The View kicked off the Spring Opener on Friday evening with a Bounty Dinner. Travis put on his “chef’s hat” and hand carved the rosemary rubbed prime rib, served along with grilled lemon thyme chicken.Lunch the next day was a south-ern fried feast of, buttermilk mari-nated fried chicken, succotash, potato salad and hot apple crum-ble.

MOTHER’S DAYMother’s day brunch was a huge success. Our guests were treated to a buffet that included: salmon, quiche, prime rib, biscuits and gravy, 5 different salads, desserts

and more! Several Key Club volunteers were on hand to help the kids create a hand drawn card and a potted plant as a present for their moms.

MAY BOUNTYMay’s Bounty Dinner was a Tap Take Over with Wild Ride Brewery. Owner and head brewer Paul Bergeman was on hand to facilitate a guided beer tasting. The night featured five special beers which our kitchen team pared with five different dishes to create a unique Bounty Dinner experience. Several guests won growlers filled with their favorite Wild Ride beer and a special bottle of Brain Bucket Bour-bon Barrel Aged IPA. Keep an eye on our tap handles for the next few weeks as we will be

rotating in many of the beers we tasted during the dinner. Brain Bucket Bourbon Barrel Aged IPA is also available by the bottle. *Remember these dinners are also open to the public, so invite your friends!

JUNE BOUNTY DINNER COUNTRY BBQ

We broke in our new patio with a Country BBQ. The evening started at 5 pm with a cocktail hour. Followed by a BBQ dinner of chick-en and ribs, cowboy baked beans, potato salad, corn, and cobbler for dessert. After dinner, we were treat-ed to Western Swing dance lessons with dance instructor, Steven McNeil of Dusty Rose Dance Studio. During dinner, Lexi from the Bright Side Animal Shelter helped us auction off a unique firework watch-ing experience for the Fourth of July and we raised over $300! On July 4th we will be creating an exclusive outdoor living room, in the parking lot facing the Fairgrounds. Com-plete with comfortable seating for six, coffee tables, cozy blankets. This will be the best place in Red-mond to watch the show!All proceeds from the auction will go to the animals at Bright Side Animal Shelter.

FOURTH OF JULYThank you to all who showed up for our firewroks viewing! It was a great day and night and we cannot wait until next year!

From “The Pro”

How about that Central Oregon weather? We had a high of 98 on June 5th and a low of 24 on June 15. Talk about extremes. Anyway, we’ve been busy when the weather has co-operated.

We are in the meat of our season. The July 4th sweepstakes,

Ladies Member-Guest, Men’s Club Championships and our home & home event with Eagle Crest will give you lots to play in July. August will bring the Man-Gal, Central Oregon Ama-teur and the Ladies Club Champi-onships. The major events in September are the Labor Day sweeps, the Juniper Best Ball, and the Deer Widows Invitational. Be sure to check out the website for exact dates and entry blanks.

As for our past events, congratu-lations to the Men’s club for winning the Juniper Cup from the Crooked River Ranch guys in our annual home & home matches. Kerry Cowgill and Ken Johnson won the low net “A” division of the Juniper Chapman. Paul Coon brought in son-in-law Marcus Dale to take low net in the “B”

Division. We have two teams that are going to the CourseCo Champi-onship in Pullman. Kerry Cowgill, Steve Dietz, Jon Corbett and Tyral Petersen will team with myself and Matt McGowan, Mike McGowan, Ken Johnson and Andrew Fitch will go with Travis Kane.

Junior golf has just started. If you have a junior that you wish to get started in the game, come on out and get them involved. Stuart Allison will be heading up our junior program this year. Call if you have any questions.

Hey! How about the remodel? Quite a different look and more

coming as they finish the decorat-ing. A lot was done in three short days. The response has been quite positive with the new look and the new menu. Travis and Ahja have been going full speed ahead to get everything in place for this upcoming season. Plan on coming out to the club on the 4th of July as they prepare an outdoor living room to watch the fireworks.

Communication is something we continue to try to improve. I know we fail from time to time but we understand the importance of good

communication and we will continue to try to get better. We are using the electronic means available with email and social media. Sometimes I think we forget some of the old fashion ways of posters, mailings and phone calls. If we aren’t reach-ing you in one way or the other, let

us know and we will try to come up with something that reaches you.

My hope is to start some more membership activities. As my job duties change and more time is created, you will start to see some additional membership activities. Nine hole events, bingo, card games, marbles, movie nights and food. Who knows what will be coming your way? Stay tuned. My wife has even got me in front of a Mah Jong game or two.

The first day of summer just pasted by so we have the next three months of summer. Now is the time to be playing golf in Central Oregon. Get out here and get those golf balls in the air.

Maintenance Department

Greetings from the maintenance shop! It has been a busy and eventful spring and Mother Nature has been very kind to us with some occasional rain. I know it stinks for playing but the grass sure likes it. The golf course is holding up well and despite my frustration with native area weeds things are pretty darn good at the moment. We are well under way with our modified topdressing and aerification program. Every two weeks we apply a very light amount of sand to greens and approaches. At this time we also either aerify with our planet air machine or with needle tines on our walk behind aerifier. These

processes do a great job of open-ing up the turf and letting it breathe. The big goal here is to get oxygen

into the profile. No o x y g e n , no turf. T h e disruption

to play is very minimal but the ben-efits are far reaching. On the off topdressing week we will be either topdressing tees or verticutting approaches. Some great process-es to say the least. When labor and weather allow we will be continuing to use our new fairway verticutter. The initial results from the fairways we did in April are very promising. On May 10 Juniper hosted 37 very active and energetic 7th

and 8th graders from Central Chris-tian School for our Spring First Green program. I had three stations set up this go around with labs pertaining to moss, lichens, fungi (oh my!), critters in the soil, and critters in the water. The weather was great and the kids may have actually learned a thing or two about all the great things the creatures that we see and don’t see do to help us live on this planet. Summer is here and with that a break from the frost. Come on out to play and enjoy the new goings on in the clubhouse when you get a chance. Juniper NewsletterWhew - A lot has gone on over these past five months!!! The best part…the season is just getting started. Who has seen the recent updates to the club-house and patio? CourseCo’s dedication to the future success of Juniper, scripted a one hun-dred thousand dollar check for this project to take place. The end result has received rave reviews. So, if you haven’t seen it – I am inviting you to come by and take a look. Juniper now has the best environment in town to socialize with your friends and family.With growth, there are new faces in and around the facility. Con-tinuing into the season, there will be more additions to the team.

Please take the time to introduce yourself to the recent/new hires. It may take a couple of interactions for everyone to recognize each other by name. Though this is the first step of creating great long-standing relationships.I NEED YOUR HELP. We’ve all heard about the outside audit conducted last year for the facility. One of the items on that list was accounting for each person who played golf. Over the recent months observing the standard operating procedures, it has come to my attention that many do not register at the golf shop. So we need everyone’s help here. We need groups to check in appropri-ately with the staff at the golf shop counter. This will allow future audi-

tors to be satisfied with their audit process. I am more than willing to assist this process. I NEED YOUR HELP.There are more activities to come here in the next few months. Ahja and her team has more activities planned up their sleeve. For exam-ple – Fourth of July viewing party, Wine Tasting, Movie night and the Block Party just to list a few. Bruce and his crew have golf events as well – the Man Gal, Club Champion-ships and making its return…the Central Oregon Amateur. Keep an eye out for flyers and entries posted around the clubhouse along with emails and social media posting. As well, look for online registration available through the website.- Travis Kane, PGA
