Officer Training Conference

“As an officer, I was obligated to attend OTC (Officer Training Conference) toenhance my Treasury skills. Although I knew it was going to be on a beach, I wasstill expecting some boring lectures from past officers or some kind of moral tokeep being enthusiastic about my work. To my surprise, I learned a lot of life skillsthat I needed besides being a Treasurer like Time Management, Public Speaking, and in depth goals of Key Club worldwide. Meeting new friends, gaining wisdomfrom experienced officers in the past, I got to say OTC was a great eye opener forme. All the cheering and the sand castle competition was like a cherry on top.Our division also won the sand sculpture contest, by a landslide (no need to bragor anything). It was definitely worth and I highly encourage others to go, just don’tforget sunscreen like I did.” ~ Justin Yu

Articles“Vibha Dream Mile was a great event to kick start this summer. I felt pretty bummedabout missing the Color Run the day before, but it turned out for the best becauseI actually enjoyed volunteering at the Vibha Dream Mile. The generous FoodBooth leads gave us some spicy Indian food. It was pretty good, although thespice later got to me. Although I was categorized in “Food Booth”, I spent mostof the event “cheering” on runners. During the three hours of “cheering” on runners,I got to know Julie Ling better and she’s simply divine. I also got an awesomeballoon giraffe who deflated under my arm. Simply put, it was a great experiencethat couldn’t have been better. Well maybe if there were pineapple rasam.”~ Vanessa Nguyen

“On June 3rd, I attended Election Night, a Kiwanis- joint event from 7:00- 10:30pm. Iwas paired up with a member from Andrew Hill and we were responsible for makingsure the cars enter/exit the correct way. The customers were really welcoming; theywould open their windows to greet and appreciate our help. This was a funexperience because I was able to meet and bond closer with the Kiwanis, AndrewHill, and my club. Shoutout to Andrew Hill for collaborating with Evergreen Valley !”~ Julie Ling

“I’ve always enjoyed volunteering for Second Harvest Food Bank. It may just be asimple task of passing out food to people in need, but getting to see the smiles ofthe families once they’ve received the generous amount of groceries makes thethe time I spend during the events worth it. Nothing is more rewarding than thefeeling one gets from helping those in need.” ~ Tommy Huynh
