to operate the switch. After about 20 turns the diaphragm will come free.
Check it for splits or tears - if it has any, a replacement is easily available.
8 Now undo the two small bolts that retain the end plastic housing and remove the switch by
sliding the pin out. Be gentle as the black plastic legs are easily broken. Some replacement
points are fitted with double contacts to increase reliability.
